Why do yours insert so easily? Mine are so tight, I have to use a rag to protect my fingers from being cut on the flanges.

This is a good video, but I wonder why it seemed so much easier to do years ago. Maybe I was more patient when I was younger. I will say that next time I will buy genuine Ettore, instead of the generic hardware store replacement rubber blade. :o(

What the hell did this guy take before doing this video? His hands were moving so fast you'd swear he was a magician.

Yes, not good for demonstrating for others. Useless for me.

It's tacit knowledge - he's done this thousands of times, he probably can't do it wrong if he tried. It's a sort of general problem when training people actually.

I bought a NIB 12" Ettore squeegee but it doesn't come with any clips. Rubber slides out very easily.

When I followed the instructions, and after both clips were put in, the rubber blade was not straight, but wavy. What is the problem?

    • @EttoreProductsCompany

      Hello Dotti,
The rubber needs to be pulled so there is a 1/4" protrusion out on each end. This process makes the rubber tight in the channel, thus removing any "waves" in the rubber. Hope this helps!

You want to get some dawn dish soap or fairy soap and lubricate the channel so when you're pulling the blade the clip slides into place when you release the tension.

    • @Ginnetix
      @Ginnetix 3 года назад

Means you have slack inside the channel.

Why do you need to use TWO clips (that seems rather redundant)? Why do you have to replace the clips each time (that seems very wasteful)? Why do you have to only use one side of the rubber (it can be flipped over to have a brand new edge)? I get the feeling that your video is very much about convincing people to buy more stuff and more frequently than they really need...

Thank you for watching. We use two clips (one on each end to keep the edge of the rubber completely straight for the perfect edge). One clip would not provide the tension on the rubber blade and you don’t have to replace them each time if they are still in workable shape. (We do recommend you replace them each time because they can get gooey and sticky and hard to work with, but if you want to reuse them that is completely up to you.)
We don’t recommend only using one side of the rubber. In fact most professional window cleaners go through 2 blades a day (start at 8 am, flip the rubber at 10 am. Change the rubber at 12 pm, flip the rubber at 2 pm and end at 4). Not sure where the idea that you can only use one side comes from, but that is inaccurate. We encourage you to flip the rubber to double the life.
Again, thanks for watching. The video is for information purposes as we get a lot of questions on how to replace the clips and how to change the rubber. The video tries to answer those questions.
If you have any further questions contact us at 800-438-8673. We are happy to address any and all questions you may have.

@@EttoreProductsCompany I think the idea that you only use one side came from the gentleman in the video that said put the rubber in logo side facing out because of the angle which may have led some to believe that only this side was useable ,I've cleaned windows for 15years and know you always flip the rubber not as frequently as you have mentioned but In practice we tend not to use the manufacturer recommended ways of use to save money and time (I would only flip the rubber if it was unusable probably once a week and it's the same for other cleaners in my area ) other than that love your tools they make my money so I'm not complaining

Not really, the clips are the cheapest possible product window cleaners buy - they're just pointing out what is optimal that's all.

The two clips keep the rubber in place. I haven't ever replaced the clips, I just use the ones that came with the genuine Ettore squeegee. The reason you use a certain side of the rubber is that it is angled to properly meet the glass surface. Ettore is the best. Sorry this is four years after your post! I'm just replacing a rubber blade on one of my collection of squeegees and had to remember how to do it.

First, that clip will slice your finger off. I've not handled something that sharp since I told my wife to ease off on the cupcakes. So do yourself a favor and wear gloves
Second, ditch that second clip. The rubber isn't going anywhere and if you're really concerned about it, take the smallest wire nail you can find and shove it in the gap that the clip would occupy to make the rubber snug. It can't fall out but will slide out when you pull it during a changeover to new rubber.
    Simple.
