Don, Thanks for the update on the two screens! I was leaning towards the zinnovation’s and the cold weather performance is very important to me here in Fairbanks Alaska. Your point about the location of the heating ducts being under the screen is important! I also like keeping the physical factory buttons! Thanks for the follow-up 👍
Awesome, I love my Aucar screen, but I'm super curious about the Linkswell screen coming next year. Can't wait to see what you have in store for your truck.
That's Linkswell is gonna be the deal. I like my Zinnovations screen, but a full OEM replacement is going to take all the quirkiness out of the system and make it a real upgraded factory experience.
If Z innovations can make the vents with vertical slots to match the factory vents and add a volume button I would be sold! I can’t be bothered with aucar as I live in northern Canada and having the factory buttons for the HVAC is the only way.
Volume nob add on control and module to our current design screens is in final testing 😉. AC vents in the vertical layout we would need to look into and test performance.
I bought my Aucar screen on amazon and it is 100% the same thing! Right down to the pin number to change things. I know they say it's not the same...But it is. Their just mad because I got it like $500 cheaper and had it in two days lol. They wouldn't let me join their facebook group just because I got it from amazon lol. I've only had the screen freeze up once since I got it. I just had to disconnect the battery and hook it back up. Everything is ok now.
Thanks Don! I hope you are able to work something out with Linkswell to test when their screen is ready. And I'm interested to see what Z comes up with on vent upgrades, because right now the vent look is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on it.
Thank you for putting up with the videos. It’s like reviewing computers with similar specs but very different form factors. Both are better than an abacus, but each have their own quirks too
@@Donslifegreat thanks for the info. Also the link for the sema video seems to be taking me to the mark in this current video and not the sema video you meant to link. Not sure if it’s an issue on my end but I’ve copied it and pasted it over on safari and I’m getting the same thing. Thanks!
I've watched your videos but I don't recall catching this, sorry if I missed it. You talk about AUX input and mention screen size for gaming. How would you connect an external video device? Like a portable Blue-ray player? I'm not interested in play'n call of duty, but am interested in a means to have Bugs Bunny, Jimmy Neutron, Gilligan's Island and other movies available for travel.
There is a video in my playlist that shows a game on the screen if you want to watch it. Essentially you install a game emulator like Lemuroid in this case and it allows you to play thousands of games from previous generation consoles
Hey @Donslife, i have the aucar screen but you bringing up how they now have an auxillary input as long as u basically have that module in your arm rest. To your knowledge, has anyone tried or is it possible to take that usb module thats in the dash and swap it with one that has the aux input?
We can help you with your question. This is not possible as we tried this in our development the IOR system will crash and the factory system will go black screen. The factory HMI module doesn't have the capability to add a AUX point. Hope this helps Z Innovations
Donnie, I recently installed this unit in my 2020 GMC Sierra. I can't figure out how to download the updates from their website to complete updates. Also, I can see my apps like RUclips, Netflix, etc..., but I don't have sound. Can you advise on any help? Can the updates be installed over the air?
Are you in the Facebook support group? There are Aucar support people in the group to help with these configuration hiccups. Also, for updates, support usually emails a link for you to download onto a usb stick. It is possible to download directly to the unit, but I’d recommend USB. Also, updates ams patches should be requested to help with specific things you need resolved. For example if your volume knob stopped working, they have a patch for that. You wouldn’t apply it if your volume knob worked fine. To hear sound from RUclips, make sure your truck is not set on FM, XM, AM, but instead on Bluetooth to your screen. This process is in the manual and in my first couple videos.
I paid about 30% of their value (income tax) plus customs/import fees for each of them. Otherwise they were sponsored for the reviews. I've also spent countless hours testing, filming and editing footage for people that want to see them in use long-term. RUclips reviews can certainly come with some benefits, but you also have to put the work in.
As usual, Don, great video; very informative. I am not yet sold on either of the upgrades, but I am leaning more toward the Z-Innovations 13.1 as I want to keep the factory controls. I see this video was shot after the new carbon fiber steering wheel install so have you swapped it out for the GMC version yet?
I don’t have the GMC wheel yet. We are just now getting our postal system back up and running after a month-long union strike. Parcels are backlogged for a long time. Countries are shipping to Canada in some cases until we get our ?$&! together

Cool. Unfortunately many people have had some pretty frustrating results. Merry Christmas 🎄

How do i got about getting this update? For the 15.6?
Email Aucar support with your order number and the update you are looking for.
Hey Don great update. Are they going to include the aux cable with new orders or is it separate?
Thanks! It will be included now

Thank you for handling the technical questions 😊
I wish the aucar didn’t have a sound delay when watching movies
Some report no delays with the aux adapter, but I didn’t experience perfect sync.
@ how do I do that? Is there any videos?
@@Donslife Nevermind. I already found it and ordered the cable

Solder that aux before the wires break being plugged in like that.. u will thank me.. its easy

Not for me - The screen upgrade option has never been something that I would value. To me it is just another security vulnerability to deal with.
No problem! Thanks for checking out the video
Aucar sucks…..I have had a million problems! Customer service is horrible. They will not honor warranty for returns either!
I am in one of their Facebook support groups, they reply fast and take care of each customer.
I agree that the support is great since my experience from July 2024 to present day.
