It's a shame this video isn't more popular. Taffington isn't a popular place to build, but it should be. Water, enough flat land, central location, cool structure. I found this video while searching for finishing inspiration for my build, which houses Mercer Safehouse. I've decided to leave the outside untouched and keep it very nondescript from the road, so I can't use all your cool ideas, but I really appreciate them. I will be stealing that weapons stall for certain. So many of your ideas are so natural and seamless, but so cool and unlike anything else I've seen in subtle ways. The display rack in the weapons stand is a perfect example. I can't wait to see more of your builds.
Thank you! Good to hear this'll be useful. Taffington is really fun when you're comfortable with the building tools and glitches, but before you've had some practice Taffington can be a nightmare--it's really difficult for beginning builders to work with. I didn't/couldn't build here for the longest time but once I figured things out it became much more attractive. ;)
Sar, this place is adorable! I love this settlement too, it's one of my favs! So many things I want to mention and comment upon! I love the little razorgrain in the water, very creative! It's a great and different spin off from Staci's original idea, and I just love that. I like those little lanterns on top of the piping too, might have to try that, it works well and looks natural. I love how you use the mods, cause it so natural it doesn't even look like you are using any at all. I love using the bookshelves as headboards too, they sure are handy and plus they just look good. They look nice for bunk beds too. The little workshop building, the door on there always annoying me cause it was like ya never had room to get in and out of there without falling into the water. I wasn't ever able to fit a floor in there, so this is helpful for when I start rebuilding this settlement. I can certainly appreciate everything you dragged over to the settlement, I know how much time that takes. But you are right, it's fun, not hard, just time consuming, lol. I like the big garage doors but I can never figure out the right combo to make a switch both on the outside and inside that can open and close it from both sides. Don't know if it's glitched or not, or if I'm just doing it wrong, so I usually just put one switch and leave the dang thing open or leave it closed. Love what you did on the inside of the house, a great use of space, love the stacked cabinets! :) And that dead body, lol I finally was able to get her to quite respawning after a time. Lovely work, as always! Happy Holidays, hope you are having a great time :)
Thanks! The flooring in the boathouse is _tricky as hell_ and the sweet spot is very small, so keep that in mind. I know you've got plenty of patience but you're gonna need it for that part haha :) And there's a way to do switches on both sides--someone posted a wiring diagram on reddit on how to do it--but I figure my doors are security-style so I only need a switch on the inside.
Ha, ha -- not at all, Phoenix! It's all part of why I love YOUR vid's, so much. (If I'm gonna sit through 20-30 minutes or more of watching someone build and decorate, there had BETTER be an interesting person(ality) behind it.)
I love your videos! I'm super lazy when it comes to building...I do the bare minimum and that's it! 🤣🤣 The only place I really build out is Nordhagen, I always see it as a resort with shops, boardwalk, arcade, etc.
Your builds are Amazing ! I like how you get in so much details. I mean if it wasn't for you , Phoenix Embrace & Norespond I would be going crazy for ideas for my own builds. The rug glitches I would haved figure out on my own.So, again thank you vary much for all your amazing video's . They are helping me out a ton.
Thank you Kjell! I agree, Sar is a great inspiration to me too. I like to think I had a hand in "affectionately" (lol) pressuring Sar to get his videos going. He was so helpful to me with telling me which ways furnishings should face for the settlers to use them properly. I remember practically begging him to make a video about it, and I think that was his first, or one of his first videos on his channel. If you haven't seen that video you should because it is VERY helpful :) I'm so glad he shares his wonderful builds and tips and tricks, he has been such a great asset to the Fallout 4 community!
The razorgrain reminds me of rice paddys, and I like the top of the house. I always get those floor/walkways up there and then never knew what to do with them. I have just started making comms centers so now I have a use for them 😀
Happy Holidays Sar! Loads of cool little touches. Could really hear how fond you are of this one too. :) I've never been able to decide what to do with Taffington before. This has definitely got me thinking!
Thanks! Yeah, I love Taffington a lot... used to hate the hell out of it, but then one day something just clicked and I saw it in a whole new way, and that made all the difference.
Yeah, I used to hate this spot, too ... right up until seeing THIS build. Now ... well, I definitely want to tear down and rebuild. (Mine is crap 'cause I just never wanted to spend any time here. That is no longer the case.)
wow, this is my favorite of your builds so far. This one is sooo good, such a great build, good job man! My favorite part is the boat shed you just put a floor right over the whole thing and then halved the room. Dude that was awesome.
I just started playing like month ago and your settlements looks so chill and easy to live in. Mine looks like fortress from hell, 2-3 stacks of concrete walls, kill zones, traps, dozens of turrets.. it´s not pretty, but at least it´s safe I guess haha.
Really like the Taffington build brother. You did a good job on this one. Going to put those lanterns on conduit to use. Maybe the bed sunk into the bookcase too.
haha it'll be fine. If it leaks, it'll be long since empty since it's been 200 years, and if it doesn't leak, that tiny bit of heat won't make any difference. ;)
