This is great. I have 2 phones, a work one and a personal one. Using the tablet, you can only connect 1 becabus3 the tablet takes the other. Keeping the factory, you still can connect 2 phones
Great idea! I will give that a try. Thanks for the recommendation! Honestly, one night I searched all over the internet on how to connect hotspot automatically to the system and couldn’t find anything. I hope this works cause this would be a game changer for this system!
I found that when I turn the tablet's hotspot frequency from 5 ghz to 2.4 ghz it eliminated all of the CarPlay connection problems. Now it connects pretty much every time within 15-20 seconds. I do use a 4G T-Mobile SIM for data so I don't know how this works if you use onstar for your conenction.
I would rather just get a SIM card or use hotspot and use the regular apps on the tablet the CarPlay on this thing is a headache, using it this way seems like your going backwards you can only see the CarPlay on the factory portion of the screen
I initially tried to use AA but I got super frustrated. I ended up just not connecting to it through Zlink. My phone is connected to bluetooth for calls, and I got a At&t sim card that I pay 10/MO for. This way the stereo always has internet and my youtube music starts playing automatically when I start the truck. If I need navigation I use Google maps either full or split screen with music or youtube/Netflix playing on the other half. I LOVE this stereo. Definitely not perfect though.
Yea, having a WIFI plan is so much better with the system. I will check into the att SIM card, cause $10 a month is much better than the $20. Thanks for the insights on that. And yes for phone calls, using the factory module works just as the OEM system, the carlinkit is just a better option if people want it to be wireless.
@@zachattackcustoms I have the T-Mobile 30GB plan then throttled after that for $10/month with autopay, I just messaged them on twitter and asked for the "MI30TI" data only plan. They sent me a SIM in the mail. This is not a plan they advertise but is available to anyone, even without a voice line.
if i may ask, what the exact plan you use to get that working? i have cricket wireless's 15/month data plan and mines work for a few minutes after a reboot and just stops working unless i do a system reboot.
Wired Carplay works the best on the factory module. I have not tried wiring the phone cable to the usb's behind the screen, but I may try that. I would just have to find a way to run the wire to the center tray below the screen. I thought about also trying to hook up the CarlinKit 5.0 to the USB's behind the screen to see if I can install that app to use the big screen. I will update once I have tried both.
I can’t get any sound via Bluetooth.. wondering if i need to reinstall my factory unit to connect because it won’t let me connect via Bluetooth from the new unit strange
I've noticed that every video on here that the people are using apple iphones. Maybe that's why people are having such a hard time adjusting. I have android & I know when my daughter needs help with her iphone, I'm lost and have no clue how to do anything on it.
You are correct. Going back and forth between android and apple is tough cause everything is so different. That’s why initially it took me a couple of weeks to mess around with it before I could even start filming the first video.
hes getting ready to promote another brand. thats all this video means. if you cant read youtubers by now, you shouldnt use youtube for recommendations.
I don’t recommend any products unless I truly love them or call anything “the best” like many RUclipsrs. I just show products off to help people find what’s best for them. The only way I can call something the best is if I have personally tried every product in that category, but yes a lot of people will put “the best….. on their thumbnails. That’s why I will never get millions of subscribers or views cause most people fall for the “best of the best” thumbnails many big RUclipsrs put out there.

If you have an iPhone use Shortcuts and set up an automation to turn on your personal hotspot when your phone connects to the GT6-BTD. Easy fix.

Good to know, I will give that a shot! Thanks
Where do you go to change the hotspot frequency??? @13Marino
If you turn on your hotspot before turning on the truck it will connect right away.

I need help with my unit.

@zachattackcustoms Yes hopefully they'll fix connectivity issues soon, I didn't mention the 10/mo is employee pricing. It was a no brainer for me.

@@cbreezy3947 Did you change the APN settings on the radio?
still dont understand why it needs a connection to satellite radio when it uses wifi for satellite radio. when am i missing?
28-3 never forget...
Hey now…that’s just not right!
@ I’m a pats fan. I was so drunk I passed out all mad then got woken up by everyone screaming the game was tied. Never sobered up so fast in my life.
That was the biggest high I have ever been on and then biggest low I have ever been on in such a short time. Just want one Super Bowl before I die!
I know there has been one firmware update. However, have you updated and if so where do you go to get that?
No lte providers support the gt6
Do you find carplay (via the tablet, not mychevorlet) smoother and quicker when wired compared to wireless? Or no difference?

Anybody lose connection to the stock usb ports both underneath the screen and the center console??
What about the sound does it lose quality?
I have not noticed any loss in sound quality.
Can you watch Netflix or videos while driving ?
Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
