- King Aegon iv Targaryen is known as Aegon The Unworthy for many reasons, but one that sicks oit the most is The Great Bastards, a group of his illegitimate children born to highborn women. Despite being born out of wedlock, Daemon, Aegor, Bloodraven and the other would play huge roles in the fate of westeros during the Blackfyre Rebellions.
The Great Bastards Of Aegon | House Of The Dragon History & Lore (Reign Of King Aegon IV Targaryen)
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

Hows it going BitterSteel??
@Lord_Taron_of_ice_N_Fire Alright, a little bitter tripped and hit my head right before a new video about all of the Blackfyre Rebellions, so I wasn't 1st comment 😅 life am I right?
@@aegorbittersteel2154 damn bro....yeah life is like prophecy lol
Glad your ok
@Lord_Taron_of_ice_N_Fire Thanks can't let a minor injury stop the Blackfyre support🗡

THE BITTER STEEEEEEEEL ⚔️⚔️⚔️
The greatest achievement of Aegon was his sons and daughter. They changed the history of Westeros.
I'd say that setting the realm into a raging war that lasted for years and that eventually helped kill his House and end his dynasty isn't exactly an achievement. The Great Bastards are indeed pretty cool characters, though.
@@TheGrimHHH the end of dynasty marked the rebirth of dragons, foundation of golden company, three eyed raven who saved the kingdom from others. All are great achievements than a dynasty.
Because of Aegon IV the blood of Valyria will never really disappear…people just may not know they have it.
Not really if most of the sons ended up dying in rebellions and/or sent to the wall. For there to be generations of progeny, there has to be stability.
@@m.williams4971 There are only a handful of Great Bastards that the histories followed but probably many more regular old bastards. Not all of them were off dying in rebellions and such.
Bobby B’s bloodline would have spread far and wide if Cersei hadn’t worked to track most of them down (but I can’t remember if that both show and books or just show).
I firmly believe there are plenty “drsgonseeds” all about the seven kingdoms now (maybe not in the north) due to the Unworthy’s many affairs. But again, those folks probably don’t know it esp. no visible Valyrian traits show up.
If we ever get F&Bv2…this is what I'm gonna be most excited for!
Beneath the gold... the BITTER STEEL
@WorldofWesteros Great Video! Thank you for Slaying that old beast Known as Boredom on a Rainy day!!!
First to take the Black.
Thanks for posting this. Has anyone heard any rumours about the next Fire and Blood book, and what it will cover. I suspect it might include the Lives of the Four Kings by Grand Maester Kaeth. Personally, I'd like it to go all the way to Robert's Rebellion, but something tells me Martin doesn't want to give too much away.
I think I'd cover 7 kings just like before starting with the proper reign of aegons 3 and ending with the beginning of daeron 2s .
Could any other lady with 2 different color eyes be any hotter damnnnnn and Hail Daemon and Bittersteel!!!!!
Loving the Blackfyre support as always.🗡
I still dont get why Aegon IV perfered Daemon over his true born son. Especially since he seem to dislike Daemons mother so much.
well aegon iv hated his wife/daeron's mother (naerys) especially with her being so close to their brother aemon the dragon knight (whom aegon probably hated most). Not to mention daeron probably politically opposed aegon at every turn. Also, I don't recall aegon disliking daena the defiant so much like you said, she wasn't one of his loves, but does that necessarily mean he really didn't like her?
@@harrisfu6296 i thought he find it annoying that he could not dismiss her. But i guess he hated his wife more i guess.
@@lasloapollo4312 "dismiss her"? Didn't he purposely not dismiss her to keep her miserable. She offered a divorce him, but he refused, forcing her to stay in a unbearable marriage and still having to perform her "duties"
@@harrisfu6296 i meant Daena. Because she was a princess he could not just ignore her. You are right Aegon was awful with his wife.
Daemon was an extremely skilled Knight, he was popular amongst the common folk and nobles at court, and he was a full blooded Targaryen on both sides. I think when Aegon looked at Daeron, he just saw weak bookworm. Daemon was more Targaryen in terms of looks, personality, and temperament.
🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can someone list each son’s births in order please. What’s the full list?
Upon being legitimized, did they use the Targaryen name?
i don't believe they did. Daemon formed House Blackfyre, Aegor and Brynden both kept Rivers. Shiera is interesting as she is only ever known as Shiera Seastar as far as we can tell, but technically her name would have been Shiera Waters, but her mother coming from Lys maybe is a factor here.
Even if they were legitimized, I think they could only take the Targaryen name if Aegon had decreed it.
So many lives, so many human beings, being disregarded and thrown to the wayside then legitimized….
aegon really didn’t Care and it showed in his spawn how he didn’t care
Thank you for the wonderful w of my lord
Lusty fellow, indeed.
I still dont get why Aegon IV perfered Daemon over his true born son. Especially since he seem to dislike Daemons mother so much.
Daemon represented the ideal son he always wanted , he was a great warrior and never talked back to him unlike daeron, he didn't hate Dena
He thought his “true born” son was actually fathered by his brother, Aemon, the dragon knight .
@@Kat-pd9eh no he didn't that was just a lie he created to get daeron off his back about him attempting to attack dorne for no reason.
@@thatoneblackdude3333 eagerly anticipating F&B 2 in hopes of having some light shed on the entire bastard branch of the Targaryen family tree. I know the wiki’s all state rumored. Definitely an interesting span of Westerosi history. I didn’t realize he started the rumor.
