As a South Korean it makes me so insanely happy that I may see my own flag in a future Le Mans race
2026, we could see McLaren with Meyer Shank Racing badge in IMSA.

As a Korean, I really really hope to Hyundai join Endurance. In Korea, most people are lukewarm of motorsport. And there are almost NONE of motorsport related infrastructures. I think this entry would hype the motorsport to Korean and make infrastructures fertile. Even if I would continue to support Ferrari....😂 I really really support Hyundai's entry for that reason.

is this the reason why the F1 in South Korea failed....?
@@johnpatricklim4509 Not totally, but one of the reasons.
현대는 토요타처럼 첨부터 만들 기술도 이유도 없어서 당연히 LMDh 규격으로 갈텐데 엔진도 사서 올릴 수도 있다는 거 보고 좀 아쉽네여 ㅋㅋㅋ
I think the longer these regs go the better tbh. Last 2 years have been great to watch endurance racing
Cool! C'mon in boy's...the water's fine.
Aston Martin, McLaren, Hyundai, and possibly Rimac joining WEC.... Man, LMH is evolving to a whole new level.
AND THEY DONT STOP COMING AND THEY DONT STOP COMING 😍😍😍😍😍
I hope Honda will join as well
acura represents them but yeah hopefully they join wec
@@R07CEI’m pretty sure Acura only sells in the USA so to enter a series outside of the USA Acura wouldn’t make sense
@@caledonianrailway1233so it would be honda ar-06 if they do which hopefully they do
@@caledonianrailway1233
Acura (much like Lexus [tho Lexus is much more global] and Toyota) is Honda's US luxury brand. If they go globe-trotting with the ARX-06, then it will be branded as a Honda since they have more of a presence globally (in Europe especially).
Not gonna happened
What do you think wtrandretti leave them
The one problem I see though with Hyundai entering a LMDh car is not so much on Hyundai themselves but the WEC. They’d be able to enter in a car no problem for IMSA, but the WEC has put the rule for next year that each manufacturer would have to run 2 cars per team (I think excluding the privateer entries) which would make it hard in the long run for any new manufacturers to enter.
2 Toyotas, 2 Ferraris, 2 Peugeots, 2 Porsches, 2 Alpines, 2 BMWs, and then 2025 2 Cadillacs, 2 Lamborghinis, and Isotta Fraschini will have 2 entries most likely, add Aston Martin with 2 entries, that’s already 20 cars without the privateer Hypercar entries. Ya already got 20 cars in LMGT3 with the same 2 cars per manufacturer basis. WEC wants to have the field at 40 cars max, the grid’s full. We got Hyundai close to a possible LMDh entry, ya got McLaren rumored for an entry, Vanwall to come back to WEC, any possible future LMH and LMDh entries, not to mention Audi and Mercedes want in into LMGT3, THERES NO ROOM. There’s legitimately no room! Privateer entries r gonna have to be kicked out of Hypercar and go to either IMSA or the possible AsLMS Hypercar class if that does happen. The FIA and ACO just didn’t plan long term for how many manufacturers came in all at once. I like that new manufacturers r coming into Hypercar and/or GTP but it’s like the hell r we gonna do if we can’t even fit any of these new manufacturers?
There are currently 18 cars in LMGT3. So it leaves 2 spaces in Hypercar that would be taken by the yellow AF Corse 499P and Proton Porsche 963
The more the merrier, ready to bring back WEC as the signature car race competition event, and beat NASCAR, INDYCAR, AND ESPECIALLY F1.
Endurance racing ain’t going to beat F1 with an Bop formula.
@@rexthewolf3149 Well with BoP, we've got this many cars in the first place. You were never going to get this many cars in the modern era without BoP. Group C only existed cuz people were super experimental in the 80s, doing everything and anything with tons of money to just see if they could make a fast car, nowadays people want to win without having to go broke, and this formula allows it.
@@Theel25 and considering we’re three years in and only three manufacturers have won in wec, is it really working.
@@rexthewolf3149 Yes because a car winning does not define the performance they have. Cadillac isn't weak just because they didn't win for example. Also it's less about "brand" wins than it is team wins. We got customer teams winning races, that should at least show that it's competitive enough where non-factory programs can actually race for wins.
@@Theel25 A customer team winning one race, ONE. Even then Porsche is the only company making customers cars.
