The 1960's and early 70's were an extraordinary and turbulence times to be a live in there was a kind of a spiritual quest going on back then. the music and variety television shows reflected that. May a little flower power still exist today! 😊🧡✌ 🌸💮🏵🌺
If I were one of those audience people, I'd get up there and start dancing when him and Andy Williams start to sing! But even more so during Atlantis! That little girl must have had a ball, I'd be star struck for days! To have been there... Great shirt on Donovan too, I must add!!
Wowww. This is incredible! Ty so much for making this available. He was trying to wake up people decades ago even talking about the universe filled with life. What a great show with Andy, both gentle loving and wise spirits with great talent. He didnt fit with the corruption and violence on earth and was made invisible. Not anymore. 🍃
I love the entrance! Borrowed from India! What a wild time! Of course people don't get it at all now... Donovan spent time with the Beatles in India while George Harrison learned sitar from Ravi Schankar, and it changed the 60's. He also fell for Patty Boyd's sister Jenny Boyd there and wrote the song Jennifer Juniper.
I remember this particular show. Andy made everyone, including Donovan, sing " Day After Day (It's Slippin' Away)" by "Shango." At the time AM radio was going nuts playing that song. I was embarrassed seeing Donovan singing it with Andy. "C'mon Donovan what are you doing with that jerk?" I lightened up a little since then....but it's still embarrassing.
Not really, my favorite word is embarrassing. Donovan carries the show for being someone I barely heard of. Although I remember his name on compilation records sold on television ‘KTEL’? Archie’s, Rolling Stones, mellow yellow the absolute burnout.
This is hysterically funny. Andy Williams? A flower child? No more " buttoned-down", right of right man was ever born! I can picture that show meeting where this was thought to be a great idea by one of the gold chained Suits from Executive. There are many kinds of pandering.Shame on you, Donovan.
@@Dadelus AW was a lifelong Republican. He made an exception with RFK, which likely had to do with Kennedy celebrity worship because being around Bobby certainly didn't influence his political stance. In 2009, he was quoted by The Daily Telegraph as accusing President Barack Obama of "following Marxist theory" and "wanting the country to fail", he hated Obama. Republicans are not hip! Hip needs to be redefined if you're going to apply it to Andy Williams, in my book he was a straight, uncool, right wing, ideolog and his music was as far as you can get from anything that's cool!
So his name is donovan.. Well, his arrival was horrendous, like a king who accompanied by concubines, but when I heard his voice that was nothing special or maybe the song was too simple..
Donovan; the original flower child. A bright and beautiful, gentle spirit. So sweet. Massive catalog of songs I will never forget.

I saw this when it was first aired. I've never forgotten it and have been looking for it for years. Thank you!

@@DannyHood-j In other words, the pre-designated top 40 hits. Instead of his album cuts.
This is kinda corny, but anything with Donovan in it is worth watching. Still love him. 💕
Where did all the love disappear to? We sure could use it these days...
altho the sound quality was not great the pictures were so good I had never seen that version before- loved it
This looks like it was unwieldy to stage. They're lucky they pulled it off, with someone trippin' on a canopy or gauze dress! Just great to watch...

Andy's Love Concert! Andy Williams has to be the most unhip guy in the world; he didn't fit in with the people in this video.
People just having a good time at the end of a tumultuous decade,
But yeah, this wasn't exactly his comfort zone.
He was hipper than you thought. And he was still grieving the death of his friend RFK.
