Hi Catherine. My vote is to paint your wardrobe--more cream rather than wood tones will keep your room lighter. I am in Canada, and many antiques are "protected" by a tar like coating under the paint. YUK! I wanted to strip a bureau and when I discovered the tar, the bureau became a lovely creamy yellow, which is Paradise!!! Hugs from Canada.
Catherine, our last cat “Ziggy” would get impatient, get into the windowsill and leap on my husband’s stomach! What a violent awakening. She was just a medium sized tabby, but felt like she weighed 25# when leaping from that sill. (She didn’t jump on me, that was interesting!) 🎨
My mam (in her 90's) has a little cat she adopted a couple of years ago but she doesn't let him upstairs at bedtime. If she has an afternoon nap in her chair after a couple of hours he gives her a gentle pat on her cheek to wake her letting her know its feeding time. Great video.
Your bedroom looks nice the way it is including your shabby shriek wardrobe. You already have enough wood elements in the room. My cat pats me on my face to wake me up…which always reminds me to clip her nails.
I love your wardrobe just the way it is. And you already have some nice wood pieces. And it is such a big job!!! Be kind to yourself and find another more simple project. Also love your bedding. Here in Australia it is spring and soon the hot days of summer will be here. ❤
What a beautifully warm, fun feline moments and cosy cuddles video Catherine. I adore your fur babies and their antics, the furtive crawling along the top inside of your wardrobe was hilarious! Having lived through the 1970’s brown wood everything has left me wanting white, white, white nowadays. I have a beautiful Rimu kitchen but after nearly 30 years I am about to change the doors etc for white shaker style. Your kitchen is a great inspiration for light and bright too. So, as to your bedroom wardrobe - I’m for 🎨!
🎨 is going to be so much easier seeing as you can’t move the wardrobe and it’s in your bedroom. Also think of the mess and smell of stripping the old paint off. Love the green accent on your bed ❤
I am in the process (b/c rain) of painting some old furniture with chalk paint. I love the way chalk paint covers anything without stripping. Wax finish gives some shine and depth.🎨
I envy your lovely fall rainy day. Such fun to see your cozy home. I say paint🖌----the strip seems to be too hard, especially in the bedroom. The final choice is yours of course. It is a beautiful piece!
Hello Catherine, hope you are well. Stripping the wardrobe would be a huge task, but would look lovely in the end. Would you make it a whole Autumn/Winter task, so you can still be out in your beautiful garden. Take care of you . Lexie🪵
I like your armoire as is ....and your mix of dark woods, painted pieces. It all blends nicely and yet each has its own spotlight since they are each individually unique. 😊
The “foot attack” protection blanket made me laugh! My cats have to be kept out of my room at night because one of them knocks things down and breaks them for attention. Now all she can do is bang on the door with her paws. Every morning, there she is, banging and pulling at the door for her breakfast. 😂
Lots of furniture Reno RUclipsrs use a scraper to remove old paint, it cuts down on sanding/stripping. Then use an eco friendly stripper and wire wool, followed by a gentle sand. I’d love to see it back to wood but ultimately it depends on the condition after all the stripping is done. There are gel stains available which cover up a multitude of sins and leave a much more even finish.
The cabinet is fine the way it is. I'm looking for one just like one right now. Finally got your second book this month. It's just as wonderful as your first one I also bought. Your so cute.
I love it painted! If you strip it to wood, it may be to dark in the room. You are so fun to watch. So talented! Love your videos. Thank you for sharing. 💕
Since I retired and sleep late my 9 cats have pretty much left me alone. If I get up at 6am to use the bathroom I give them a handful of treats and that holds them over!
Hi Catherine.. love the look of your drop-down desk with white trim and natural door and drawers . The flower motif is beautiful. What do you think doing something similar to your wardrobe. It might be easier to camouflage the repairs if that part is painted. 😊 just a thought. ❤ you do you. I'm sure what ever you decide will be lovely.
Great vid , My rescue cat Tadgh lingers on in bed watching me get ready for work , and is particularly welded to the bed now the electric blanket is back in action . Great tip for removing cat hair off duvet covers- empty hot water bottle, fold in half, make the sheet taunt and scrape the hot water bottle over the cover, so much hair comes off to just hoover up then. Happy Halloween all, Jo , Dublin :)
My cat first jumps on my pillows to disturb my head, then takes to patting my am or face, to get up and feed her. It always makes me smile and she wins every time.
My cats have learned that if they scratch the glass window, I will scramble to make them happy. An idea for the wardrobe is to paint it a wood shade and apply black wax with a brush to make it look like wood. Lone Fox did this recently in a video, and it's inspired me to do that for my upcycled bookcases.
I have 3 cats .. I get woken up each morning by either my face being licked, my hair being groomed or being aware that I am being stared at and willed to get out of bed to make breakfast 🎨🎨🎨🎨
Definitely pine, probably victorian , I used to have a shop selling country pine furniture , the feet are called bun feet 😊 would look lovely tided up with a fresh coat of paint and maybe some handles .
🎨 it. It will look lovely once you decide what color to use. May I suggest to match it to your floral secretary desk. Less work and lovely results. All my best.😊
It’s charity shops for me, I love browsing in them. A couple of weeks ago I saw a lovely tartan cushion for £1 well I just had to have it. I took the cover off to wash through, and the inner cushion was spotless. So that went on one couch, then I saw another cushion in another charity shop the other day, completely different pattern but it is on the second couch, along with the two 2 red ones on each couch it has just made the room cosier. I spotted 2 green ones today hmmmmmmm I may just go back for them if they are still there.
Cats are universal when it comes to making the bed. They must assist. It's raining here, too. That's happened more than once; raining there, raining here in Wisconsin, USA.
My cat wakes me about 5am every morning she comes into my bedroom and scratches the wardrobe till I get up and feed her then she wants to go out into the garden sometimes I go back to bed depending on how tired I feel but during the summer months I tend to stay up I get so much done before my breakfast
Always love your videos Katherine, and I hope you are doing alright. In regards to your big cabinet, I like the white but have sensed your decor style is shifting more. If you want a change (since wood can vary in tones so much) what about a mossy green like the bedding you just put on!? Just a thought! Stay cozy!!
I like how your wardrobe is. It has such character! I’d leave as it, although I know that’s not an option you have. IF you are going to refinish it, I’d strip it first and see what the wood underneath looks like before you decide.
The marks left o n the windows from my sugar (cat) I call kitty kisses 🥰, she always likes to help me make our bed😁. In January she will be 12yrs. Love your video , first time. Thank you.