FINALLY a South Korean manufacturer will enter in a major road racing series 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
IMO the need to go with Hyundai to promote the N brand even more.
Great news
Hyundai should be forced to have two hypercars in the World Endurance Championship. IMSA is different. Bop's performance
Tbh, in both series each mfr should only get 1 factory and 1 privateer team. It defeats the purpose when you’ve got 12 privateer Ferraris or Porsches on the grid and teams like Acura, Cadillac, bmw, Lexus, Toyota are literally bringing the same teams between 2 different racing series at times.
Its kind of weird how they get rid of lmp2 class to gave more space for new manufacturer but decided to tell manufacturer to join with the minimum of 2 cars half a year later...
@@Nothing.... fwiw watching WEC I completely ignore the LMP2 class because the cars are all identical and don’t have a strong enough brand identity to form a bond to, and don’t have a road car equivalent like GT3 does. At least in LMH you get to see the pinnacle of what can be created, LMP2 imo is where you’d go if your goal was to challenge yourself against a level playing field, but other one make series also exist and it’s just not a good watch for me in the way GT or HC is
@@e4ee4e9 fair i guess
It just doesnt make sense how they open up space for new manufacturer and just decided to decrease that space by only allowing a minimun of 2 hypercar
@@Nothing.... agreed. There’s certainly a happy medium to be found in terms of total cars on the grid, and atm it actually feels a little crowded imo. Would much rather see more mfrs, but that’s definitely a challenge when there’s so many cars on grid as is
this was also the talks of why hyundai might pull out of wrc to move its resources towards wec...but hyundai also has their team principal from F1 who has the experience running the team in circuit racing....
Genesis would be great because unlike Apline the cars are good and successful. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
Alpine's road car is good mate what are you on about
good news, but that starts to be A LOT of manufacturers. in my opinion, the championship will have to prepare plans for the exit of some of them.
@Formula Jonah Hyundai would be great addition. But is there any space for them, let alone if McLaren and Alfa Romeo enter as well?
Well, IndyCar may be the number of cars per team to 3 cars in 2025/6, so Ganassi could happen. But, I still think he's working on a Ford deal with his running Ford cars every time Ford for been in Sport Cars from the Grand-Am DP days.
@@Eagleracer38x
True but for some reason they're skipping the Mustang? Not sure why.
IDK either. Maybe they are going to be the factor Ford team in WEC, they have the facilities already for the Caddy WEC program. Maybe an unyet announced hypercar program. It's just a feeling.
@@Eagleracer38x
Maybe but this does seem like a council thing, similar to the hydrogen class. Not sure if Ford is a part of that working group.... keep in mind that this is wild speculation on my part.
It’s still in limbo but it seems more tangible than other speculated entries
Thanks FJ. So why do you think more manufacturers are choosing LMDH over LMH (except Aston Martin)? The LMH cars seem to have better results at Le Mans..
Most likely because the barrier for entry in LMDH is lower, with more standardised parts, so it's more appealing for manufacturers with limited technical resources, budget, or both. That, and in theory they are supposed to be as competitive as LMH. We saw the Cadillacs and Porsches do very well in this years Le Mans and they both had a car in the running for an outright win until around the last 3 hours. It was the first outing for the other LMDHs in this year's Le Mans so it's hard to use them to compare LMH vs LMDH.
Cost
As a kia owner lfg!
The wec would be I think be difficult because of the grid size
It would be nice for Mercedes AMG to reconsider their racing programs, with emphasis on endurance and reliability rather than pure speed as F1 operate. With experience in customer GT3 racing in IMSA, it would be better for LMH and LMDh to have one thing: MGU-H on turbochargers for more efficient energy recovery and less turbo lag, as we saw Porsche uses such in t-hybrid track focused performance hybrid system on 992.2 Carrera/Targa 4 GTS. Then if Alpine and some unreliable ones being pulled the plug, why not Mercedes AMG to reconsider joining sports car racing as a works team again so that next gen AMG One would be a sports prototype matching LMH reg?
Good news
Better news , BYD and other Chinese brands get in !
Hyundai, keep cooking 🔥🇰🇷
This would be great🤙
I hope when Hyundai and McLaren did joined IMSA one day, they should brought in McLaren Solus and Hyundai VISION GT cars to compete in real life IMSA & WEC Seasons!
