Looking back, as a man in his 40s, it's hard to understand just what a massive part of my life these guys were back then. They influenced my clothes, my hairstyle; I wore eye liner and lipstick on a regular basis. My friends and I would talk about them all the time. I picked up a guitar because I wanted to be like Rob, and the first song I learnt was " A Forest". Do the kids these days have anything like this? Everything my daughter listens to seems to be towing the corporate line.

The Cure is my favorite band of the 80's, also was my best friend's favorite band. In 2019 The Cure came to Mexico and I invited my best friend to the concert, it was sublime for us to hear Robert Smith playing his greatest hits 2 hours (me and my friend always dreamed of seeing The Cure live).
A few months later he died in a motorcycle accident; I miss him so much, I feel alone without him. So, every time I want to be with my friend, I listen to The cure and remind all the great times we lived together talking, drinking and listening to this. R.I.P friend, someday we'll see us again.

I think this probably still has the record of the song i've played the most on bass in my life. I started playing bass listening to The cure about 13 years ago and i played this to death, like we're talking hundreds and hundreds of times. I still probably break into it like once a month. A good example of Simon's knack for standout yet simple and melodic bass lines.

    Lyrics:

Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as The Cure and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands?

I've been listening to this since 1986, and it's still EXCELLENT!
Age never mattered anymore, after I became a curehead............

It's not a case of doing
    What's right
It's just the way i feel that matters
    Tell me I'm wrong
    I don't really care
It's not a case of share and share alike
    I take what i require
    I don't understand ...
    You say it's not fair
    You expect me to act
    Like a lover
    Consider my moves
    And deserve the reward
To hold you in my arms
    And wait
    And wait
    And wait
    For something to happen
It's not a case of telling the truth
Some lines just fit the situation
    Call me a liar
    You would anyway
It's not a case of aiming to please
    You know you're always crying
    It's just your part
    In the play for today

This song and Boys Don't Cry got me into the band. I remember when I heard Play for Today on that compilation album Staring at the Sea. WOW, what a feeling it gave me! It's right on from the second it begins!
