Hey mate👋 So the motor will not have any issues running 3s but some of the 2in1 boards(receiver and esc) can not run 3s. When you get your car check to see if the 2in1 board is mounted to the chassis with double side tape or 3 screw tabs. The ones mounted with 3 screw tabs seem to fail on 3s every time but the ones without the tabs do excellent on 3s🤷 And upgrades, I highly advise getting some oil shocks for it as the stock shocks are friction shocks and are SOOOO bouncy. Get 65mm maximum shocks so the car can bottom out, that will prevent parts like swing arms, hubs, wheels, bearing and the shocks themselves from getting over stressed when the shocks are fully compressed. Other than that these car are pretty well set-up. Some diff modding like shims and doff oil would be helpful to prevent damage but not needed.
Thanks mate😁 Yes I was happy with that, as it is I was expecting some trouble at speed though😅 Few aero mods and some tweaking it should get 130kph at least🤞
Mine went up in smoke after I tried using a 3s battery in my JJRC Q117 . Unfortunately after just a few minutes not even close to full throttle, it started smoking and immediately stopped working. I live in a snowy climate so I wasn't sure if it was the battery or that it was dusted with snow on the inside. Has anyone else used them in wet or snowy conditions?
Oh no, your not the first person to say it failed on 3s. Not sure how all mine work so good on 3s🤔 I can not help with wet or cold weather driving sorry, but as I said others have failed due to running a 3s lipo.
@bendavis4675 that's good! I use ZEEE 850mah 100c 3s lipos. I don't think it was a bad lipo though, as I said quite a few people now have said their escs failed on 3s so just be aware it may happen again. If the esc has changed in any way between manufacturing runs that could be the issue, 1 different diode or capacitor and it can effect its capabilities.
Just a quick question ive got this car and im about to receive some 3s battery whats the best esc you recommend or any other components i should uprade so that nothing blows up 😂
If you are going to use a hobby grade esc you will also need to replace the controller and receiver as you can not use the stock controller or receiver(2in1 board) But I definitely recommend getting a good quality esc if you do go down that route, Hobbywing 40a or 50a will fit, I use the Hobbywing 10bl50a in mine now and it's flawless. Please don't buy Surpass or GoolRC escs they are terrible😬
@@rccrazyok thank you for that ive looked around but cant seem to find that esc it would be amazing if you could send me the link if not thats ok thanks for the advise
Well 850mah 3s is perfect size for this cars battery bay, you could possibly get taller lipos in there with a DIY latch to go over a taller lipo but longer won't fit, my 2200mah 3s would never fit. Personally I'm happy with 15mins Max run time and just take a few with me.
Lipo will be slightly faster but much better punch, I think liion would give a little longer runtime as a lipo with the same Mah. And most people have had great success running 3s, only heard of 1 case where there was a problem but according to the owner it seemed like it was faulty from the beginning.
Mate help something happened to my JJRC battery.. I bought new JJRC but it is not moving backward or forward but yes the steering works, it turns left and right but the light of the RC flashes continously which is a sign of battery mal fucntion, Now what should i do?
I thought flashing light was a indication of a flat battery. You charged the battery to FULL yes? If so then it will be as you said a faulty 2in1 board, in that case it would be a warranty claim or just order a new jjrc 35a 2in1 board.
You are very welcome👍 Yes 100% stock but the HBX wheels and temps were fine👌 But one think you need to know if you don't already, there is two different versions of the esc, one with screw tabs that are for it mounting to the chassis, they do NOT survive 3s. The other will run on 3s and with a 22t pinion on the motor all day, it looks identical but has no tabs and is held down with double side tape instead.
@rccrazy ..i actually found one today...how do you know about esc issues with the ones with tabs...several reports or personal experiences? I did buy a sg918 which is same manufacturer it has screws and tabs holding esc...i ran it on 3s in 95 degree heat..6 or 7 350ft runs.very fast, but not 55 mph..it uses 18 pinion and 2440 4600 kv..handled so good...decipline rc moded his and got 66mph..insane..thanks for the feed back.😊
Oh sweet you got a good one, unless it got super hot on 3s as most people reported. But yes almost every person that I know of that tried 3s on the tabbed ones they failed very fast and in some cases actual flames😬 I have blown one tabbed one on 3s in just a single pull of the trigger. And yes these could quite easily get 70-80mph with the correct setup.

