Fun fact: that alien language that Leeloo is speaking was invented by her actress Mila Jovovich. She speaks English, Russian, Serbian, and French so she worked out something that manages to sound both strange yet intelligent
The Fifth Element is a truly unique film: it's bizarre, absurd, hilarious and a whole lot of fun. While some people might not get it because of how weird and different it is, personally I've never seen anyone watch it that didn't end up loving it. Glad that you enjoyed this one, it's a real gem.
I find it interesting that the main protagonist (Korbin) and the main antagonist (Zorg) never actually encounter each other throughout the entire film (the closest they got was during the evacuation of Floston Paradise).
I saw Milla in a hair color commercial once and when I saw her, I yelled out "multipass" just when she said "multi-faceted" but the overlap was perfect. Crazy moment!
In this movie Chris Tucker "Ruby Rode" had is best role hahahha!!!! He is so funny and more in french! This movie is so good Thank you to react, beautiful ladies.
One interesting fact about this film, is that the main hero, Korben Dallas, never actually meets the main villain, Zorg, throughout the whole film. Nor are they even aware of each others existence.
agree on the not meeting.. but Korben probably knew about Zorg, as he was working for one of his companies. In the beginning Zork fires 1 Million employees - Korben is one of them (szene with the Chinese cook).
@@ThorDyrden Probably is not the same as they “did” knew. It’s pure speculation to state whether Korben knew of him or not. The film never directly stated otherwise & the likelihood of any low employee knowing or ever meeting a CEO of a major company is strongly low. I work for a major company & not once have I ever met a top running CEO of my company, nor am I even aware of his name or what he/she looks like.
I really love how quickly the director sets up the Mondochiwans (big robot guys in the beginning) as good guys, with very little dialogue. A lot of people's first impression of them is that they were killing the humans, but I find that highly unlikely based on what they are trying to do. But at the end of that opening scene, the last alien sums up their entire philosophy pretty well. "Time not important....only LIFE important" and then proceeds to give up their life to make sure the key is able to be recovered and protected. That's a pretty devoted species right there, to devote their ENTIRE society to the monitoring, protection of, and execution of this device, to take down an evil force that shows up so rarely as to be legend for most beings. But they just keep on protecting
Several things in this film happened as a surprise for Bruce Willis: the strange appearance of the Diva, and that she could really sing ( watch his face ), the rack of suits was also a surprise ( made him smile ), and some of Ruby Rhod was improvised and he had to answer with two word sentences; also improvised. While this is a very French movie, much of it was made in Britain, and it shows. The priest is Bilbo Baggins, the explosive destruction of some sets after use ( the fire service was standing by for the Flohston Paradise set destruction ), and that nice helpful sailor who shout 'we're sending someone in to negotiate!' Is a well-known comedian Lee Evans ( he's worth looking for ).
HAHAHA! when Hella said 'Autowash!' when the military guys were iced over in the fridge, I just about lost my brain laughing, that was perfect~ Aaaaahh, I love when people find this movie, it is a singularly weird and enjoyable sci-fi adventure that's a lot more than it appears to be at times ✨
This movie is so weird and different but SO GOOD! I love it! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The diva's performance is great and the ending is surprisingly touching.
The director and co-screenwriter is Luc Besson. He's from France and there is a long history of science fiction in that country including author Jules Verne back in the late 1800s. Being French, Besson has an eye for set, creature and costume designs you don't normally see in Hollywood pictures. The creation of Leloo from the DNA of the alien was the first time I recall seeing a sophisticated 3D printer in action. French movies are also more open to sexually charged scenes than Hollywood films. I really enjoy this film a lot and I think you 3 did a great job reacting to it. Maybe someday you can do one for an earlier Besson film called "La Femme Nikita" (it is in French). That is more of a straight ahead action/thriller film and its main character is a female assassin who can fight very well against men as well. Also, Besson had married (and divorced) both the actresses Anne Parillaud (Nikita) and Milla Jovovich (Leeloo).
The first part of the Diva's song is from an opera; it's named 'Il dolce souno' from 'Lucia de Lammermoor' by Donazetti, also known as the 'Mad scene' The whole aria is looong, because Donazetti.
