I am curious as to why you said this wouldn't work in turn-based on your site. I don't see anything here that doesn't translate into turn-based. In fact, crowd control is king in turn-based, and this build does it - and tanks!
@@alfarabi73 Currently in turn-based you cannot paralyze the enemies and attack on the same turn, so you will never be able to attack them while paralyzed.
@@Fextralife Also, if you noticed on your Spirit Lance video, someone said Citzal's is not a free cast. I confirmed in-game. Doesn't that make the build unworkable for turn-based? And yet ironically you have it okayed for turn-based on your site.
@@alfarabi73 Because you spend one turn and then you have it for many many turns after. This is not the case with the war caller where you'll literally never get to attack into the paralyzed targets because they will unparalyze on their turn.
I recalled my past "neverwinter nights" days when there was no video on builds guide. Nowadays, everything seems convenient! esp. with quality video/guide like this!
This and the Debonoire charmer are some of my faves so far. Thank you for covering this and thank you for the vids you uploaded for the PS4 release. The port is a bit buggy and the load times can be a bit much but I find Deadfire so interesting ATM I can't put it down.
Quick tip if you're going to multi with chanter, pick up the level 7 upgrade to the ability 'Set to their purpose, They all knew their part' that way you can freely recharge your discipline and your chants faster so you can pretty much spam Charge for Full Attack and interrupts all the time.
One really fun combination is actually Sage (Transmuter WIzard + Monk). Use the unique ogre transform transmuters get, and use monk abilities with the ogre fists for some really high damage output.
I'd heavily interested in any working "Berserker" (Barb subclass) build. I've been playing around with Berserker/Devote which works just fine but isn't as exotic as I like. It'd be awesome if you come up with some inspiration sooner or later. Keep up the good work!
This game makes me tear up. The detail into everything, skill names, skill descriptions, classes, subclasses, races, subraces, backgrounds is astonishing.
I'd like to see some build guides for the classes that your companions have, or even straight up companion build guides. What should I do with Eder, Aloth, Xoti and the rest.
Man I can't wait for your other builds. I love the combo-y nature of this War Caller. Could you or anyone suggest a build similar to this? Putting two classes that synergize together is fun but the combo of the paralyze and dash to generate aoe crits is so awesome. I'm playing this build on potd but would also like to try some other combo type classes.
You're doing Multi-classes as well?! Awesome, will be interesting to see your Priest ones, been trying to make a Berath Greatsword themed melee priest, but didn't know whether to use Paladin (Goldpact) or devoted with it. Keep up the great work!
First time playing a PoE game, so i don't know too much about the unique weapons. But with the spirit weapon scaling with level, it should always be decent and guarantee that you have a good weapon you can use the skills you spec into. Also I did it for more of a RP reason I guess, because I thought being a Melee death priest is how they would normally act? With the spirit weapon being a greatsword, so i just used the secondary skillset to enhance that.
Summon weapons were great in the first POE because of the damage that goes with scaling, and summoning them is instant so using them is a massive boost to DPS. But in POE2 the cast time is increased significantly to 3 seconds, an amount of time which is often better spent using a different ability. So it's a good idea to analyze if it's worth getting a summon weapon or not, because sometimes using a unique weapon and getting a different ability might be better in the Deadfire.
Yeah I did noticed it takes a while to summon the actual weapon, which early on was kind of not worth waiting for. I'm not sure if I want to increase my dexterity to increase the cast time over getting more might or other attributes.
I'd suggest trying out a Fanatic (Berserker/Paladin). The two classes complement each other very well, with Paladin offsetting the downsides of the Berserker (low defences, Mental Fortress cancels out Confused).
I'm having a lot of fun with the Votary multiclass; Monk Helwalker gaining Might each wound to boost damage and then using Paladin's Kind Wayfares Flames of Devotion to both heal the extra damage taken and to heal the party. It's a super deadly combo. I have also started to experiment with Shepherd; Ranger Sharpshooter and Paladin Bleakwalkers with insane single target damage, with Sworn Enemy and Marked Prey, and then annihilate the enemy with Flames of Devotion (Black Flames).
It would be great if you did a ravager build because I just feel like aoe of barbarian combined with the speed and mobility of monk can lead to some crazy combos! Also I plan to play ravager on my second playthrough (roleplay reasons). Keep up the great builds coming
Fun combination idea I had, Corpse Eatinh Barb mixed with the Drug addicted Monk. One cause it's hilarious thematically (Bath Salts build anyone?) two, because corpse eating heals you when you are debuffed from healing from being hung over!
If Armor and outlasting is more important than recovery time, why not just go all in and wear full plate? I mean this is something I struggled with in PoE 1 already, the fact that medium armor is pretty much useless due to the fact that if you're getting hit, you'll want full plate and if you're not going to get hit, you don't want anything beyond simple robes. If there are situations that don't allow me to control the battlefield so that my casters won't get hit, it's just better to give them full plates as well for that encounter. Can you give me any real situations where medium armor is actually better than just going full plate? (Besides the fact that it looks way cooler, Vailian breastplate all the way ^^)
Inquisitor is fucking awesome :) I am currently playing ascendand/goldpact inquisitor, and its just amazing... Dual wielding blunderbusses with their modal (which has no drawback effect on paladin with clear head talent) gives you opportunity to get maximum focus from single FoD, and then just spam all the cipher spells for free - when it fades, just FoD again... And when you get Kitchen stove blunderbuss from Dereo and upgrade its thunderous attack it becomes insane. All that while being pretty tanky as paladin subclass+gilded enmity from sworn rival and goldpack.
Doug Beard max might, perc, and res. Dump int if you want and drop con to 8. Use whatever ypu have left for dexterity. There is a light armor accuired during a ship battle east of port maijo that gives a max of +20 deflection+40reflex till combat ends aaaanndd!!!!... hardy and fit at the start of combat fir 20 sec. Helm of the falcon cuts 30% off two handed recovery times. Bloodlust from barb fir speed, retaliation from paladin to deal high damage. Paladin talant returns a zeal point for every npc you kill. You absolutely need the paladin perk clear mind to eliminate the confused status from frenzy. I used whispers of the endless paths greatsword.. Almost a must for the build. Easy to get fir 3k nearly at the start of game. Basicallt early on you rage the charge in (tactically), then when rage wears off you use flames of devotion to heal back up and f8nish off baddies. Later on when u gain immunity to confused status, you can use both at the sane time. Dont invest in lay on hands or pretty much any paladin offense abilities nor auras. Its all about the passives. Only abilities you are gonna use is sworn enemy, flames if devotion, circle if flame from paladin side. Gonna use frenzy and thats pretty much it from barbarian.
Thanks, It sounds really cool! Ill give it a try. Im basically at the point where ive invested 10 hours into the game, but I havent gotten past Port Maijo because im trying several builds. Im like a buildaholic, this cant be healthy haha.
It's for either. It actually works better in a party because Paralyze increases the chance to Crit for everyone vs the Paralyzed target, not just you. Your Chants will also heal your party members as well.
Dont think Might is very necessary in its current state. Its additive not multiplicitive so its not that great especially in terms of scaling. Moreover the points in might could go to dex so that you are attacking more often getting more crits thus benefitting from skald more.
I would normally agree. But in the case of Chants it effects both the damage and healing. The Inquisitor Build has like no Might because it doesn't have these.
You can actually buff might to the stratosphere with some food (one food item gets you +4 might, insane!), int and perception are much harder to buff that way. Con is a dumpstat because you can simply wear a belt of eotens for +3 con.