Great build, I'm totally stealing the upper-floor communications center. Strange that you're having so much trouble with OCDecorator, there must be some real problems with translating it to console. For me it's one of the handiest building mods around. Season's greetings and thanks (yet again) for the inspiration.
Thanks! And the trouble I'm having with it ain't an OCD issue, it's a me issue, for sure. It's a solid and extremely useful and functional mod, without question, but its cons far outweigh its pros for me.
I was waiting for this. That's pretty damn cool man with your structures especially where the razorgrain was. How did you deal with the bodies that were originally in Taffington? Now that finals are over, I can build again; so I can't wait to try out what you did!
What a fun build. I also love building at Taffington. I don't know what it is about that place. Maybe it is just the location that is so great. Hangman's should be quite interesting for sure. Will we be able to see the new alternate beginning builds as well?
Thanks! Yeah, Hangman's will be interesting. I'm procrastinating really hard on that one... so much so that I got a feeling it's gonna be a really long build process. I might do a tour or two of the other builds. The main mod I'm using in that playthrough (Moribund World) makes a huge difference in how the game _feels_, and it's affecting how I build way more than I would have thought. It isn't available on PS4, though, and I'm not sure I wanna post stuff that not everyone can do, y'know? Gonna have to think about that one.
As always, Sar ... I LOVE it. A couple questions, though: On the shelf above his desk, there's a little model of a soldier in green (as far as I can tell). Where is that from? And on the same shelf, the Giddyup Buttercup seems much smaller than the ones I have. How come?
Hi Al! The green soldier is a gift from MacCready when you complete his affinity quest at Med Tek. The small Giddyup is the one Arlen Glass (at The Slog) gives you when you give him the holotape with his daughter's voice on it.
Oh, fer -- YES, of course (on both counts). Pretty sure I've got those buried in a crate SOMEWHERE. (Oh, good lord -- gaming imitates Life. This sounds like my office. lol) I've just started a Survival character (oooh, how I HATED it for the first several levels) ... so I will have to keep a close watch for them, this time. Thank you, Sir Sar! :-)
Sure, why not? It's 200+ years old. If it had a leak, it'd be long since empty. And if it doesn't have a leak, a candle's not going to generate enough heat to blow it up. ;)
@@SarDeliac oh dang thanks. Its just frustrating when you assign settlers to an area they just look at you like your crazy, I've even tried assigning settlers to stores or guead post and they just stand around...smh
It's been a while since I did it, so this may not be 100% accurate, but as I remember... I used warehouse floors, since the warehouse pieces in general clip more aggressively. The original floor is two large pieces and one quarter floor piece; nothing will clip where the stairway comes out of the water, so I used a rubber floor tile to cover that gap. Once I built it out on the street, I picked it all up using the wire fence post as the group-select anchor then adjusted it until it went green--and that took about fifteen minutes. It's a PITA, no lie, and it's fiddly as hell, and it might not be worth it. Hope that helps. :)
Ok thank you. That way sounds much more easier then what I was doing. I was trying to just build the flooring inside the boat house. Thank you again. Your idea will help me out a lot.
Are the transmission dishes part of a mod or are you able to craft them at some point? After finishing institutionalized I returned to my teleport system to find it destroyed with no option to repair or rebuild.
The dishes are part of that quest, yes. When you go into the Institute, the only dish that gets destroyed (and can't be repaired, only scrapped) is the one you actually use to get in--all the other equipment you build everywhere else will remain intact. This character hasn't gone into the Institute yet. :)
Remember your second visit to Virgil when he hands you the "schematics"? Once you give those to Sturges, Tom, or Ingram, and do a short fetch quest for them, all four pieces unlock.
Ah! I'll have to check whether I actually gave those to one of those guys ... or if they're "tucked away" in the drawer where I toss all my holotapes and notes and crap. (Or ... does that menu item disappear when you side with the "wrong" faction? 'Cause, um ... I blew up the Institute for the BOS.)
Virgil's schematics disappear when you give 'em to whoever (quest item), and the buildable menu items disappear when you enter the Institute. Once you hear Father's voice, they're gone for good.

Who knew that interior decorators is a needed profession in the post-apocalypse?

Thanks! :)
Dude. I don't know how I missed this video. super awesome build. I agree with the OCD. I've never built here. It looks beautiful. great job.
Thanks! I used to avoid Taffington myself, but now I like it best. Weird, right?

Im just getting into settlement building and you've got some cool builds! Looking forward seeing more of your videos!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoyin the show. :)
A really cool build sir. The build has a really nice balance - not too much of any one idea. I look forward to Hangman's alley. Merry Christmas
Thank you! :)
Very nice job ill have my taffington boathouse water purifying facility up next week
What the fuck this is amazing! You do really well at making your settlements look alive and lived in.

your welcome
Damn why have i only just found this channel?!
I don't know...? I don't do much self-promotion or advertising, so my channel tends to fly under the radar. :)
I really like your tour videos 💯

Just saw this video and you got a new subscriber

How do you assign settlers to set at tables or chairs? Like if I created a office how do you assign settlers to go sit at that chair or table?
You don't really have that ability in vanilla. Closest you can get is using the desk+chair guard station from the Vault 88 DLC.