Another detail I liked as far as fun foreshadowing, is twofold. 1. When we first see the 5th Element's container on Earth, we are shown the sarcophagus from a top down perspective. And we see the design is that of a humanoid face, looking up at the sky, mouth open wide, eyes closed. It looks like it's in pain, but after seeing the end, you realize it's to symbolize what the 5th element actually does. And then later on, when they are bringing in the DNA of Leeloo to recreate her, it's just a glove holding a handle. But when you see the shapeshifting aliens bringing the crate to Zorg, there is very clearly a missing right handle. Implying she was also holding the box with the stones "in" it, though we know that was a trick. Just a nice bit of detail that I loved.

Just subscribed. This was the video that was recommended to me by youtube algorithm. Instantly clicked because it's one of my favorite movies. Loved hearing your opinions! Looking forward to seeing your older videos now 😄
23:40 Korben was not fired from his job because of the military. The message telling him he's fired (read by the Asian cook) was from Zorg - the same company, whose evil boss Zorg told to fire 1 million cab drivers. Apparently Korben was one of them 🙂
Don't forget, he'd just lost the last "point" on his drivers license while trying to escape the police with Leeloo, so he wasn't able to legally drive any more.
Another angle, in addition to your point: Germans then (and now) were associated with tech. (Tanks were about to be used, in WW 1.) Early mechanical devices were large, lumbering, and inflexible. The guardians of the stones (the Mondoshiwan aliens) are massive, stubby, slow-moving and covered with metal (like the early tanks of WW 1). If the professor had seen drawings or sketches of German tanks, it wouldn't be unreasonable in his mind, to associate those with the bizarre figures standing in front of him.
...and we first used tanks in Sep 1916 more than 2 yrs after the stary of the war. As for tank usage in WW2, rather than the Germans I would argue that British military thinkers like Hobart, Fuller and espacially Liddell-Hart were the originators of modern armoured warfare. But perhaps I'm a little biased 😄
Hello Chi, Tiên, and Hella. The genre of this movie is called "Cyberpunk". The genre features a dystopian future where technology is highly advanced but society still has heavy elements of oppression and corruption. The story might focus on a class of people that don't have complete access to the benefits and luxuries of that technology. Another cyberpunk movie(s) you would enjoy is Blade Runner I (1982 ) & II (2019). I'm not sure they would do well in a RUclips reaction video because they're long and dialogue heavy with themes that require a degree of contemplation. You love movies so watch them on your own though. They're cult classics. Some people argue that the Star Wars films are part of the Cyberpunk genre as well.
I love your channel seeing you react to Western media from a Vietnamese perspective! You are all so sweet in your commentary! Hella, you are my favorite and I look forward to watching you in future videos! I am subscribed to your channel and will look forward to all future videos you all do!
Personally, I think the people that are really negative about this movie are trying to get too much out of it. It's fun, pure and simple - just kick back and enjoy!
Like all French Sci-Fi, it loves the USA, and is tainted with the French approach to politics: entitled people / right-wingers ( Zorg ) are evil, have a Nazi's idea of 'improving the race' ( his economic rebuilding through death and destruction nonsense ), whuile slavish attention to tradition and the past merely make us puppets of the powerful, who may or may not have our interests at heart ( The Mondocheewans, including Leeloo ). Now, a question. The Mondocheewans trapped in the tomb's door back in the 1920s, where did he go? How?
So funny😂😂😂 I was just watching your react on "Full Metal Jacket"...You might also like "We Were Soldiers", with Mel Gibson. A good look into the Vietnamese command and strategy.
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti This movie influenced me also allot, one of the reasons today i am still a progressive futurist. i even played a couple years later the game which got me stuck on the same level for days.
“Just kiss her already!”.. great reaction. Love rewatching this once in awhile. It mostly got good reviews though some critics said some of the styles in “The Fifth Element” didn’t mesh. Most sci-fi since “2001:A Space Odyssey“ (1968) have had very realistic special effects with lots of action like the “Star Wars” or “Aliens” movies (or later “Gravity”, “Interstellar”, and “Ad Astra”). The idea is the audience lose themselves in the special effects in a “serious” storyline .. like Kubrick’s groundbreaking ones in 1968. This movie has some more “fun” elements.
