    I think the last few seconds were the most important for me to know. I didn't know that they should always have a burr in place even when not in use. I would not have guessed that. Good to know! Thank you! 👍

      Thanks for watching! We put it in the owners manuals, but people very often don't read it. So we keep putting the word out!

      @@ForedomElectricCo I think you're right. I read reviews before I buy big items and often see people mention things that would be easy to fix or avoid if they read the manual. I usually do read them. (I'll read this one when I get it.) But I agree that most people don't. And I prefer to learn through good videos like this, too. 👍

    This video didn't really help me in my plight but did spur me on to figuring out my problem which I sorted out eventually.
    Some of my shafts are 2.3 mm (bought from reputable suppliers) not 2.35. It makes a lot of difference.

    Hello, somehow my no20 hand piece has over tightened while I have a burr inside. Since the burr is stuck inside, how can I losen the collet to remove the burr? The lever is not loosening it.
    Thank you, I really hope I can fix it

    I am very disappointed, why aren't there any collet adjusters for the H 20 hand peice? I need to swap out or adjust the collet so I can use smaller diameter shank bits. You would think in this day and age that Foredom would address this problem.

    Is there anything I can do to to get a 1/8" collet? I have hundreds of pieces I cant use. I bought this and found out they were 3/32 not 1/8 So I have to keep using the old handpiece with the mini jacobs chuck and key

    • @ForedomElectricCo

      The H.20 handpiece - in the video above is only available with a 3/32" or 2.35 mm collet. This Handpiece is very popular in the jewelry making industry and that is the size that they use. What are you using the handpiece for? H.44T and H.43T, come with 3/32", 1/8" and 1/4" collets. H.28 and H.8 come with 3/32" and 1/8" collets. They are easy to change on these handpieces and the handpieces I just listed are also less expensive than H.20. Many Foredom dealers sell these - you can find out more on our website www.foredom.net/handpiecesforkeytipshafting.aspx. Good luck to you!

      I'm coming from Dremel (that's why I have so many 1/8" bits. I bought a foredom and I've been using that lately. But I use it to make jewelry too but I also use it for wood carving and small metal grinding for metal art. I use it all the time!!! Seems like the uses are endless. In the dremel I had a tool less hand chuck which made changing tool bits over pretty quick. But this foredom is drving me crazy having to keep up with the small chuck key. I actually lost the chuck key for a couple days and I was not able to use the tool at all. (this is another reason I want a quick change or tool-less) Seems to me that Foredom is missing out on a big chunk of the market on this quick change hand piece.

    • @ForedomElectricCo

      I will pass that on to the engineering department.

    • @2LateIWon
      @2LateIWon 6 лет назад

      Thanks I appreciate that.
      I understand if you are making the 3/32" tool bits that will only work with the quick attachment that keeps people coming back to your tool bits. But That also keeps potential customers from stepping up their game and get a Foredom with quick attachments because I have all these tool bits I can not use.
      Kind of like if you had Dewalt cordless drill with 20volts and now you have that platform you've bought more batteries and a few more tools for the 20volt line. Then there is another line that opens up that has a super cool feature but you don't want to switch over because you have already invested a bunch of money in the 20-volt line. Where if you could adapt that 20-volt battery system into this new line. I could expand my tool sets. (obviously, there's more that goes into it for a battery platform but its the best analogy I could come up with at the time LOL) And going from a 3/32" collet to a 1/8" collet is well within the realm of doing this. or Even make it to where your quick attachments come with a 3/32" collet but you can switch it out with a 1/8" collet that would be perfect. Then as a consumer, I can buy both 3/32" and 1/8" tooling and buy whichever fits my needs the best for that particular project I'm on. Now maybe the easiest thing (which was mentioned in the chat) is to put a tool-less attachment. You chuck this into the keyed Jacobs chuck and then just have to use your hand to tighten and loosen the chuck. No need for a key.
      I know I can't be the only person that has ever wanted to do this. It just boggles my mind why it hasn't been done yet. But if not and you'd like to bring me in on your R&R (Research and Development ) team. I have a few other ideas for you as well.
      Thanks
      Thanks!!!!

    The shaf on one of my burs broke off in the collet (H.20), can't get it out?

    • @ForedomElectricCo
      @ForedomElectricCo  3 года назад

      You can remove the nose cone to get to the collet. The collet has slots in it that you could possibly remove the bur with pliers or an exact knife. Here is the instruction manual www.foredom.net/wp-content/uploads/handpc_instructions/20_20D_20SJ.pdf If none of this helps, you can send it to us. The address is in the instructions or on our website www.foredom.net

    The H.20 is well built but the limited shank-size limits the value of this handpiece. As to why different size collets aren't offered escapes me.
    After 34-years with another brand I was excited to move over to the Foredom platform. As far as I can tell, they're American so it seemed like a win-win. My H.20 was a gift, so I was unaware of the limitation until I tried to use it. Sadly all the bits and burs in my collection don't work with it (too big). I figured a new collet would remedy the issue but haven't been able to find one. Reaching out to Foredom I've discovered the reps almost seem proud (actually, snarky) about this only accepting the 3/32 shank (exclaiming something about jewelers yada-yada-yada... as if it rationalizes ignoring other possible markets..???).
    Anyway, if you own the H.20, hopefully you've had better success with it. And if you happen to know of anyone that offers different sized collets for the H.20, please post.

      If you have many 1/8" shank burs that would be a disappointment! Those burs are very popular for handheld grinder type tools used in hobbies, DIY and woodcarving and we love it when those folks finds out about Foredom tools. Foredom handpieces: H.30®, H.44T, H.43T, H.28, H.8 and H.25 all can use 1/8" shank burs and other sizes, too. Some of them come with extra collets and H.30® is a #0 chuck style handpiece that holds a range of burs up to 5/32". We do have collet adapters, but they only make it possible to use a smaller shank size bur - so that wouldn't help your situation. We apologize for ANY unintentional snarkiness. Jewelry making, dental labs and other technical fields have been supplied by Foredom with reliable long lasting tools for almost 100 years.

      @@ForedomElectricCo Thanks for the recommendation and the apology. It's both appreciated and reassuring.
      The H.30 is a reasonable alt, but it's step down from the quick change feature of the H.20 and a regression to my former workflow (which is far less expensive btw). Being a sculptor, the ability to quickly swap between tools -of any sort- is an important part of my creative process. Coming to Foredom should've been an improvement in this respect, not just an increase in expense.
      I have no doubt the industries your company has served has been a positive relationship, but I hope you consider that creating an H.20x of sorts would be greatly appreciated.

      @@ForedomElectricCo I think your demonstrating the snarkiness he was explaining. Today this handpicked is for jewelers only is a poor customer service answer. What you should say is we failed the market and need to go make one. I bet most people buying your products today are not jewelers.

    Is there a hammer action hand piece for the SR pendant motor

    • @ForedomElectricCo
      @ForedomElectricCo  6 лет назад

      Yes H.25 and H.15. www.foredom.net/h15.aspx you can find out more on our website www.foredom.net/handpiecesforkeytipshafting.aspx. Good luck to you!

    • @wonbadood8243
      @wonbadood8243 5 лет назад

      The hammer handpiece will work in an SR motor but it's a bit too fast for good control. I think the LX motor runs at around half the speed and twice the torque and is much more suitable for hammering.
      The SR motor will destroy the hammer handpiece if you run it too fast.
