I think lots of people look back at the Venator with rose tinted glasses. It really isn’t that great, but because it’s the only Venator, it’s seen as a legendary set
You can also easily mod it to a better shape without using any new bricks
@@aeway_ exactly what I did ... really easy to gut the interior and make it slim
Yeah it definitely has great modding potential. I added some pieces to build greebled strips along the side to cover the technic and filled in the hangar. With modern pieces and a desire to make it more of a display model than a play set, lego could really knock it out of the park if they ever decided to make another one
true
I think a lot of people who don’t have the set like to talk shit about it
2009 was such a great year for sets. The hyena droid bomber isn't even that bad of a set since it was cheap
True
I honestly love the rocket battle droids they are my favorite version of the b1 and the hyena bomber is awesome
I love that bomber have him on my shelf right now chillin
We’ll never get another era like this.
It really is sad to think about. I was into lego at the time but only 6, and my family was considerably less wealthy so I couldnt even get them if I wanted them. There will never be another TCW.
clone wars minifigs are just embarrassing.
We will, don't worry
I think you’re just trying to say you’ll never be a kid during a Lego Star Wars wave again. You can’t beat nostalgia.
Isen't 2022 kind of a good Wave? I mean we have commander cody and lots of other good stuff
How I miss the days when these were available for fair prices.
Shout out to my grandma as well. 2009 recession and she pulled AT-OT+Dropship somehow... too good.
Goated year
You said it brother
Exactly
Insane that for a worst to first, this year started off with Hyena Droid Bomber and the Assassin Droid battle pack, two completely okay sets that would have been half way up any other year.
Ahhh 2009 I had so much fun with the sets I had and it was my first time owning LEGO sets. I lost all of the stuff I had from 2009 over the years and recently started obtaining them again. Bringing so much Nostalgia especially watching TCW every week.
The 2009 nostalgia just hits different
This was one of the greatest years of LEGO Star Wars!
I always was wondering what was so bad about the vulture droid because I always liked it
i guess people just dont see it translated well into lego
(Assuming you mean the Hyena Bomber) It's just way too big and also pretty flimsy. It's not a terrible set imo but definitely flawed.
Yeah I meant to say the hyena bomber
I actually rather like it, Lots of play value, Impressive size and cool minifigures
got one at a swap meet for $5 and honestly it’s a really nice build, looks pretty cool too
So many legendary sets from that year, Endor Bunker, AT-OT, Y-Wing, Venator…
LEGO, let’s get some remakes going! 👀
Hi
The only one that has a chance of a remake is Endor, because it’s Original Trilogy
@@CanadaBricks Y-Wing?
Just wow. The editing for thus WtoF was just amazing! Hope to see more soon.
Instead of an endor bunker remake in a single set, I would like to see them make a sub theme of different sets for different rooms/ sections of the base and enable them to be able to connect to each other perfectly.
These are still my favorite videos from you, thanks for uploading!
This video really took me back in time. Loved that mid scale Falcon. That Echo Base set was awesome. Remember my parents buying that for me at Target.
24:20 The aurebesh isn’t very well formed, but I believe it says “laugh this off”
Edit: added time stamp
On one side (the left, as you look at the ship nose-on) it indeed says "Laugh this off", but on the other side where the text reads from nose to tail they didn't leave enough space for the final "F" so it actually says "Laugh this of".
Love seeing the information in the greebling on the bottom, nice touch!
The midiscale falcon on that stand looks great, have Han and Chewie on that stand and they could grift it off as mini-UCS for office desks and give it a high price tag. Could work with so many ships and would be a better series than Brickheads.
@10:29 the translucent orange sphere part usage is rad. Such a cool set! 👍 It’s a trap!!! Can never go wrong with an Ackbar minifig.
Thank Bionicle for that one
My son was into building these sets back then. Great memories. Thanks.
Oh wow i really like the new layout you have for these types of videos
This was a insane year these sets are amazing I wish we got sets like these nowadays
I’ve been looking forward to this
My favorite era of sets! Clone Wars Friday night on Cartoon Network then going to the store and seeing the sets on the weekend was the best!
Nostalgic… oh man that Battle of Endor set was Awesome. I loved the Bunker build. I kinda hope that Lego decides to remake this set in the future with perhaps updated Minifigures of Endor Han & Leia.
