Wondering if you could do a cost, time, and parts breakdown, I have an identical avant and wanna do the same swap lol. Sick that you actually got it done though man, I haven’t seen any videos for this🙏
@LiamFan-t3x there were a couple of ways I could have gone about it. I actually took the whole front subframe with the engine connected from the s5 and bolted it to the a4. And yea, it bolted right in.
@LiamFan-t3x the other way, would have been doing just an engine pull or pulling engine and trans (6spdzf) and fight with clearance 2x (in and out)/take out each at a section at a time
@@KennyJ1987 I see. I think the way you did it was best. One last question, how do you plan to go about the interior electronics(HVAC controls, window switches, radio, etc..)?
@LiamFan-t3x I got options there too I found. I was told I have to use the s5 harness, but because everything is undocumented I left all the options the avant came with in there. Atm, everything appears to be communicating as it should electronically. Just no rpm needle movement after it abruptly shut off after 3 secs'ish, I'm hoping it's just a crankshaft/cam sensor
@@KennyJ1987 there are a lot of B8 A4 owners (myself included) who would love to keep our cars on the road. You can do it. It seems like it’s already been done. Make sure to take video too. 👍
@benzin5458 from what I've learned, the swaps that have been done have swapped all modules. For me I have all the modules, but then "why swap all of them" is what made me go the route that I have. Thinking of the person who finds the 4.2v8 in a junk yard when the time comes
@rlclips8991 there was a change in the way the driveshaft bolted to the trans....the 8zf the car came with was splined, the 6zf was bolt...not just that the s5 drive shaft was too short.
That's sick bro!
I'd love to see updates on the build 💪💪

@user-zy7nn5px8w that I can. The next vid I shoot I'll try to fit that in
hows it going? i just got an avant b8 also but was planning on s4 swap but s5 swap sounds wayyy better lol
Not bad, just got make time to swap out the engine harness....I got it started. Lasted a glorious 3 sec
Really I wish I would have gave it more time to have procured the rs5, but I got whatever the first to become avaible was...
Nice! did the engine drop right in?

@@KennyJ1987 What were the other ways? I think you did the more reasonable direct way.

Get it running?
@benzin5458 not as of yet. Tbh I haven't had the opportunity to focus on it just yet

How does the ecu and ecm tuning work
I used the ecu/ecm from the s5....I haven't done a tune on it yet
Did the trans bolt right on or did you have to modify something?
The Transmission did bolt right up. Only thing I had to do was swap the center driveshaft
@@KennyJ1987so you swapped the center driveswap for reliability or was it just not fitting

@@KennyJ1987 what wiring did you have to do for the hatch ?
@cedric6475 with the way i went about it I didn't have to touch the avant harness
