Problem is...EVERYONE steals from Jimmy Smith. He more-or-less invented much of what we play on the organ. Where Joey is different is he takes the precision about ten levels up. You can hear every note he plays, no matter how fast. And I think where Joey, Tony Monaco and others really shine is how they brought the organ out of the back room and once again put it on the front stage. All bow to Jimmy, believe me.
dangerous guitar solo. slick. nice. don't need to bother mentioning DeFrancesco. he was a deity with talent above & beyond. God bless'm may he rest in a nicer place.
@jurgiejj I'd just like to second that. I've only seen Joey twice, both in the past year or so, and he sounds better and better, in comparison to his earlier work, and to the first gig I saw of him. So much originality. I personally prefer De Francesco over Smith, but I must thank Smith for getting me into Hammond. Long listener of The Sermon and J.O.S., still some of the best hammond playing I've ever heard. May they both be listened to for many, many years to come. Cheers Hammond B3
this is the way the ride cymbal is supposed to be played, look at the position of the right hand, look how much he turns it just to get the right feel and sound and bounce and oaaaahhh.....
I hoped that my comment is so positive and enthusiastic that you can figure out I'm not a racist... I didn't mean to offend anybody. AfroAmerican fits you???!
Joey D riffing like a hurricane!
Bireli riffing like a tsunami!
Elvin pulverizing the Drums like a jackhammer!
these three musicians are beautifully attuned to each other and each has the capability and desire to swing and respond inventively. Outtasight!

Bireli is "the" man anyone who says otherwise has no clue about the guitar!
You know the n-word is inappropriate. Your comment did make sense, but it feels like you only commented to drop the n-word.
