      @@a.nobodys.nobody No. It is NOT “smooth Jazz”! I cannot believe we are having this conversation!! Benson is a million miles away from “smooth jazz”, the very fact that you think this, that illustrates that you know absolutely nothing about the genre. Benson is straight ahead Jazz which borders on fusion, you are confusing his music that was created for the commercial market which is more down to “production values” than his actual playing.

      @Rational_Mind 3 года назад +1

      @Nada Nada If after what we’ve lived through the last 4 years under the trump presidency, culminating in the contemptible insurrection we witnessed on the 6th, isn’t enough to open your eyes to the fact that the Republican Party of today is nothing but a sycophantic, morally bankrupt, unscrupulous band of authoritarian, scoundrels who care absolutely about nothing other than power and control, nothing I can say will ever change your mind.
      The average citizen who supports trump has become a brainwashed cultist.
      The progressive democrats want nothing more than to create a more egalitarian society with more fairness and equity for all. Contrary to the BS the right spouts, this is not a “handout”, it’s not “free stuff”. It’s about leveling the playing field so everyone gets a fair shot at the “American dream”.
      Of course this type of society is anathema to the super-rich ultra-conservative power brokers because the common people would gain power. They wouldn’t be so worried about quitting a job with oppressive working conditions for fear of loosing their Heath insurance or their home. The rich can’t have that of course because then they’d lose power over the commoner. So they buy Republican politicians, finance rightwing think-tanks and sponsor propaganda news media to figure out ways to manipulate and fire up the conservative base to make them hate the very people who want to help them. It’s a massive mind fuck, and it’s sad and pathetic that the very people who are being used (useful idiots) are so blinded by hate and/or supremacy and/or conspiratorial thinking they can’t see what the SOB super rich are doing to them.

      He was first known for his great jazz guitar playing. All of his early albums featured him on guitar. It wasn't until the mid 1970s that he became known for his pop songs.

      You can hear his influence and some his style in many of today's guitarists such as Norman Brown and Chuck Loeb. GB is legend in my books. Fortunate to have seen him in concert at the Hollywood Bowl before this whole shut crap. I miss live music. Thank God for these videos. Something to look forward to I guess. Best solo for me is Prince at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Orgasmic level!

    First time I got hip to George Benson was right when the Breezin' album came out....... I worked for a chair/tent rental company....... we were setting up Howard University's graduation venue in Washington, D.C. There were vendors on the sidewalks selling incense, paraphernalia, African art, and LP's. I bought "Breezin', surely putting wear on my phonograph needle I loved it so much...... evidently so did my girlfriend; she bought the Ibanez George Benson signature guitar, which is what he's playing here :)
    It's not so widely known that George Benson was a prolific jazz guitarist in the 60's....... in 1964 he collaborated with organ master Jack McDuff for the LP "The New Boss Guitar of George Benson"...... very different to this era's material.

    You know, there are guitar players whose guitar is part of their arms. George's guitar is way more than this, is a natural extension of his soul. That's why he can express himself this way. Love you GB!

    Le Maître !
    La version album est sympa.
    Celle-ci, en live....depasse l’entendement.
    Un des seuls artistes sur cette planète qui explose sa version studio par 10 en concert.
    Personne n’a ce mélange de technique, de connaissance, de la mélodie.
    Georges. NR 1
    Le plus rigolo c’est qu’il est plus connu pour : nothing s gonna change my love for you; give me the night, etc, que pour sa virtuosité à la guitare.
    Et contrairement à un Pat Metheny, qui lui a beaucoup pris, il grimace pas comme si il récupèrait d’une cuite sur le trône. ;)
    Il finit avec le sourire:)