I love this sci-fi comedy film! I think it was my 2nd encounter with Milla Jovovich prior to her "Resident Evil" franchise. (Later I watched her in an earlier film called "Chaplin" (1992) with Robert Downey Jr.. But my first exposure to Milla was her guest appearance in the TV sitcom, "Married with Children" in 1989 where she played a French exchange student who upstages Kelly Bundy at her highschool. In regards to the Fifth Element, that whole girl in the futuristic taxi cab scene reminded me of the animated sci-fi film, "Heavy Metal" (1981), where a Cab driver in the future encounters a beautiful girl and takes her back to his pad. Its a very violent film but also has several funny scenes in it too.
The Fifth Element is basically French Anime done live. If Cowboy BeBop was done in France or something. That is what got most of the bad reviews. Anyone aquainted with D&D, Anime, Tolken, etc, loved the movie. People who can't stand anything that far from mainstream hated it. ---- Although, some people hated the movie strictly due to Rhuby Rod. This blows my mind because I luv the character Rhuby, and Tucker's performance was incredible. (to be fair, the screeming got old quick, but other than that...) Rhuby pulls trigger: "Sorry! Do you think he will be ok?"
Just stop. Stop it. Are you stopped? Did you stop talking? Good. No, shhhh. Shhhhh. Don’t say “French anime” again. I’m serious. Now here’s what I want you to do. I want you to look up a French comic book artist named Moebius (sometimes spelled Möbius) and look at his work, particularly the work he did for a magazine called Heavy Metal (or Metal Hurlant in France). Also check out his graphic novel The Incal. Moebius is to this movie what H.R. Giger was to Alien. Except Giger got paid. Now gtfo with your French anime B.S. and go explore Moebius a bit. You’ll be glad you did.
@@MarcosElMalo2 Whether you like it or not this movie will give a lot of young people live action anime vibes. Its very colorful and creative with a love story and interesting group of people like a lot of anime, so obviously people will associate them. Be happy people still appreciate and enjoy it. Dont be a prick and people will consider your recommendations more. Getting triggered over it being compared to anime will just make people laugh at you and ignore what you have to say about Moebius.
You girls got it right. Many people like this movie because it is very creative and just fun. You got one part wrong though. When it first came out in theaters it did not do well. Not many people went to see it. Only later when it came on TV and home video people finally saw it and liked it.
Since you ladies enjoyed The Fifth Element so much, I would recommend you all watch "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" - another sci-fi movie from Luc Besson (same director). :)
@@Caderynwolf So did fifth element, its only decades later that its had a better outlook. i think Valerian will have a similar glowup in a decade or two but i still find it an inferior version of Fifth Element
She said, "There's no Green in the future except out of Ruby Rhod's mouth." Brilliant observation. Do you girls speak English to each other normally? It's clear you understand English just as well as a native speaker. How are your accents so strong if you have perfect comprehension? It's baffling to me, but I wouldn't change anything.

"Like shit."

Oui enfin un film français. Merci
Love your reactions
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful reaction. Thank yous.
Just subscribed. This was the video that was recommended to me by youtube algorithm. Instantly clicked because it's one of my favorite movies. Loved hearing your opinions! Looking forward to seeing your older videos now 😄
This movie is my one of my favorites of all time. It's being reacted to by my favorite girls. I can die happy now. Let's get staaaaaarted!
@@bigdream_dreambigWhich would make him a priority for downsizing.
@@ReddwarfIV Without being able to drive, I'm pretty sure he would have lost his job no matter what. 😆
Broken taxi too 😅
"Are you German?"
It was 1914. WW1 just started. The professor thought they were the bad guys.
@@tranya327the Germans were pretty much last to the party with tanks on ww1. The British pioneered their development, followed by the French.
