My wife is Slovak and we live in Slovakia. Her father makes fujaras and plays them too. He makes them with lots of carved decorations. He goes to festivals and wears traditional costumes.
please keep making these. I am a young women from Slovakia that has moved to the US. I am looking to spread my heritage and build my owm fujara very soon. Thank you!
I've been looking for an instrument to try after having played saxophone for several years. My lineage is traced back to Slovakia, and the fujara has such a beautiful sound.
Dear Winne, I am looking forward to another lessons from you. I have three fujaras from my work time in Slovakia. I am retired and now I have enough time to start practise them. Besides of creativity related to any music instrument it is excellent recovery exercise for lungs during my recovery after COVID I have passed through Christmas time last year. Yours sincerely Alex
Thanks, glad they are helpfull! I am focussed on making instruments at the moment but will make time soon to do it I hope :) You can support me on my patreonpage to help me make more time to make video's - if you want. I don't want advertisements on my channel but I need income so I work in my workshop now. With more support I could make more videos :))) Cheers! www.patreon.com/mesmerizingsounds
Thank you so much for these videos!!! My father brought a fujara over from Slovakia to Canada (where we live now). It has been sitting in our house for over 30 years and nobody really knew how to play it. I picked it up a couple fo years ago started to learn to play it by ear. I am very happy to learn some more and improve through this series. Thank you again!
Namste sir, I am Rajveer Singh from India. Music lover and flute plaer. you are doing very. I see this type of flute first time. I like your flute sound and music, it's very nice.So amazing.
Thank you Winne. I have played alto sax for years and have wanted to add the fujara to the collection. This, along with your performance are golden. You’re awesome at what you do, thank you for your service!
Yeaaaaah Winne, how great. So happy with your lessons on the Fujara. I play the fujara flute since 2016 I got from Kees Peters from Tilburg. Longing so much for tutorials cause I could not improve myself.
This is a WONDERFUL instrument ! I felt in love with this sound years ago, without knowing which kind of instrument it was. Then I saw a video where Winne was playing... and I bought him a fujara ! I don't play every day, but every time I play, this is so magical for me: you hold the instrument close to your body, and you think like the sound is a part of yourself. I guess this is what is used here : ruclips.net/video/RUODWSb-mk4/видео.html
Thank you for this video. Looking forward to the next Fujara videos to come. Very nice instrument! Rich sound. I wish it was mine ;-) Good luck and take care!
Hello and thank you, I have been playing didjeridu for 23 years as a hobby. I would love to learn how to play fujara. I would like to get a instrument from you unless you recommend otherwise. It seems I could get a fairly inexpensive one on Etsy locally I am here in California. But think it would be better to get one from a master like yourself. Thanks
Hello Jahru, well I guess that choice is all up to you :) if you want to discuss the options please contact me trough my website: fujaraflutes.com - thanks :)
Hi! I just ordered a Moseno flute from Peru. Is that flute technique the same way as this one you are showcasing? They look the same except they are held differently and the Moseno doesn't have the straw mouthpiece that goes into the sound pipe.
Sounds mesmerizing! :) would you recommend fujara to someone who has no experience in woodwind instruments? I'm so in love with the fujara but have doubt in myself as a player without a teacher nearby
Hi Anja, sure you could learn by yourself, I did too. I will make a couple of these online tutorials, they should help you out a lot :) skype lessons are optional as well- cheers!
Another thing : "The very fondamental" note, the loudest : I can play the G, then A - B - C, but then it's impossible for me to reach the upper notes (D E F) until the next G. Is it normal ? And also : I really like the last seconds of the video ! :D
Hello Jean -Marc, when you close all the holes you should be able to play (from the first octave so "fundamental" ) G D G B D F G A B highest notes might be difficult depending on your technique and also your fujara. , then when you use the bottom hole open and closed: G A D E G A B C and then the rest as before with holes closed so D F G A B Hah yes the ending, you might have been the first to have actually seen it hah ;-)
@@1fujara I meant when I open the hole one by one (the note which follow each other in the scale, from the loudest note "G": i can play G-A-B-C, but not D-E-F).
@@1fujara Also, I never realized the first, most-playable note was actually the octave harmonic (not the fundamental)! Cool hearing the actual fundamental though (my speakers are good!!)

Beautiful instruments, these must take much time to build, how do you hollow out your wood, or is this a secret?
no secret, I use handforged drills for this and strech the wood in a homemade device :) check my instagram @mesmerizingsounds
Great movie and explanation :-)

What is a koncocka?
Were can I buy a good fujara for relatively small money ? (I m a student 😬)
good and cheap don't usually mix , however you can buy a decent folklore fujara in Slovakia for about about 400 euro- try Google :)
Is it possible to play chromatically over two octaves as on a classical flute ?
❤️
