    Hi David.
The reason I subscribe to this channel for one reason.
One sentence you said in this episode.
And that is, "I don't make videos to get more followers".
A great statement that really appeals to me personally, friend.
    Greetings from the Netherlands,
    Antoine.

This is a good decision! I don‘t know how much money you loose, really, but for us viewers this is very nice. Got annoyed by ads lately, too. So, thank you!

    Hi David.
Selfishly speaking, my wife & I both loathe monotonous ads. But in solidarity with you, we both admire your ethics and wish that more channels would follow your suit. We entirely agree with your decision and wish you all the best. Otherwise, we enjoy your calm, thoughtful approach, with just the right blend of the technique-al and artistic, resulting in some admirable work. Your extensive past experience in photojournalism really shows, and your work from that period is likewise admirable. It can't always have been easy delivering such artistry from what might sometimes have been fairly run-of-the-mill subject matter, but you pulled those rabbits out of those hats!
BTW Norrie's a star too - so chilled out and well behaved (that we see) 😉
Keep up the good work - your channel is refreshingly different 👍

Thank you so much for the kind words, yes, my girl Nori is the star of the show, :) and she is the most chill, well behaved dog I've ever had in my family, she is a real joy to have with me in the woods.

Good decision David, and I hope when you sell some prints later this year it will be enough, along with Patreon, to support your "habit" for our enjoyment!

Good talk about photography and the walk in the woods with Nori. You got a really good photo of the ice on a plant, it is really good image. Great video.

It's nice to see you do it for the photograph not the add income, I've noticed a big increase in adds and it's turning me away from watching. It might just be me but I doubt I'm alone.
A good set of images and I like the "Eye" shot I keep trying to make something of it.
Interesting you mention the film like quality of that camera, I spent the day yesterday trying to get something similar using 6400 and underexposing so pushing the exposure I induced more grain/noise. Maybe I overdid it but I've a few results I like and as you say that's all we have to please.

Thanks Andrew, that abstract is a weird one, 😂 I find myself when lookin through photos and come to this one, I pause and stay for while, I guess this one takes me somewhere:) it’s great to here you are experimenting with your camera, I think that’s a great way to help us find our voice in photography, plus it’s just fun :) have a great weekend Andrew!

I do the same , not monetisation, and film or digital doent matter it's the end result that matters the art that matters :)

Been a bit since I watched your channel. Looks like you switched to digital. Another film channel bites the dust.

Sorry to disappoint, I’ve never been a film photographer, just a photographer who enjoys using film, I’ve gone over why I’m using less film in my videos in a recent video, it’s mostly finances and now I’m getting better at getting what I want out of my digital files. I still love using film and my film cameras but the amount of photography I’m doing, I just can’t afford to use film in every video. This channel has never been about film or digital, it’s alway been about sharing my photography journey, my images and how I make them, really nothing has changed, you just came back during a time I’m using less film.

Nice presentation. Discussion of last abstract image interesting. I prefer photo channels that place great emphasis on presenting and discussing creation and appreciation of images. Many channels have too many ads and too much background video

Excellent video David! Love your explanation of how you ‘see’ the ice crystals image. The image of ferns with small leaf is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

It was great to see one of your videos without the interruption of one single ad! I remember when there weren't any ads, then there were ads only at beginning or end. Now it's one or two at the beginning, one at the end, and several all the way through! I especially don't like it when they stick them in in the middle of a sentence- sometimes right in the middle of a word! - It really ruins the flow and mood of a video. If they're going to do them, I wish they would give us the choice of "going to a commercial" or "a word from our sponsor" so that we could build it into the flow of the production by making a placeholder- "place ad here" kind of thing. Great video though- with some great images! I really like the ferns in the vertical and the ivy crawling up the small tree trunk! For that kind of habitat, I really like the intimate scenics!

Lovely photography. I too share your thoughts. I don't have a channel as such myself. I think that photographs should be the purpose of the photography channels, and not sponsorships. At the end those sponsors are having free ride on the back of the talent of the photographer. Take care.

Always enjoy your videos David. Shots turned out great! What do you use to edit your digital B&W's?

    • @DavidPattonPhotography
      @DavidPattonPhotography  Год назад +1

Thanks Josh, I edit all my photography with Affinity Photo and have for about 4 or 5 years, for B&W I shoot in both JPEG and RAW, sometimes I end up using the JPEG if it’s close to what I want out of the image and then if I think I will need to do more than just a quick edit I will start with the RAW file. I also have a NIK plugin called Silver Efex that I may use in conjunction with Affinity Photo, not always but again when I think it will help get me to the result I’m looking for. Hopefully this answers your question have a great weekend Josh.

Thanks David. That’s the same combo I use. Affinity + Silver Efex. I recently picked up Silver Efex and find it takes the creative possibilities to another level with B&W
