that’s a myth, trossard was brilliant with the same team. You can’t use this as an excuse just cause you like him. Martinelli needs to improve his game when given the chance, same goes for everyone in the team.
@@FalseGYM different profiles of trossard and martinelli. Martinelli has more pace to run in behind if balls are supplied to him like xhaka did. trossad is a creative outlet with dribbling skills so he can stay isolated
@@FalseGYMTrossard is really good but every top manager will go for Martinelli over him. With the right player behind him, he is potentially a world beater. We're lucky to have them both in the team.

He'd be perfect. A bit on the older side but he's experienced and can show the team a winning mentality. Great on and off the ball and would be a great addition to the starting Xl
He allows for the progression of an academy player, Nwaneri. This is something we know the club have in mind when they are planning, is also why I fully expect either no ST or an experienced one to ensure the pathway for Chido is clear. Merino/Trossard like signings give us a clue into positions we will see more youthful players having spaces for.

I think it will be an excellent signing. Left footed, low fee, ton of experience and just won a big tournament with goals mean he will come with full confidence. All the youngers will be able to learn from him
He could be a good fit especially if Partey gets injured again and Jorginho isn’t as quick or physical. I would like to see Arteta use Patino, Skelly and Henry Francis in the 1st team if this transfer happens.
However if De Jong becomes available and for a good price I would say go for that. We don’t have a profile like odegaard and not sure if Vieira can fill that void.
Not as silky as Partey but physically and defence awareness seem to be an improvement. Partey can be rather slow when trying to pick a pass and gets pushed off the ball rather easily. Merino seems far more solid and should allow Rice to play the 8 position as he has been. £30m isn’t that big a risk either.

Rice did a great job for us at 6 during the beginning of last season. At left no.8 there’s an imbalance and Martinelli gets isolated.
Merino looks like an affordable backup in the left 8 position. I’d love to see us sign Xavi Simons or Eze for a high energy dribbling half space marauder for a tactically different first team player.

I remember Arsenal fans complaining that the free flowing football was gone with Rice playing at 6. We started scoring uncontrollably when Rice was moved to the 8 position
@@ansakituart2321That’s right. Rice couldn’t progress the ball and find odegaard in the pockets, we weren’t playing through the middle as much and kept going wide to white and saka. When Jorginho/partey came in we started seeing the free flowing football of 22/23. I don’t get why fans overhype rice that much.
Don't be stupid....Rice clearly upgrades us. His ability to intercept and win back the ball is elite. Without that we don't get as far in the title race as we do. @@FalseGYM

I think Arteta is buying him because he can play 6 and 8. We lost the league last year due to partey injury and this goes is a monster at tackling. I feel positive with this signing as rice can be rested and jorginho not starting when partey is injured.
Good upgrade on Elneny. Calafiori would be a big upgrade on Soares. Both bring our squad up a level

I've been saying Merino would be a better option as a partey replacement all season, he has a good mentality when it cones to getting the ball back all over the pitch and is great under pressure to move the ball forward

From everything you said, he strikes me as a more mobile, stronger but less accomplished passer than Jorginho.
They are quite different merino is a duel winning moster and one of the best arial midfielders on the planet. He is not a regista though like jorginho. More of a xhaka type
If we can't get gumiraes, we just get Morino and eze combine for over 80m. Rice take the 6 role. We decide who should start between him and eze depending on the nature of the opponent

Merino can basically do both. He has the vision to make those line breaking passes and he'll adapt quickly to our current system. But with that being said, it will be cool to get a world class player into this team to elevate us.