@@wrc7285 Interesting. I WAS actually curious as to which country went first. :)
...and we first used tanks in Sep 1916 more than 2 yrs after the stary of the war. As for tank usage in WW2, rather than the Germans I would argue that British military thinkers like Hobart, Fuller and espacially Liddell-Hart were the originators of modern armoured warfare. But perhaps I'm a little biased 😄
"Bad guys". Sometimes I forget world blames us for WW1, too^^
Hello Chi, Tiên, and Hella.
I'd call "Freejack" a cyberpunk film as well.
As always. Yaws outfits are fire
I love your channel seeing you react to Western media from a Vietnamese perspective! You are all so sweet in your commentary! Hella, you are my favorite and I look forward to watching you in future videos! I am subscribed to your channel and will look forward to all future videos you all do!
32:33 - LOL!!!! Chi wants the scene to be skipped, whilst Hella and Tien are pulling naughty faces!
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful movie! I loved how much cheering and clapping was going on for this one!!! 👏👏👏
A great film. Such a fun ride. The scene where Leeloo learns about war gets me every time. And when the Diva gets shot- that’s a kick in the…gut.
This has been one of my favorite movies ever since I saw it in theaters ❤
Три янгола ❤️🇺🇦
How?
...I can't tell if you're trolling me or are really that po-faced...
Thanks, ladies.
And welcome back, Chi!
I forgot how much I LOVE this movie!
a fun action comedy that hasn't stopped gaining popularity since day one, and the future Miss Resident Evil in all her glory! 😊
While you mention Resident Evil.
I think Tien wears Alice outfits 😂
Again, great job; you three.
Fun Fact: All the females in this movie were Victoria Secret models.
Major Iceborg? Also Leeloo and the President's assistant.
Really enjoyed your reaction . It’s a great film , creativity, style, humour in abundance
The Five Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Sprit, the five points of the Pentagram.
Don’t you mean spurt? 😉 💧
So funny😂😂😂
I was just watching your react on "Full Metal Jacket"...You might also like "We Were Soldiers", with Mel Gibson. A good look into the Vietnamese command and strategy.
A classic. One of the best SF movie. Nice reaction.
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti This movie influenced me also allot, one of the reasons today i am still a progressive futurist. i even played a couple years later the game which got me stuck on the same level for days.
best entertainment on the internet you all are great

One of my favorite movies of all time. Glad my girl Chi is back, nice to see ya'll.
I was just gonna say that. Definitely top 5 for me.
2:58 "A- A- Are you German?"
I wonder how this reaction goes over in Germany.
----
Although, some people hated the movie strictly due to Rhuby Rod. This blows my mind because I luv the character Rhuby, and Tucker's performance was incredible.
(to be fair, the screeming got old quick, but other than that...)
Rhuby pulls trigger: "Sorry!
Hating The Fifth Element because of Ruby Rhod is like hating Shrek because of Donkey.
AZIZ LIGHT!!!
You guys are great thanks for another fun reaction!
This was Bruce Willis in his prime. Love this movie. ^^
Hella looking extra lovely today 🙂
You girls got it right. Many people like this movie because it is very creative and just fun.
You got one part wrong though. When it first came out in theaters it did not do well. Not many people went to see it. Only later when it came on TV and home video people finally saw it and liked it.
The cab driver scene with Bruce, was inspired by Heavy Metal movie scenes from 1981
a very full and proper reaction, good discussion at the end, unique and wonderful classic film, in fact i'll sub to you GREAT STUFF
If you like science fiction, I wish you could watch "Forbidden Planet". It's a very old movie, from 1956, but very good.
18:55 Ahahaha! I can't.
Since you ladies enjoyed The Fifth Element so much, I would recommend you all watch "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" - another sci-fi movie from Luc Besson (same director). :)
I recall that movie getting mixed reviews and a lot of hate. But I actually really enjoyed it.
@@Caderynwolf So did fifth element, its only decades later that its had a better outlook. i think Valerian will have a similar glowup in a decade or two but i still find it an inferior version of Fifth Element
@@alshabib5849 that is probably true in the USA, but in my country (any many others in Europe) it was resoundingly beloved.
The best 5th element reaction so far.
I think you all described the movie beautifully, i enjoyed you ladies enjoying it as well. Nice nice reaction thank you.
