It's so ironical, my dad is a typical Indian man: selfish, entitled, manchild, can't get water on his own. But my Nanu was the exact opposite with my nani, they had a partnership better than whatever hot partnership is in cricket rn. He was basically the "Marty to RGB" long before the conversations about feminism & equality happened, in a small town of Punjab. That's the relationship i look upto.

I don’t know why children never confront their parents for their behaviour. I’ve always had very frank relation with my parents. Even though my dad does a lot of household work, if ever I feel like he is not on an equal footing with mom, I’ve always pointed that out. We all share a good relationship with each other.

the film is actually deeper than those mainstream quotes which meme pages post actually what tyler meant was that kids are born and left to thier mothers and fathers don't pay much attention to kids, we're a generation of parental neglect, gender roles have made it sole job of women to raise kids, which causes problems down the line.

Even then you really need to learn about patriarchy.
Women have to do a lot of work at home but they don't get paid anything for it. Yes, women get a place to live and clothes and food because of the husband. But men work and they get paid for that work and they can take care of themselves with the money and their wife and their children too.
So, a man gets paid enough to take care of multiple people by the work that he does. But a woman only gets enough stuff so that only her needs are taken care of.
This is the problem with traditional patriarchy. It is unfair to women.
First women are supposed to work at home because that's what society expects them too but they don't get paid for their work. So, they have to depend on men to survive. And even then they don't get any respect for their work. Men are considered superior than women and women are considered less intelligent.
Women are considered to be less intelligent and therefore useless in the real world because they don't work outside. But it is the society tells women that they can't work outside because they consider women to be less intelligent even though they aren't. But because they don't let women work outside so they never know whether women are intelligent enough to do that work or not.

Ok so my dad earns for my family and my mom is a house wife . So if he comes back after a full day of working hard and asks anyone for a glass of water , nothing wrong . He still helps on weekends on household works. But if both the husband and wife are working and but still the guy has the issue of asking the wife for water food etc that is the problem . The main idea is when you get married you should work in a partnership - 50-50 always .

Agreed same goes with my parents as well. Rather the only point i would disagree is being 50-50 cause that's not a logical thing to say. As in that will just be mean to do thing in order what you have pre-decided to work like. Both the partners should care and do things for each other but not with the intentions of being it 50-50, because then they will be expecting something in return for their deeds, which is not a relationship obviously, in it you do thing for your partner out of love.

God ! This is so relieving for me to watch. I've been thinking the same for a while now and I wanted to ask people about it. But I felt like I might be the only one thinking this and end up generalizing things way beyond measure. I feel like most men in Asia are raised in a very unhealthy manner , they are rarely taught to be self reliant , it's like their mother's are nestling them in a continuously expanding cocoon , they are pursuaded to be outdoorsy and bold outside but little babies who need their nappies changed in the house, because they are precious little princes who no one says no to , no matter what. Whereas most girls , I feel from personal observations are downplayed , their opinions grand-standed and their creative thoughts and contributions perceived as a threat , which is very often responded to with guys typically going , "jao jaake mere liye paani ka glass le ao" . What I believe, in most cases, this results in is a condensed, clear personality and a headstrong perspectived , educated girl ,who has in most cases sensitised herself emotionally while the guys are out there being increasingly inappropriate, feeling threatened but still needing their diapers changed . If anyone made it this far , let me know what you think. I might not be right, I pray and hope that this is far less of a reality than I think it is!

Last yr, I unfortunately came into contact with someone xyz male... he barely even knew me, and looking at my bold and outrageously courage nature, he abruptly told me I will dominate my husband. It's been one and a half yr, I am still not able to come out of that shit. Every male used to tell me these things, and when this male (whom I had feelings for), I lost it there itself.
