Flying on Alaska's "Milk Run"
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 окт 2024
- The Milk Run refers to the daily circuit of Alaska Airlines flights that hop between towns in Southeast Alaska, serving as a lifeline for the communities that aren’t always connected by roads to the outside world. In aviation, the term “milk run” refers to a scheduled flight with many stops, or a routine journey.
This was the coolest video I've filmed yet! Alaska is my #1 favorite state, so it was a pleasure documenting this historic flight. I recommend following me on Instagram @quintinsoloviev & @qfsaviation to keep up with my travels as they happen!

Quintin that's cool that you know the Mayor of Nome! Awesome buddy!

I recognize that Captain voice - Dan Pike. Always ready with a sense of humor and our Safety Leader!
Thomas Ryan, IV how do you recognize?
YDC RefleX I’ve flown with Dan many times when he was my co-pilot before he became a Captain.
Thomas Ryan, IV Sick! I’m a future pilot ready to go to flight school!
The Cabin looks Excellent for an aircraft that’s nearly 20 years old! Also, how awesome that you got to see the Mayor of Nome on your flight again and that he recognized you! Shows you how “small” (yet huge) and community based Alaska is, awesome! Truly beautiful! Hope you enjoyed the flight!
Glad someone reviewed this flight. The views of Alaska are amazing.
I love Alaska everyone is so friendly. Have not been back in a while.that view is breathtaking
hector cruz yeaa sadly Juneau is full of drunks and pill poppers but once you get past that it’s decent unless you don’t like rain
Amazing scenery, amazing footage, amazing quality as always... Please keep up the great work and thanks for sharing this epic journey with us!
14:28 super low level turn there! The JNU approach is pretty cool!
holy crap that looked like a fun trip! thanks for sharing and taking me along. great job qman!!
Those are some crazy aircraft in Anchorage and beatiful winter mountain shots from the air. This run is like that United/Continental "Island Hopper" from Hawaii across the South Pacific...but colder.
Alaskan sceneries look pretty amazing!
Awesome trip!
I did not realize how big of an aviation enthusiast you really are that's cool I been in the airline industry for a long time and love it more and more.
Always incredibly beautiful flying (or driving) anywhere in ALaska!
I watched this while doing the Milk run on my X plane 11 simulator XD
I love your channel. You travel all around the world, and it's awesome that your sort of in my neck of the woods. I'm from Dutch Harbor, AK. It would be awesome if you could visit out here and do a trip report on that, but I'm not necessarily suggesting it due to the expensive tickets. It's a great place though.
@@QFSAviation that's awesome. I'd highly recommend doing it in the summer. There's hiking and fishing and lush green mountains in the summer, but right now it's not very nice. I should warn you though, that weather conditions can delay flights, and in busy times like June and January it can take days to get a seat. I'd suggest July or August. :)
I have done both SEA-KTN-WRG-PSG-JNU-ANC and SEA-JNU-YAK-CDV-ANC trips. Was nice way to see SE Alaska in a relatively quick manner. Nice video I must say.
Love that you came here, I live here in ANC
thanks for sharing! Amazing footage, thanks for the detailed captioning
Thank you so much!
yet again beautifully done
Amazing I ride that flying for arrive Ketchikan, Alaska and Seattle, Washington but now no more for Milk Run. Love kind flying go and stop. Love it Alaska Airlines! Best airplane!
Awesome video man! It was awesome to watch
Thank you!!!!
Much Appreciated.for showing beautiful landscapes of Alaska.Hope to be there someday.
If you ever make it here visit the Mat-Su valley and Hatcher's Pass
I like to have coffe with my side and watch your videos I enjoy
It is so fun and so relaxing to see your videos . Thanks for uploading them
Awesome video! Thanks for taking us along on your journey!
Thank you for watching! 😁
This is the most awesome video I've seen! I traveled 40+ countries. It's very touching for people who like traveling to remote locations. Aviation wise, you SHOULD have make a couple of frames in each of these tiny terminals. That would be a great catch!
WoW! Quintin you did a great job on this video! Giving information about the view out the window was totally awesome. I have lived in Alaska since a kid and have done that "milk run", but you made it come to life. Thanks!!
Thank you so much! Wow what was it like growing up in Alaska? It’s my favorite state 😁
@@QFSAviation I lived on a homestead and enjoyed the full wilderness experience that you read about. Life was good.
One of the best videos of a plane trip I've ever seen. Brilliant
Thank you so much!
