50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971
and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times.
Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.

The second guitarist is Tim Renwick. He does really nice pieces in the show.

The second solo was by Tim Renwick, one of the seasoned British session guitarist. He has pretty much been a sideman all of his life but has played on some huge albums like Year Of The Cat by Al Stewart.

Gilmore is a genuinly unique guitar hero. Find The Wall the movie as well! I was completely knocked by the movie, long time ago, I was only 16 yrs old when I saw the movie (1982) and it has stayed with me all my life. This song has followed me back into the classroom, being an English teacher, teaching my students the importance and meaning of lyrics and not just this song, but many more by Pink Floyd. Funny really how life may turn out... Stay in the music vibe always. 🎶🙋🇸🇪

And to think that this (now) iconic song wasn't supposed to look like this at all. Waters and Gilmour had completely different ideas, but Bob Ezrin (the album's producer and musician) suggested incorporating a children's choir into the song, which Waters flatly refused. Nevertheless, Ezrin secretly sent a sound engineer to a nearby school where, in agreement with the teacher, one class sang the choral part. Ezrin then secretly cut it and played it for Waters and Gilmour, and both had to admit that it was a great idea.
Pink Floyd released the song as a single and by March 1980 (the full album The Wall was released in 1979) over 2 million copies had been sold in the US and UK alone! In total it sold over 4 million. Commercially, it is probably Pink Floyd's most successful solo song.
However, Pink Floyd ended up being a bit embarrassed by this song - and that's because, ironically, it became a huge hit at discos in the first half of the 1980s.

sigh, why does every reactor pick this upload instead of the official one? Apparently this has to be said a million times: the ONLY official upload of Pulse on youtube is called 'restored & re-edited'. Everything else is uploaded by fans, and several of those videos have bits and pieces cut out to avoid copyright. This is one of those: part of the intro is missing.

      I see. I didn't know this.

Maybe they pick this one specifically to avoid copyright claims?
There is only a handful of bands/companies that will allow reactors with originals.

I thought this was Floyd’s own re-release of Pulse several years ago (for Blueray?), where Gilmour had chosen different audio recordings for the same video? Because the sync in places is terrible! And yeah I agree, I despise this audio version, Gilmour’s solos are just so much more stilted, the original CD/VHS/DVD release audio recordings were way better.

Tim Renwick also toured with Mike Oldfield in the 80's, as you have reacted to Gilmour and Knopfler, it would be great to hear what you think of Mike Oldfield.

The lyrics is a profpund reflection by Roger Waters on his own school experience as a young boy. Then he turns it into an existential argument as well and a comment on the state of England at the time too, I suppose.

Whoda thunk a little slap bass by Guy Pratt would sound so good on the second solo on this song lol.

Always loved that version. ruclips.net/video/xBQsQoGodPY/видео.html from 1980. Figuratively speaking, you needed 10 people back then, what any tablet could handle now. And I never saw 2 Keyboard-Players sitting side by side before.

You should have better used the video of the official Pink Floyd channel instead of the version of a fan made channel. Because the intro of the song in this fan made video was (terribly lousy) shortened, which in my opinion speaks for the fact that the channel keeper can't be a real fan. A real fan would never edit a Pink Floyd song. Apart from that, a good reaction to this song.