Maybe strip it and paint a lovely shade of sage?😊❤
That was my choice! Sage green paint.

🎨🎨
Paint the cabinet green! ❤
Yes! Would give your room a refresher and change it up a bit. Laughing out loud here at the cat antics 🤩
Nothing better than fresh bedding and cosy blankets 🎨
🪵...I know it will be a lot of work but I'd love to see the wardrobe stripped! I'm telling you to strip yours while I'm contemplating painting mine 😅❤
I love your wardrobe just the way it is. And you already have some nice wood pieces. And it is such a big job!!! Be kind to yourself and find another more simple project. Also love your bedding. Here in Australia it is spring and soon the hot days of summer will be here. ❤
I love the way the armoire looks now. Rustic.... which I love ❤️
Definitely strip it would love to see the colour underneath ❤
Another option due to multiple repairs is to paint it and add some wallpaper to the front door panels the piece across the top. 🎨
You are a hard working girl. You always help motivating me. Thanks for sharing.

Catherine, lovely, just lovely.
I also like the idea of decals, and trim pieces that are available.
Definitely 🎨

🎨 fresh coat of paint always makes things look better. I definitely want one of those mattress toppers. It looks so comfy

I like to change curtains, cushions and bedding from summer to winter, lifts my spirits! Your home looks so cosy and welcoming Catherine love Margaret
100% strip it. It might be something other than pine if it’s heavy. 🪵
I love the green accents on your bed. I also do a seasonal refresh in my home
The cabinet is fine the way it is. I'm looking for one just like one right now. Finally got your second book this month. It's just as wonderful as your first one I also bought. Your so cute.
I'm watching from the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas.
My cats do this too every time I change my bedding too.❤
I love it painted! If you strip it to wood, it may be to dark in the room. You are so fun to watch. So talented! Love your videos. Thank you for sharing. 💕
My cat Muffin (sadly no longer with us) used to snuggle under the covers in winter. She was the best hot water bottle.
Since I retired and sleep late my 9 cats have pretty much left me alone. If I get up at 6am to use the bathroom I give them a handful of treats and that holds them over!
Hi Catherine. My choice would be 🎨😊

My Charlie girl puts her cold beans on my face or back to wake me up😂❤
I vote for stripping the cabinet, or refinishing it like your dining table. Halfway between wood and white?
Maybe wood and paint with the flowers stencilled like ur chest of drawers would be lovely
Strip it and do a similar detail as the chest of drawers beside the bed... pait, wood and decals..❤❤
Paint ❤
🎨 A fresh coat of paint will work wonders. Stripping it back could be very dark for such a large piece of furniture.
I loved watching your cats play!
Gosh, hard question you posed on us. How about strip, repair and then new paint. 😂 🎨
Your bed looks so cozy! ❤

Cuddles not kaos 😻
My cats will get up on my bed and flop down on my face. It's very effective at getting me up.
With the repairs that need done to it I’d paint it, I’d always notice the repairs
Paint🎨 loved your video x
