In this Painting Tutorial I share two ways to blend colors with Egg Tempera.
Tempera is a very powerful medium when it comes to painting but many people avoid it believing it is hard to blend with and dries quickly. Here I show that it is possible to blend colors with it very effectively, achieving an almost oil like effect.
Thank you so much for supporting this channel and for your amazing comments bellow! its really nice! I also want to thank my beautiful patrons for their help too.

I'm an oil painter, always been curious about egg tempera. But watching this makes me realize painting in egg tempera would DRIVE ME CRAZY, as the values change so much after you lay down the paint. You paint something pale, a few seconds later it's all dark. :o

I have looked at many different mediums (oil, gouache, casein, acrylic etc etc), and in many ways I think egg tempera has the most beautiful colors overall (something about the refractive index or something like that). But I always found it a difficult medium to use until I found this channel. Many thanks!

Hi Antonis, Hope you are well? I just made my first egg tempera and am painting some pumpkins while watching your tomato tutorial! What a wonderful medium this is. I absolutely love it. But I have to say my first attempt is also “horrible!” I put it on much too thick. Thank you for introducing me to this way of painting. I love your tutorials and have learned so much. I hope you are getting closer to your dream of being a full time painter. Kindest and best wishes. Ann

Excellent demonstration of two approaches. I have wondered how you might approach a still-life type subject, so i got a lot out of this video. Interesting how fresh and lively the more traditionally painted tomato looks. Thanks again, maestro!

Such an amazing tutorial, thank you!! I've only recently started using egg tempera for painting secular subjects, though I have done an Icon painting course (only a week!) at the The Prince's School of Traditional Arts in London, which taught me a lot.

What is really interesting for me is the consistency/thickness of your egg tempera - mine is usually much thinner, almost like watercolour. Thank you 🙏

Hi Antonis, can you please share the recipe for each color. I just need to get the idea of color mixing.

Hi Antonis, I see that when you spread the color the one below does not move. It happens to me that if I don't wait a bit, the next stroke takes away the color, creating a white "hole". Depends on what? Perhaps from the consistent? Is it too liquid? Thanks good job
