Great video. I'm an old guy who just started working out with a 5' bo staff inspired by videos like these. It's an awesome routine. Now I know what the Chinese mean by "the life force". I can't wait for the snow to melt and to get outside with this stuff. Thank you Matt.

Hi Matt. I have had a problem with "frozen shoulder" in both shoulders for ages now. I started training with a bo a week ago and have already noticed more flexibility in my joints. I am 70 years old and am enjoying your videos very much. Thank you.

A few months ago and without any instruction, I began trying to spin my walking stick while hiking...just for fun. I didn't get very far with it, but I ended up learning the "roll over the hand" part.
Now, I see there is so much more and I'm looking forward to staff spinning properly as you demonstrate in this great video. I will have to get a more balanced and proper staff now. Thanks for your expert instruction.

My hips and shoulders are shot from years bending rigid as a commercial electrician - I'm hoping this will help loosen all damaged tissue. Thank you for making it appear simple.

I hope it helps. It keeps me loose and I have also spent a long time abusing my joints with labor and training. I spend a lot more time stretching and warming up than I used to.

I would drive my shin up through that stick and stop your motion. Not my shin exactly. The fatty hard part of my leg underneath my shin as I slid in with a front snap kick. Blocking and attacking.Once your movement was interrupted you'd have to drop your stick or I'd kick with the other foot as I set forward under the raised rib. A stick is no substitute for bone.

Was it necessary for us to starch our uniforms or shall we beat each other with sticks naked?
I'm only teasing. I never starched my uniform.

    • @pasquinilli

I never cared for starch either. The dried salt from my sweat is the only starch I ever need.