Been waiting for this one
Oh wow, I did not realize you'd been on RUclips since 2009. I wonder if we ever crossed paths in the old days. I'm also here in Florida and I'm an old friend of Ross, David, and idk if you know of Jacob and the other guys. Crazy I'm still watching Lego videos as innocently as ever in 2022. My old channel name was Flaminbabies735 and I did all sorts of stuff but mostly customs. This video is like insanely nostalgic. I still have all old my old sets, never sold a single one.
This is a insane era of sets I wish we got these good of sets for years nowadays
I missed these kinds of videos. LET'S GO
10:31 fun fact: in Return of The Jedi, admiral Ackbar was a ventriloquist puppet for the chair scenes and the “It’s A Trap!!” Scene
Ackbar was played by an actor but not for every scene
This information forever changed how I watch that iconic scene!
This video made me realize that 80% of my small collection is from 2009
The atot is always a set I look at on my bricklink part out lists. The clone walker battle pack is forever my favorite set though. It was my first Lego set, I owned like 10 when I was a kid. I bought a sealed one to place next to my sealed 501st battle pack.
Great year with great sets
I only had three sets from this year being Darth Vader‘s Tie Advanced, The Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, and The Clone Walker Battle Pack
Home One should be a top 5 IMO, great exclusive figs, plenty of play features, esp with the hanger rotation and crane.
Fax! you have to have it in person to appreciate its greatness!!
My god I can't believe I STILL have the Republic Dropship in a sealed box. 😳 That's 13 years I've had it now, and every time I see it I'm so tempted to build it.
Do it if you don't plan on selling it
I’ve been counting down the hours till this video was released since you announced it in the razor crest stream
Top 5 2009 sets :
1 At-ot with dropship
2 clone battle pack
3 Venator (a bit overrated but still great)
4 pirate tank (the set with Hondo)
5 the battle of Endor (Endor bunker)
Pirate tank was trash
I love the hyena bomber. It was probably my 2nd lego star wars set I ever got and I had so much fun playing with it. I’d rank it higher but that’s just me
Good vid
A fantastic Lego Star Wars year
The mini-scale sets would be amazing today. So many iconic sets they could do. It would be a great market for adults and teens who might not want a giant lego set but just something simple and detailed that looks cool to display.
So many fun memories of this wave. My close friends and I would try to coordinate our purchases in an attempt to collect the entire wave (weren’t successful). This was a great wave with so many sets that are still highly sought after to this day.
I may have shared this story before, but back then I lent my Y-wing to one of those friends (he lent me the pirate tank) and the following week I found out he dropped it and it was in pieces. Never put it back together but I’m slowly gathering the parts to hopefully one day reassemble that amazing set. Think all I have left is one of the engine/thruster things.
I loved the Separatist shuttle, but I feel like they should have had a lot more interior space in it, since the ship itself appears rather bulky
Aw man, the Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon is simple yet Awesome… and I remember it being the first ever Lego Millennium Falcon I ever got… I remember as a kid I really wanted to get a Millennium Falcon set.. so this set is Nostalgic for me.
I love the Midi sets I got both of them as a kid still have them
Nice!
Lol the hyena one was one of the only ones I had and loved it so much
One of the very few times I could say I wouldn’t be upset getting any of these sets today
You can tell how nostalgic everyone is for these years. Interesting to think about how in about 10 years, the younger media will be super nostalgic and probably praise our current waves of sets. Interesting perspective in the grand scheme of things. Kinda cool.
Super cool
18:14 "They FLY now?!!"
Bro that grandma has got to be the most dope grandma ever for buying you that for your birthday.
I have now learned that most of my old Lego collection comes from 2009. I have also learned that I missed all the best sets from 2009. Tragedy
Me getting the clone trooper battle pack is one of the greatest Lego memories I ever have
These sets were classics, I still try to buy them!