Yes,maybe its a good one but 2440 4600kv motor gets pretty hot on 2s and real hot when i ran 3s..car runs very smooth though..i have heat sink on the way and i will probably hook up cooling fan...i also had ordered the 116 pro right before i watched your video..also have oil shocks coming with it...fingers crossed i have the good esc/rx installed...thanks
Hello friend. Congratulations on the video. I'm following your channel because of the quality of the videos about jjrc 1/16. I'm waiting for mine to arrive from China and I also bought some upgrades according to the list: Platinum ESC 150-SL / CNHL 3S 1500mah 100c / Dumborc X6FG / Oil Shock absorber / Aluminum heatsink with 40mm cooler. I'm thinking about testing the 2840 brushless motor and measuring the temperatures. If it gets too hot, I'll jump to a 3665 3800Kv with a 22T pinion. What do you think of this upgrade? I would like your comments about this setup and if possible, make a video testing this setup for us ;-)
Firstly, thank you very much!🙏 But I'm afraid you have purchased a much too large esc, 50a may fit but 45a is plenty. I don't think a 1500mah 3s will fit either, biggest I could fit in the battery tray was 850mah 3s. And I'm so sorry but I have more bad news, 36mm size motors won't fit these cars without MAJOR mods and a DIY motor mount, 28mm maximum so a 2850 will fit just! So sorry😕
@@rccrazy never mind brother...is ok...im also got think want to use more bigger wheel too..😅 want to do same like brother rc car also... brother have a nice days ..
@@rccrazy do the original wheels have foam? To me they feel really soft therefore I was looking to change them. But if they are filled already it will not make much of a difference I guess.
Oh sorry I didn't realise you were talking about the stock wheels having HBX wheels in this video, which do come with foam. No I don't think the stock wheels have inserts. In some cases it helps having foam inserts but I don't think it's necessary with these little cars just bashing around. But if you like to upgrade or just tinker on your cars then why not experiment😁
Thanks Michael👍 Yeah we couldn't get to my big speedrun road and I expected so much traffic or so many cars parked. The battery is ok, wasn't punctured so should be pretty safe still👌
@@rccrazy Interesting mate maybe because they heat builds even more inside. Also can’t see what’s going on with the hard case at least soft pack can tell straight away. Keep pumping out the content! 😎👍🏻🥳
These are one of my favourite wheels for smaller cars, they are so offset, I have never really had rolling issues with them. One tooth gone from the rear crown gear but they lasted a long time and very cheap to replace, definitely not complaining for the price.
I think you could fit around 1000mah upto maybe 1500mah 3s depending on brand. I just use 850mah because I know most should easily fit and get long enough run time.
Yes this car is awesome bashing on 3s with the stock system, no heat issues but just keep in mind more power could damage other components like diffs especially if your landing jumps with a lot of throttle or doing full throttle launches.
@@rccrazysorry man is the battery plastic piece tight when you put the zeee battery in? I can only find batteries that are like 3mm higher and don't wanna snap that plastic thing that holds the battery down. I can't find those zeee 100c batteries anywhere
@yCaraleowGamer only the non tabbed escs seem to run 3s. Some are held down by 3 screw tabs. If yours is held down by 3 screws DO NOT try 3s but if it has no tabs and is held down by double side tape then 3s may be OK.

Not really custom just modded to fit larger pinions. I don't think 36mm motors will fit due to lack of clearance, 28mm motor is basically sitting on the chassis already, you could cut out the chassis for the motor maybe🤔
@@rccrazy yes i mean modded the stock one. I bought one mjx hyper go brushless maybe will receive it another 2 or 3 days. I think maybe i will return it back and buy this one.
If you mean the stock esc then I would not recommend using 3s. A good 35a esc and upto 2838 4400kv motors may be OK on 3s but if you start going bigger motors like this 2847 4000kv motor I would highly recommend a 45a or higher esc for 3s. And 17t does not fit on these cars without modification, 18t or 22t mod0.6 only.

I can not help with wet or cold weather driving sorry, but as I said others have failed due to running a 3s lipo.
Thanks for the response! Mines still under warranty so I’m exchanging for a new one. What battery do you use? Maybe I bought bad battery.
Thanks for the response! Mines still under warranty so I’m exchanging for a new one. What battery do you use? Maybe I bought bad battery.
@bendavis4675 that's good!
That makes sense. Thanks for the help!
Just a quick question ive got this car and im about to receive some 3s battery whats the best esc you recommend or any other components i should uprade so that nothing blows up 😂
If you are going to use a hobby grade esc you will also need to replace the controller and receiver as you can not use the stock controller or receiver(2in1 board)
But I definitely recommend getting a good quality esc if you do go down that route, Hobbywing 40a or 50a will fit, I use the Hobbywing 10bl50a in mine now and it's flawless.
Please don't buy Surpass or GoolRC escs they are terrible😬
@@rccrazyok thank you for that ive looked around but cant seem to find that esc it would be amazing if you could send me the link if not thats ok thanks for the advise
The 10bl50a or the esc in the video?
Would you say the 850mah is enough? I usually use 2200mah in the MJX/HBX ones (3s)
What is best? The original lion or 2s? Whats faster and what about runtime? Also is it a big chance that the esc will breake on 3s?
On the orange truck was that all stock except for the Hbx wheels..88 kph is insane.what about motor and esc temps? Thanks for sharing
You are very welcome👍
Yes 100% stock but the HBX wheels and temps were fine👌
But one think you need to know if you don't already, there is two different versions of the esc, one with screw tabs that are for it mounting to the chassis, they do NOT survive 3s.
But yes almost every person that I know of that tried 3s on the tabbed ones they failed very fast and in some cases actual flames😬
I have blown one tabbed one on 3s in just a single pull of the trigger.

