- I recently discovered the koncavka (overtone flute) and became fascinated with it. Then I realized, they're very simple to make yourself (there are a few tutorials on RUclips). This is my first attempt at making and playing one of these instruments.

My family has owned a machine shop since 1947 and we have three or four large Bridgeport vertical mills and there’s so much you can use them for! When I was young I started as a Machinist and around 19 I decided to use the advanced education I already had on car repair and I’ve been a Master Automotive Technician for over twenty five years until I unfortunately became disabled. But I was researching people making whistles and small wind whistle instruments from various materials! Great video and job very well done!!!! Thanks again for such a great video!

Nice one thank you- works great- I just used a 1" standard coupling at the top, worked fine, friendlier to the lips

I was actually thinking the same thing. I'm going to sand off all the logos and then I was wondering what would be the best way to decorate it. Paint? Stain? Dye? I don't have much experience with PVC. Paint seemed to work when I did the PVC didgeridoo.

The ratio (diameter/lenght) should be 1:30 to get more notes easily
It sounds like you might have built a few of these. I appreciate the experience (this was my first time as the title suggests). I'm assuming that's interior diameter you're referencing? So with a 3/4" pipe, I'd want it to be about 22.5" long. Maybe I'll try that next.
Just saw your reply (8 months later!) 😅 So yeah, basically the higher the ratio, the easier it will be to reach those higher harmonics.
Any recorder can be payed as an over-tone flute.
True. Except for the fact that you'd have to keep your fingers over all the holes so it would be hard to get the end opening. I guess you could put tape over all the holes and then use it like an overtone flute. That actually might be a fun experiment. Thanks for the idea.