Very nice video! There is also a flight called the " Island Hopper" serviced by the United Airlines. The flight depart Honolulu early in the morning and final stops is in Guam that arrives at 5pm. There is a 2hrs different between HON and GUM. Here are the segments of the flight: Hawaii, Majuro, Kwajlein, Kosrae, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Guam. I enjoy this island hopper so much, hopefully someday you'll be experiencing this routs :-)
Thank you! Maybe I’ll try it soon
fantastic trip...enjoyed the stops...reminded me of the old days...the thrill of multi takeoffs and landings...beautiful views...........good job Q :)
Thanks! This was a very cool flight indeed 😎
Hands down....Q is my favorite trip report videographer.
Thank you so much!
Quintin, thank you for showing your face and talking. I would love to see you do this more often. You are a handsome young man and have a lot to say. I am sorry you had food poisoning and had a lousy time upon landing. I have stayed at that Double Tree. Look forward to more of your vids and you appearing in them !
Those little pocket size towns look to cute from the air...And you can always tell the airports in those small towns. They tend to take up one whole side of the small twon or city....Cute....
Omg what a view, this is stunning
The mountains in Alaska reminds me of that in Portland
The Knik Arm is the northern part of the Cook Inlet, the Cook inlet connects to the Gulf of Alaska about 180 miles south.
Wow, what a great island hopping ride on the western edge of AK. Interesting seeing a small passanger jet. Alaska is truly beautiful. I'm sooo jealous.... Florida resident.
Wow this looks like a got to-do list on my bucket list the scenery is absolutely beautiful in Alaska Enjoy the video very much
Fabulous video! Such a beautiful state! Thank you for sharing!
I loved we have 3 flight attendants use to speaking French on the Airbus so help them out show them where things are. (Aka you know many people fly this flight at least once or twice a week and prob know as much as most of the crews working the flight)
Hahaha, that made me laugh, so I had to include his announcement in the video!
Nice!!!😍😁
I got to fly the northbound milk run ASA 65 on the Combi aircraft! It was an amazing flight and great views
Lettin them engines eat. 💪💪💪
One of your best videos.
Thanks!
Nice! At 5:13 did someone say “Oh s***?” It sounds like it!
Yup
Yes sir
Ye
Reminds me of mixed trains of the 20th Century. They would make stops along the way for both passengers and freight. In addition, there were often milk cars on those trains, along with on some regular passenger trains. Kinda the “milk run” of yesteryear.
Ah cool! That’s a nice comparison
QFS Aviation my dad has a bunch of old (and not so old) railroad books that document old rail operations. Only to mention the mini-series “Railroad Alaska” which documents similar Alaskan “lifeline” transportation in the present decade.
You should do the United airlines island hopper from Honolulu to Guam. It has like 5 stops on little atoals
your hot
Amazing video! I think I have now watched all your Alaska videos today, and I already wanted to visit, but now I REALLY wanna go! Do you have Barrow (UTQIAGVIK) Alaska on your future trips? That is another bucket list place for me!!!
Again Great Videos!!!
I agree with your opinion on Alaska’s old livery especially with the scimitars!
I am a former employee of Alaska Airlines who was based in Anchorage. I remember talking the milk run many, many times so I could get to the "lower 48".
Simply fantastic to see a milk run in Alaska by Alaska Airlines! Great job! Also very funny to hear the comments from the flight attendant about Airbus v. Boeing at the start of the video! xD
Quite funny when you remember that Alaska bought Virgin America - who had an *all Airbus fleet* - and are receiving VX's inherited orders for new Airbuses.
"Proudly all Boeing" no more...
Reading others' comments on this vid,I too would agree that this is Alaska's version of the "Island Hopper' that UA flies between HNL-GUM--with only a 10 minute flight time between Petersburg and Wrangell, would be interesting to price a FC ticket between the two 'cities'--I'm guessing Alaska has a monopoly on flights into these various stops and can charge what they want--interesting that KTN proclaims itself as an 'international' airport--true,Canada isn't far away but are there other destinations outside of North America that are flown? Got the impression that once you arrived at ANC,you simply hung out at the airport till it was time to board the Milk Run--by the time you arrived at KTN,you must've been exhausted! Paying only $542 for FC with all this flying around, the price looks very reasonable!
0:41 Ryan Air LOL! Wonder what Rynanair´s CEO Michael o Leary thinks of that airline name
He’s probably jealous since these guys know how to butter the bread
Wow nice and interesting tripreport!, would love to try this route.Having multiple takoff and landings would be fun!:))
Bravo!! The best travel video so far.
Thank you so much!
AWESOME!
