Thank you for another lovely episode full of pretty knits, Genny. I so love how your sampler blanket turned out! And I am off to google Icelandic bind offs as I am intrigued by how stretchy it seems to be without looking stretchy.. Very nice! Wishing you happiness in your new home (and craft room!)
Thank you for your kind words, Susanna! I am definitely settling in and enjoying things being a bit quieter this season. I hope you are having a nice season too and enjoy the Icelandic bind off. I think you're absolutely right that it doesn't look stretchy, but it is. Magic!
I love the hat story! Maybe your wool wash will also be found in 4 months 😄 Now that you braved and conquered that difficult fibre, you can feel like you can try anything!
Hi Genny, count me in as another fan of the Icelandic bind-off (I even use it with ribbing sometimes!). I've always wondered why it isn't more popular. Lucky are the babies who receive your blankets; and also all the heads that will be warmed with handspun, handknit hats! Well done.
Thank you Constance ☺ And what a great idea! I will have to try the Icelandic bind-off on a rib finish sometime soon. I am right with you in wondering why it's not more popular (I admit that I hadn't even heard of it before googling around for that first blanket bind off). I'm so glad to hear you like it too!
Yes to the Icelandic BO. It's not used enough. Sometimes I even end up knitting a few garter rows and use that bind off instead of doing a I cord. Great knitting and spinning!
I am here from a share of your Virginia Woolf video. Very happy to be here, and although I would love more literary/knitting content, there is absolutely no rush. I also love general knitting content 😊
Aw thank you for the kind words. I have definitely been feeling a little bit rushed (even though the pressure is absolutely only coming from me!) so hearing this is really reassuring 🥰
Your stitchmarker placement makes perfectly sense. It is every other round that you make 2 decreases but indeed you have to look carefully if you are on such a round. You think that you can keep up in your head but you don't. I will cast on a pair on the first of Dec. using up bits of lefover sockyarn in all kinds of colors holding together with a solid color throughout, so a DK weight pair. I will use your method and will 'report back' 😃😃😃
Ooh those sound like they will be gorgeous! And what a good way to use up scraps! I have been wanting to make a pair of DK socks and have been keeping an eye out for appropriate DK yarn but I like this idea even better. I hope the stitch marker trick works for you too and definitely report back! I'd love to hear how your socks turn out ☺🧦
Genny, so wonderful to see you again.😊 how many yards did you get for your hat? I am still spinning for my shawl

Haha I hope so! No sign of the wool wash yet but the tricky fibre definitely boosted my confidence overall 😄

That's such a great idea! It even looks a bit like an I-cord bind off! Thanks for the great tip 😃
