Single class Troubadors as a main summoner are the absolute best Chanter, no question. Longer duration for summons than Beckoner and the linger effect makes it perfect to get new chants up. If you only use it only for summoning you can constantly have a Dragon or Ogres up. It can basically do all the tanking, because when the time they die, you can instantly cast a new one up. It's just insane how OP it can be. Carries my entire team on Path of the Damned.
I really like the Chanter class, but the Troubador really does feel a lot like the base class on steroids. When you just want the passive buffs the extra linger is amazing, while they can also go into full overdrive for active spellcasting with Brisk Resicitation. The +1 to phrase cost for Invocations really doesn't make it more niche compared to the baseline class.
If you play on any higher level of difficulty above normal you need Perception. Max Int and Perception and dump res and con if you don't plan on being on the front lines. Dex is also not very necessary as you'll get phrases at the same rate. Int/Per/Might is the way to go for any support chanter. PS: The dragon is awesome - even more so if you go beckoner and get 2. The ogres tend to be the most useful due to the sheer amount of undead that need to be bludgeoned to death. PPS: The Animancy Cat pet is a MUST! Picked up in the Sacred Stair district. It adds Might and Pen to ALL pets summoned by your party.
Wait, Skalds only proc the 50% crit on melee??? I took that with my ranger who use ranged :(, it just said "weapon critical hit" not melee so I assumed it worked on any weapon type.
So Beckoner + Conjurer have any real synergy? Cause I'd love to play a dedicated Necromancer style summoner. Both of the latest CRPGs (Divinity Original sin & Pillars) seem to intentionally avoid having this kind of class option; drastically limiting you summon numbers and moving _Necromancy_ towards a more MMO style goth themed fireball dispenser.
Summomer are realy fun but you can abuse the system because you can fight forever I just had one fight that took me 30 min I cleard a quest bit by bit that was way over my level and have now on lv 7 legendary items Your summens are op
You can only have 1 summon per character so not really. You cannot have a dragon and tentacles despite them being from separate classes on a multiclass character.
I made a 20 INT (For spell duration) generic Chanter because I wanted to try out the summons. Without even going Beckoner the summon duration seemed very short. I was only playing a test character for a little bit, so maybe this increases somewhat with power level. (Hope so) Not sure, but my skeletons were only lasting a couple of rounds. I can't understand why the summoner focused subclass would have even shorter duration.
In realtime most summons last exactly untill you get next round of chants to summon them again. Untill later in game it may be ~twice longer. So if you want to be summoner, you have to cast one spell again and again, and do auto attack in between.
Jolo .Pulido im actually having a hard time getting good dps and buff uptime. Might just end up being stuck with lower dps and having to maybe focus a bit more on summons
Should you only pick 2 phrases? Or is there a way to play in which you have several different songs set up and change them in fights based on situation?
Curious as to why you recommend first Barbarian and Rogue to multiclass with Skald and then you say Fighter can be good as well. Why is Rogue put above fighter when, as far as I can tell, it doesn’t have any abilities that increase critical hit rate? While fighter has disciplined strikes.
Two things to note here: 1) If you want 20 might, say, only an Amaua can get that during stat allocation. 18 is the natural max, and race bonuses allow you to go beyond that in stat allocation. 2) the other reason is that different races get different passive abilities. If you don't care about having higher than 18 in a particular stat, and don't care about the race passives (I personally find them useless), then yes, race is irrelevant.
4 or 8 meters ranged weapons like Pistols or shotguns can easily leave you in just enough range to buff both melee and ranged part of your party. And chanter have that reload speed increase for ranged weaposn, which combined with a pistols and their ability will turn you into a "swiftest hand in town" easily, and if you mix it with "gunner" passive of Ranger then you will be a machinegunner.
Thoughts on how to build a semi tanky Skald/Devoted? I'm always unsure about stat spread and doubly so here since int helps aoe, might helps dmg, etc etc. Aaahhh. I've been rerolling and getting nowhere for 30+hrs of gameplay. Save me.
I actually just made a War Caller. You'll want to prioritize Intellect, Perception and Might. Intellect helps with your AoE Radius and Duration. Duration is important for Chants as well as At the Sound of His Voice the Killers Froze Stiff, which Paralyzes targets in a huge AoE. Paralyze increases your Crit Chance by 50%, so get it and spam it. Perception is needed to help that Invocation Hit and Might for damage and healing.
The linger is the extended duration of the chant. A new chant will start but the "linger" effect of the previous chant stays so you'll have 2 buffs (or more) active at the same time.

