I tried to make green smoothies from your free recipes - they taste great, even my husband likes them. I was feeling bloated and extremely hungry and got pains in my joints and back first 3-4 days, but after 2 weeks started feeling great - more energy, eating much less, pains reducing.

Thank you Dr Goldner for clarifying what protein powders/meals do as so many people are obsessed with protein. I think excessive body-building is unhealthy and unnatural and imo doesn't look good, I like the lean toned look but not the Michelin Man look that even prevents men from walking properly, I think that's another example of insecure men who want to look manly but to me they don't just look muscly, they look fat.

My daughter was diagnosed with Lupus 7 months ago ( 12 yrs. ) she was seen by a Functional doctor and went through a lot of tests that are typically given for Autoimmune disease's as well as taking specific supplements to repair her gut since she was determined to have disbiosis, she started the GLP smoothie since March as well as staying on her medications for Lupus SLE.
She has no inflammation or other symptoms, her urine protein is negative and her labs are stable, however her C3 and C4 compliments are low but climbing slowly.
How can the compliments be improved?
Also Iron levels are low despite having the GLP smoothie's daily, could it be a matter of absorbtion?
    Thanks for your reply!

Hello Dr Brooke! I'm doing the smoothies, but I can't seem to eat the salads for some reason, I just can't get them down. I FINISH A WHOLE VITAMIX BLEND OF SMOOTHIES A DAY. I drink lots of water, yet I feel dehydrated. The dehydration goes away when I eat melons. I went to the doctor but they said nothing is wrong.

      @Goodbyeeveryonehere Год назад +3

Hi Dawn, I watched one of Dr goldner's other q and a sessions recently and she answered a question on this and yes, her regime has improved vitiligo. I can't remember by how much but it definitely worked.
I'm afraid I can't point you to the video about it because I've been watching a lot of them recently, but I suggest working backwards from this one, work out the dates for each Wednesday and count back. It wasn't last weeks episode, I'm pretty sure of that.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific

Hi Dr Goldner, please could you talk about lack of energy in one of your Q&As? I have been WFPB for over 3 years now, I have achieved and maintained my slim weight which I love. I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, mushrooms, potatoes, some legumes, I am not afraid of grains but I don't fancy them at the moment. I don't use any oil or sugar, I don't eat cakes or other junk. I have recently introduced some nuts into my diet, about a walnut a day, and I eat some avocado from time to time if the food bank gives it to me. My energy levels are low, I suffer from ME as well and I'm 58, I just get very tired and sometimes very suddenly too. I exercise (stretch, weight-bearing, etc.) twice a week. I don't want to put on weight but I am worried about lack of energy, for example if I go out and walk for a mile and then carry the shopping home, or if I exercise, the next day I'm exhausted. Blood tests are always perfect. I'm also more constipated than I used to be at the start of my WFPB journey. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

I had this issue and it turned out I was B12 deficient here's the program that gave me my life back:
I Used the oral 5000 mcg's . Since B12 is water soluble , and since my condition of chronic exhaustion with paranoia ,swollen tingly feet, and moon craters on my tongue was untenable to me, I began taking daily oral 5000 mcg B12. Then I started taking 2 a day with vitamin D3 and DHA/EPA. I Boosted this to 3 of these 5000 mcg's of B12 a day with good results; my life began to turn around over the course of months.
With this I added a daily green smoothy made with 1lb. of greens and frozen fruit especially pinapple for flavor. Now I can work and my mental state is calm and I'm still taking 3 big B12's a day; not sure when I'll back down to a lesser amount. Here is the one I take:
      www.amazon.com/Natrol-Vitamin-Dissolve-Tablets-Strawberry/dp/B00C43H9KU/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=B12&link_code=qs&qid=1690784256&rdc=1&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-8&tag=amzfinder-20
      Here's my green smoothy recipe:

      Here's a helpful B12 play list from Nutritionfacts.org :
      ruclips.net/video/KjDYAyr8K6w/видео.html
      I'm taking this vitamin D:

      and this DHA/EPA also:

I love you Dr. Brooke but medicine DO make you fatter even if you don't change anything about the diet. Especially antidepressants, antipsychotics and steroids. You can balloon 50 - 60 lbs in a month and no diet can make you gain that much weight in a month. Yes, a lot of it is water weight but even going off medication sometimes the weight doesn't come off automatically. For example, when I was on an antidepressant years ago I ballooned like that and my period stopped. It turned out the med was making me produce too much prolactin and I was turning into a whale. These type of meds affect your glands and liver and cause wight gain despite the diet that you eat. Of course, it doesn't happen to every person but it does to a lot.

whether protein puts on muscle and whether it helps heal disease are two very different questions. Eating extra protein def helps some put on some muscle working out or not, doesn't seem to support healing from severe disease though. This is from Experience and I was NOT force feeding myself and was not working out, just eating some extra protein