Wow what spectacular views and the snow! What month did you fly this in?
watching this again today just because Quebec Foxtrot Sierra is flying it it again today!!
Catching up on a lot of your videos The milk run looks fun Somehow the Coca-Cola's look more refreshing on Alaska Airlines
Nice video Q - I thought you would not get off of the dam plane kid! hahahahaha Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Hahaha I wanted to stay in Alaska!
Really great video!
Could I ask what specific songs you used?
Thank you! They were downloaded from the music service "Epidemic", so I believe they'll show up on Spotify
Looking very nice..Smooth music along with your cool video is great.
Sweet video as always! Also it was very cool how you met the mayor!
Thank you! Richard is a very cool guy 😁
Amazing!
Yes, many small town only have jet stairs..It is cute to see that but I need warm weather for coming down the stairs....Hugs...
Qfs what an amazing video dude you rock
Thank you so much Hector!
2:50 Ryan air LoL🤣
what? oh yeah there 737 bad
FYI You are in the Tongass National Forest from when you point out Gustavus till you leave Alaska
Amazing review! The 737-700 is my favorite boeing aircraft! Sad alaska dosen't fly this route with the -400 combi anymore even though I prefer the -700.
What I find fascinating is it just does not look like a commercial airline belongs in the smaller airports.
Its a lifeline for many of these communities though, as they have no roads that extend past the town
Nice! I can’t believe I asked you if you were doing it while you were doing it on insta😂 but yes I say voiceoverpete in there lol too much words for this just going to leave it with a like🤣
Good video, enjoyed it. Still my fav trip reporter
Thank you so much! :)
Hold up I thought the Milk Run went Anchorage - Cordova - Yakutat - Jeneau - Sitka - Peterburg - Wrangell - Ketchikan - Seattle
BURspotter there are actually several different routes. There is ANC-CDV-YAK-JNU-SEA, then ANC-JNU-SIT-KTN-SEA, and then this one in the video. And, in reverse of course.
aps_ak oh okay thanks
I subscribed your channel after watching this video.
VERYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD

I’ve got my own song in the works 😩
Thanks QFS !!!
Dont know if you already made it but you should *DEFINETELY* try Virgin Atlantic's economy class in a 747-400. It is BRILLIANT !! Yes I'm talking about economy !! I dont know if it changed bcs last time I flew'em it was 5 years ago. But It is the BEST economy flight I've ever had so far !!!!!
I've been planning on flying Virgin Atlantic's A340 soon! I'll be sure to try it :)
My dreams trip on my next trip to Seattle
Epic trip repot Q; even better you pointing out all the terrain. Was that a tankering flight? 👍💯 RgY.
Amazing Alaskan footage.
😁
Wow very nice vid. It sounded like you had an awesome captain.
Thank you! Yes we did 😁
Nice video. I'm a retired 747 Cargo pilot. I miss my Anchorage layovers.
Thanks! Awesome! Would you stay the night at ANC?
@@QFSAviation I don't know if he has but I have run into enough off duty cargo pilots at Chilkoot Charlie's and Darwin's Theory to know that plenty of them have night layovers. Got to know a Russian pilot who flew for AirBridgeCargo and he said that he would have a 1 night layover in Anchorage about every month.
Nice video! Are Air Alaska still flying Max8, they are grounded!?
Thanks! They actually don’t operate any yet, they have an order scheduled for delivery this summer
Hello on July 4 2020 I am on my way flying to Anchorage Alaska from Fresno California I am looking forward to this trip visit my sister and her family Thank you Mike Principe
on southwest airlines they dont let you deplane but you can switch seats if you want to
This flight kinda reminds me of the United Airlines Island Hopper
Those CFM56s are insane
I loved it...the best vedeo
Would love to take this trip as well as the Island Hopper on United
Very interesting report! Juneau looks like a pretty small operation. How many gates do they have? Also, any plans to try the United Island hopper across the Pacific? I really want to fly it some day!
Thank you! Juneau has 3 gates I believe. I’ve had my eye on the Pacific hopper, so maybe sometime this year!
Welcome to Alaska
How many total hours of flying time from ANC - SEA ( milk run flight) Is that the only routes? Or have others milk run flights ?
17:38 They must have misaligned the ils due to lack of ground connections on the 737 ng the ils cannot operate without either ground power or the apu. I am an airbus pilot so it’s adirs for us. But same story.
what window mount for your go-pro do you use? Do you have a link?
Ya gotta come to sitka
N614AS is an actual model you can buy
What camera are you shooting on?
great vid mate dropped you a sub
Man I’d wish they have a 787 in their modern livery.
That would be stunning 😁