I would like your comments about this setup and if possible, make a video testing this setup for us ;-)
Firstly, thank you very much!🙏
But I'm afraid you have purchased a much too large esc, 50a may fit but 45a is plenty.
So sorry😕
Nice build
Thanks for checking it out👍

Sorry about the late reply.
Yes if you really wanted to you could use HUGE 1/10 monster wheels, not a good idea for the diffs though😵😅

Is it worth upgrading the tires with inserts?
Nice video btw 👍😎
Thanks👍
But sorry, I don't quite understand, the wheels have foam in them already.
@@rccrazy alright thanks. The upgraded shocks are on their way so u think that will improve a lot. Thanks for the reply 👍
Your welcome👍
Awesome man shame about so much traffic would be good if it was a dead end road. How’s the battery 😬😬😬
Thanks Michael👍
Yeah we couldn't get to my big speedrun road and I expected so much traffic or so many cars parked.
The battery is ok, wasn't punctured so should be pretty safe still👌
@@rccrazy Glad to hear You don’t like hard case battery’s?
Well it's not that I don't like them I've just never had any luck with hard cases, all failed in no time🤔
@@rccrazy Interesting mate maybe because they heat builds even more inside. Also can’t see what’s going on with the hard case at least soft pack can tell straight away.
Keep pumping out the content! 😎👍🏻🥳
That's it, at least you can somewhere keep an eye on soft cases👌
Working on content 24/7 pretty much mate, im just slow 🐌 😅
I like those HBX tyres but i find the car flips too easy once you use tyres above 85mm.
And have you stripped the gears yet with all that power?
These are one of my favourite wheels for smaller cars, they are so offset, I have never really had rolling issues with them.
One tooth gone from the rear crown gear but they lasted a long time and very cheap to replace, definitely not complaining for the price.
What size 3s battery can I get for this amazing car
I think you could fit around 1000mah upto maybe 1500mah 3s depending on brand.
I just use 850mah because I know most should easily fit and get long enough run time.
Extend the wheelie bar out like a drag car
I'm assuming you mean the JJRC, I'm not modifying anything major for on-road as it's staying a basher
Dads 😎 man
Hey was anything running hot after this on the scy with the 3s?
No it was fine on 3s.
I believe even running a 4s esc and lipo with the stock motor would still run cool just doing speedruns👌
@@rccrazy thanks for the quick response mate, you recommend having a bash on 3s with stock electronics?
Yes this car is awesome bashing on 3s with the stock system, no heat issues but just keep in mind more power could damage other components like diffs especially if your landing jumps with a lot of throttle or doing full throttle launches.
@@rccrazy legend thanks mate I'm goanna order one. Looking forward to see more of your videos
@@rccrazysorry man is the battery plastic piece tight when you put the zeee battery in? I can only find batteries that are like 3mm higher and don't wanna snap that plastic thing that holds the battery down. I can't find those zeee 100c batteries anywhere

@@rccrazy como conseguiu usar 3S?
@yCaraleowGamer only the non tabbed escs seem to run 3s.
Some are held down by 3 screw tabs.
If yours is held down by 3 screws DO NOT try 3s but if it has no tabs and is held down by double side tape then 3s may be OK.

Just did a 30minutes run with the drive rc truck. But I changed the 4000kv motor to a 3200kv and using a 4s battery haha. It's absolutely nutz
Well yes if your running 4s it's basically impossible to use full throttle so you should get decent run time.
How do you measure speed ?

With that custom motor mount, can u put 3650 motor in it?
Not really custom just modded to fit larger pinions.
I don't think 36mm motors will fit due to lack of clearance, 28mm motor is basically sitting on the chassis already, you could cut out the chassis for the motor maybe🤔
@@rccrazy yes i mean modded the stock one. I bought one mjx hyper go brushless maybe will receive it another 2 or 3 days. I think maybe i will return it back and buy this one.
Can i use 3s with a 35a esc a 4400kv motor and 17tooth pinion gear
If you mean the stock esc then I would not recommend using 3s.
A good 35a esc and upto 2838 4400kv motors may be OK on 3s but if you start going bigger motors like this 2847 4000kv motor I would highly recommend a 45a or higher esc for 3s.
And 17t does not fit on these cars without modification, 18t or 22t mod0.6 only.

@speedslidesandspeedrides1728 yes if the surpass esc is 3s capable then that setup should run fine on 3s on-road👌