That would not be possible using the LMDh platform, which Hyundai/KIA/Genesis and McLaren are looking into. They would need to adopt the LMH platform which is more expensive amd therefore less likely to happen.
I want McLaren to join both LMH or LMDH. Or just one. But since the regs are extended till 2029, I feel they have to enter by 2026. A good solid 4yr program.
Making two cars in tow different set of regulations (LMH and LMDh) that can both compete in the same championships (IMSA and WEC) would not make sense financially.
@@ananastudio that and the fact that Zac Brown has been keeping an eye on LMDh pacifically because of the cost. In fact it's actually the same reason we're talking about Hyundai in the same sentence, LMDh is just cheaper to work with.
Ford said they are considering entering the class as well
False. Ford's CEO downplayed the idea of competing in the top category.
What about audi and aston martin I thought they were going to?

Ok..... Explain the Hyundai PM580
Chip ganassi racing what?!
The McLaren rumors are probably gonna end up being fake, as it it will just be a rebadged version of another car, nothing new.
If you calling it fake
Then ACO need to kick out both McLaren and Ford
I'd like them to go in as Hyundai rather than as their luxury brand. An ordinary folk's car competing against the establishment. Even though it's one of the biggest car companies in the world it's going to be the little guy in endurance racing that Hyundai road car owners and those who like to see the minnows rise to the top can get behind.
Maybe so, but Genesis also launched their Magma performance division. Hyundai N is not well known, but they're far better off than Genesis in motorsport, and more ppl already know Hyundai goes racing. They don't need endurance racing as much as Genesis does. And seeing as though endurance racing is widely considered to be one of the premier motorsport divisions in the world, it makes more sense that the upmarket Genesis brand go racing there instead of Hyundai, at least from a brand identity perspective
@mrsoisauce9017 good point
KIA should be the brand chosen by Hyandai to race. They are part of the same automotive group.
@@ananastudio I beg to differ. Yes, it’d be cool to see Kia go racing, but their last sport sedan (the Kia Stinger) flopped hard, and it doesn’t seem like they built a new one ever since. It’s a damn shame because the Stinger was a great car, but after that, I don’t know if Kia could lean more into sporty cars for a while. Therefore, they don’t need to go racing, and it sure as hell ain’t a priority for them. Genesis with the new Magma brand makes far more sense
Hyundai's WEC or IMSA programs = death of Rally1 cars. Bye-bye WRC
Rally2 will just takeover anyways, Rally1 is being phased out for 2026 replaced with ostensibly new Group A regulations,
Nah just call them Hyundai. Everyone knows the brand name. I don’t know how many people will care about 2 Phil Collins’ running about on track
Wec>imsa
Judging by their efforts in the WRC, they will be like Toyota in F1. An expensive failure
On a personaI note: I hope Hyundai will perform worse than Vanwall.
More broadly speaking: Rally 1 is gonna die, innit? With Ford building up a GT3 programme and the Korean Oligarchs entering the Hypercar fray, interest for WRC's Rally1 Class seems to fade rapidly. And with Rovanperä and Ogier there are two WRC champions who'd rather drive anything but a Rally1 Car nowadays. If Rovanperä in particular continues to adapt to other disciplines at this rate, i'd not be surprised to see him in a Toyota Hypercar within the next five years.
Trash car
FORD MUSTANG NEED TO LEAVE
Nah, the McLaren 720s LMGT3 need to leave. Ford at least made a GTE while McLaren is only there because United Autosport (WEC usual) chose that brand.
@@ananastudio track grid slot is limited
If Aston Martin, hyundai or maybe honda and McLaren hypercar join
They need to leave
And also hypercar customer proton and yellow af corse
Like too much Porsche's this time
@@Bncxx1275 Aston Martin already confirmed that they will join next year. I don't expect Honda to join since they are focusing on their 2026 F1 engine and McLaren said they "have been looking to join" every year since 2021. Hyundai/KIA/Genesis would be in 2026 at the earliest, which gives enough time for brands like Peugeot and BMW to scrap their program after failing to achieve success. Also in 2025, there will be as much Porsches as Ferrari in the Hypercar category with 22 available spots and 10 manufacturers that must field 2 cars each which leaves 2 places for the Proton 963 and the AF Corse yellow 499P.
@@ananastudio still what ACO want is hypercar priorities