So we're not going to talk about how single class Chanter can summon a dragon? I mean, I think that's some good shit.
That is what I’m currently looking at!! I looked at this video in hopes he’d talk about it lol
I spent hours figuring out how I wanted to multi-class as a chanter, but now I'm just going to summon dragons, forget the rest
I just started playing PoE1 as a chanter... cool class and a great game that I kind of slept on.
Same here, i just didnt had time because of work, now i finally started poe1 and enjoying it so much, a masterpiece of a game
They In a coma with this game
For Skald, I suggest prioritizing perception for increased accuracy and critical chance.
Love all of your videos. Hoping for an in-depth companion video soon.

21 Int with a troubadour for 2 permanent chant buffs. Need to get a LOT more for 3.

The descriptions are misleading some times.
i thought the same as well

Your summens are op
Pathfinder Kingmaker is a cRPG that actually allows you to summon hundreds of creatures
You can only have 1 summon per character so not really. You cannot have a dragon and tentacles despite them being from separate classes on a multiclass character.
Assuming "The Dragon Thrashed, The Dragon Wailed" synergizes really well with Troubador.
Rapid damage, but there are areas where using that chant is useless.
@@williethenerfherder2193 There's almost nothing in the game that is immune to both slashing and fire.
Thanks for the very helpful and indepth vid

I take credit for this revised version.
Im running a kind wayfarer paladin with no subclass chanter. Ultimate front line dps support
share your build please. I'm doing the same but I feel that it lacks damage but mine is an uber tank. what spells/passives do give them dps?
Jolo .Pulido im actually having a hard time getting good dps and buff uptime. Might just end up being stuck with lower dps and having to maybe focus a bit more on summons
yeah I thought so too! it's a shame we couldn't get the dragon summon because of multi-classing.
Jolo .Pulido i feel like single class chanter is a little underwhelming overall though. Definitely a great pick for multicasting
So is a beckoner chanter and a Fury Druid a good multi class combo?
Should you only pick 2 phrases? Or is there a way to play in which you have several different songs set up and change them in fights based on situation?
The latter, you can have 3 or so Songs prepared before combat and switch between them pretty similar like switching between weapon kits.
Rogue has dirty fighting which converts hits to crits which syncs with 1 handed style.
the skald crit... would this work on crit with carnage from barbarian?
how do races even matter if you can fine tune the stats afterwards anyway
Two things to note here:
1) If you want 20 might, say, only an Amaua can get that during stat allocation. 18 is the natural max, and race bonuses allow you to go beyond that in stat allocation.
2) the other reason is that different races get different passive abilities.

Do Monk fists count as "melee weapons"? I kinda want to try Monk/Chanter for a frontliner with buffs/debuffs to apply...
Yes they do.
Good to hear, thanks.
Can they make this class any more confusing to use...
I mean what's the point of being a range chanter ? The point is to buff your party, you kinda need to be melee. If your out of range, it's pointless.
4 or 8 meters ranged weapons like Pistols or shotguns can easily leave you in just enough range to buff both melee and ranged part of your party. And chanter have that reload speed increase for ranged weaposn, which combined with a pistols and their ability will turn you into a "swiftest hand in town" easily, and if you mix it with "gunner" passive of Ranger then you will be a machinegunner.
because chanter has no defence and offence skills, easier to leave him on backline and forget.
Why the reupload?
There were some errors in the old video, and we didn't want to perpetuate them onto people. So we fixed them, and reuploaded.
Minus one phrase on summons? Must have been nerfed (it’s +1 in 1.2), because that would be nuts.
Yes this was changed.
Thoughts on how to build a semi tanky Skald/Devoted? I'm always unsure about stat spread and doubly so here since int helps aoe, might helps dmg, etc etc. Aaahhh. I've been rerolling and getting nowhere for 30+hrs of gameplay. Save me.

So chanter = Bard + Summoner
People don't know what "linger" means??
The linger is the extended duration of the chant. A new chant will start but the "linger" effect of the previous chant stays so you'll have 2 buffs (or more) active at the same time.
:)
So this class is garbage in turn based? Looks like it