i'm gonna try this one !
This class should been called "Dovahkin" :p
I want this game so bad but I am gonna wait till you cover more builds since I cant choose at all. xD
Great video. If I could make a request I would ask for a Marauder with mage slayer and no subclass. Thanks
In a similar way to the Inquisitor, I'm a little curious about the Holy Slayer and the Templar

Can you do some solid ranged builds that do some serious DPS?
pls,can u make a video for inquisitor? this build is true interesting, amazing guide

Awesome. Will you be doing a mindstalker or inquisitor guise?
Inquisitor is next :)

I would love a video on a rogue + chanter (harbinger I think)
Please do Templar then Thaumaturge next. Thanks
Nice!
Heya, just show as any monk or any wizard builds in near future please:)
Zealot: Priest (Eothas) + Rogue ( Trickster).
Max Might
Max Perception
Msx Intellect
Support/Striker
Would i level up faster if i played the game solo? or do i just get less xp from the quests?
Yes. XP is divided between party members.
Berserker/kind wayfarer is beast. Im level 19 solo on pod so far. Its brutal

Do you think the build would be viable with dual wield, battle axes?
Doug Beard yeah. Whispers greatsword is just more reliable damage since you get target damage, aoe damage, and carnage damage.
So is this build only for solo play or can I just do it in my party run?
It's for either. It actually works better in a party because Paralyze increases the chance to Crit for everyone vs the Paralyzed target, not just you. Your Chants will also heal your party members as well.