“A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one”
Just rewatched this because why not and it's funny how u say all the things about the midi scale falcon then a year later we got the star distroyer lol
This Lego line is literally my childhood, my brother and I have the two worst XD
I love my Lego Star Wars Hyena Droid Bomber, never disliked it, I think it was my first Clone Wars set aswell as what got me into SW TCW
My favourite sets I got from this year would be count dookus solar sailer the separatist shuttle the venator republic attack shuttle and the clone walker battle pack
Hey ryan hope you do a video on the new walmart exclusive 3 in 1 star wars set. Haven’t seen much coverage on it but it’s one of the best deals available right now and not many people know about it
had all of these in 5th grade i was def the coolest kid in my class lol
I loved this year! It can also double with 2010 too
The droid bomber is actually closer to scale then you think. The bomber is near in size to the xwing.
nice one
It’s kinda funny that on the box of the darth Vader’s tie fighter his hand was upside down holding his lightsaber
With midi scale possibly coming back, I hope we get a Venator in that size
Really hoping for that 501st y-wing for 2023 with Phase 2 Rex. The 2009 looks so good
Totally accurate!
I agree with the midi-sets being before their time. It's a product I wish we had more of for somebody who just wants to have a decent model of iconic ships that isn't microfighter small but still retains some interesting details like a playset or UCS would. $40 is a big ask for a set like that though, oof.
I honestly think while we wont get a Dropship and AT-OT together ever again, i think we can defintly get a AT-OT by itself, and who knows maybe they could release the dropship with a hailfire or other tank, and it could be compatible with the AT-OT and AT-TE
echo base was one of my first memories of lego
The AAT is basically the droid version of the 2021 fighter tank
What you consider doing a top ten most battle pack like sets? Kinda like the battle on saleucami where it isn’t a battle pack but can be used as one. This could be judged by price per minifig, accessibility, if the minifigs are exclusive, and least amount of figs you would have to sell.
Ask MandR:do you think a really Lego set (specifically Lego star wars) will ever be bigger as in more pieces then the world map?
Damn the Lego drop ship this time should be remade again and should be based on Episode 2, so in dept I like that scene were the republic ship has extra reload shooter ammo
2009! The year I was born!
the legend never dies...
I miss the clone commander I had one and I lost it after yearssssssss and it was my go to trooper
I just commented he should do this last MandR ask
You should do a worst to first all grey LEGO Star Wars ships 😂, that video would be like an hour long
I have my republic attack shuttle on the boba fett head sets stand to splay the wings and it works great
I have an idea for a rereleased venator it would be ashokas from season 7 it would come with some 332nd troopers, p2 Rex, Ashoka, maybe maul the interior would be the scene where Rex and the 332nd clones attack Ashoka. This seems like a good play set that would do good maybe for like 200$ dollars
if someone cant decide if they should get that y-wing since it's kinda pricey nowadays- do, you won't regret it. It's so f-ing beefy and heavy. just remember to put something under those big engines if you want it on display, it's a heavy set and I imagine the bricks can bend under their own weight.
If I wasn't such a huge sucker for 2007 y-wing I would call that one my favourite y-wing since it really feels like a proper bomber- you pick it up and think "oh yeah that's a bomber alright".
As for number 1- yeah, no contest. The set is absolutely insane and despite me struggling not to collect republic ground forces (due to no space in my flat for some) I would buy this set asap if I had spare dosh for it
Tantive IV is one of my favorite sets I have, and I have a lot of star wars Lego. I can't really fathom how you score the republic shuttle higher than it. Whenever I look at the republic shuttle it looks clumsy. Do you think you like it more because it has similarities with the imperial shuttle?
You should do a review of the separatist shuttle
great year!
You should do a worst to first of all the worst sets of each year
You should do a echo base comparison
The republic drop ship with at- oT clone sticker says laugh this something? Any good luck on your videos mandroproductions
My grandpa got the midi-scale Millennium Falcon when I was a kid. Honestly, it's really selfish, but I couldn't help but look at the UCS Millennium Falcon in my Lego catalogs and feel kinda jibbed, lol.
The separatist Shuttle is called the Sheathapeade
2009 was when I started taking an interest in Lego and Star Wars, since I’m as 5 years okd
I got the hyena bomber twice as kid!
“If Lego were to remake this as a UCS set today”
The Endor bunker would make an awesome Master Builder Series set ala cloud city and the cantina
Would love to see a new Solar Sailer. Imagine it today as a £60 set.
Ryan I know your feelings about microfighters, but can we have some related content please?
Fun Fact: 8036 Separatist Shuttle was my first LEGO Star Wars set.
