You are close to correct in your take on the meaning of this song. The lyricist and original bassist, Roger Waters (who had left the band by the time the Pulse concert happened and who had written all of Pink Floyd's songs), wrote this song as a specific commentary on Britain's post-World War II education system, which was when he was a student. It's a protest song against corporal punishment and rigid and abusive schooling that was taking place in the 1950s/60s in England. This song was also a big chart hit in the U.S. in 1980.
Sadly corporal punishment wasn't phased out completely in the U.K until 1987. My PRIMARY school used a 12 inch ruler across the back of the hands. I started secondary school that year and it was obvious the disillusioned washed up teachers (at least at my school) missed being able to resort to it.
Back in 1994 it cost Pink Floyd $800,000 a day to put the show on! It cost producers 98 million dollars to put on the show and they still had a 260 million dollar profit!! I got these from some of the magazines I've read and Google! If they were to put a show on like that today it would probably cost 2 million a day and so on!
First time viewer. See a reaction to Pink Floyd, I am usually there. I scanned through your video list and noticed you reacted to every song on Pink Floyd's Animals album except for Dogs. You wanna check out Dogs. Best song on the album. Appreciate your love of music. New subscriber. Please consider watching more studio versions. There isn't much of a drop-off when PF plays live, but studio versions pack more oomph.
Seeing these videos of concerts from the 90s I'm always blown away from the lack of lights from cell phones (obviously). Only people enjoying a wonderful concert.
Nick and David sold their airplanes to fund this tour. So, somewhere around 90 stops world wide, with the final 15 all sold out in London. So, guess what how did they bounce around cities when it took over 3 days to set up that lighting arch? They had TWO of them and leap frogged to have them ready..thats how much money it took...and oh they got it back 4 fold.
@@risbydacreator haha, you should do outtakes 😄 well, with Led Zepp, like Queen, i’d go live. it’s going to be another ride for you as they also do so many different quality songs. i have my personal favourites, like Dazed and Confused, but the usual introduction to them tends to be stairway to heaven and there’s the live in Madison Square gardens version😁
You might want to consider doing the studio versions of some of these Floyd songs. The live stuff is great, but the studio versions hit different without all the bells and whistles. You get the original full production and Sonic experience. A bit more atmosphere. Check out "Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5" studio version.
Always a phenomenal band..🏆🏆♥️ I think it means that ideals are forced on kids to form cookie cutter people that are all alike and are the same as bricks in a wall. All the same.
This is really a three-part song, when you have the chance listen TOGETHER to Another Brick In The Wall part 1 + The Happiest Days Of Our Lives + Another Brick In The Wall part 2. The Wall is a concept album so the best way to listen to it is the entire thing from start to finish
The Wall is at the top of my list for least favorite album, but there are a few good songs on there. Please do Echoes live, the one with 37 million views.
From the Pulse Concert, check out RUN LIKE HELL.
watch the Wall it will change your life
Greatest live Concert ever……. Dude this was 1994!!!!!!
Next song High Hopes (live Pulse )

As much as I like Waters, and to me, Pink Floyd is not "THE Pink Floyd" anymore without him, he didn't write "all band's songs"...
@Garry Iglesias Thank you and don't miss the egomaniac Waters! Seen them with and without and believe me, he wasn't missed!

Great reaction!! May I suggest High Hopes from the same concert. ruclips.net/video/HX_du6Gcp1w/видео.html
to keep stage going cost £250.000 per day I read back in 1994
If you get the chance, watch The Wall (the movie) as this will give you more insight as to the meanings behind all of the songs 👍
Next Sorrow. Watch also David Gilmour Live in Pompeii 2016 or Echoes Live In Gdansk
And next ..HIGH HOPES (live PULSE )
And next HIGH HOPES (live Pulse )
I forgot that they used the "stone stone stone" echo from Animals at the end.
😎👍
