It’s not about war, it’s about relationships. Mossy is great. Great singer not to shabby on the guitar 😊

Just home from an evening with Ian Moss. Guitar skills masterful and voice was awesome. Finished with Georgia. Made this old clunker very happy one row from the front in a small theatre

60 year old Aussie here. I’ve listened to this song tens of times in my life. This is not a war song. It’s a song about trying to reconcile after a fight in a long-term relationship

The Ian Moss discography is something that you definitely should check out…. Plenty to discover…. Tuckers Daughter, Telephone Booth, Out of the Fire, Nullarbor Plain, Rivers Run Dry, Slip Away, Broadway, If Another Day…… Steve Prestwich was a wonderful songwriter and drummer and brought a different dynamic to Cold Chisel once he started writing….. this song, Best Kept Lies, Forever Now, Water into Wine…. Sadly missed.

This is definitely about a big fight in a relationship not actual war.
Listen to it again with that in mind and every word makes sense.
Listen to it as a war song and it just doesn't fit.
Having said that, a good song is quite often a bit ambiguous so the listener can relate to it any way they want.
    I love it either way.
    Sunny day in Tasmania

To check out first world war / anti-war song (and one of the great songs written) look up
Eric Bogle - 'And the band played Waltzing Matilda'
in a league of it's own

Mossies best solo was in the middle of a Cold Chisel concert, when Jimmy had to rush off stage for a pitstop ( call of nature ).
Mossie did a brilliant impromptu Georgia ( on my mind ) to amuse the audience. lol

I love the long review of this.
Just nice watching a master class - even if it's on a phone.
And one of Chisel most underrated songs - just love it.

Mossy would have to be one of the best guitarists and singers in Australia, he just happened to play in a band with Jimmy Barnes and who can compare vocally with that but held his own and is amazing in his own right. I love his voice

I’d say he could be the best guitarist in Australia when Tommy Emmanuel is on a world tour!! ;)
It’s pretty hard to beat Tommy!!

Cold Chisel were such a talented band, each member was a great artist in their own right. I.m.o Mossy was the best! He also does a live version of Georgia that is a must.

How do you decide whether to bend or go straight to the note?

It’s just different….bending is more like singing lead vocals….there’s margin to be sharp or flat. It’s more exciting.
