The Nidecker Mellow is a pretty fun board, a directional, mainly camber with a rocker nose and a short stiff tail. It holds a good edge, is very solid at speed and turns quickly and easily.

Hi. Could you recommend this board for 60% on piste and 40% off piste boarding in European resorts (Italy, Austria, France) with intermediate experience? I am thinking about Mellow, Yes PYL, K2 Simple Pleasures, Nitro Slash. Which one you recommend?

From your other options I have only ridden the Slash, but I would definitely be able to recommend the Mellow. It has a good mix of solid camber feel, and carving is nice with the little bit of extra width. Although I haven't gotten to ride it in powder, I imagine it would be good.

How similarly does this ride to the Endeavor Scout, if you’ve ridden that too?
Seem comparable in regards to shape, profile, flex - curious on opinions whether there’s a clear winner between the two

Hi Lachie, another great review! I have a bit of an unrelated question. I have been riding the Burton Free Thinker and Deep Thinker for the last year or so. I like them both. Even though the FT is pretty stiff, but I still like it a lot. I like the solid feel of the camber. The only issue I have with it is that I have found it a bit 'catchy' when riding off piste. So I'm thinking about other boards. I saw you review on the Super Pig. It looks great. But I wonder if it is too similar to the DT. What do you think? Also, would I be better to look at the War Pig, as a versatile companion to the DT??

Thanks! I haven't ridden the Free Thinker or Deep Thinker myself, but a couple of friends have (who have a similar riding style to me) so I can sort of guess from there. Technically the Deep Thinker and the Superpig have a similarish profile, but other than that everything seems to be taken a notch up with the Superpig. Stiffer flex, more rocker, shorter and wider. I think you would probably find it a little less "catchy" than the Free Thinker, similar to how the Free Thinker feels, at least in edge hold.
The Warpig is definitely much more forgiving, I don't think you'd find it catchy at all. I like the feeling of camber, so all the good parts of the Warpig make sense with the camber in the Superpig sound really good, but it is on the edge of being too stiff. You would want to be riding pretty aggressively, or at least on steep and rough terrain to really get the best out of the Superpig I think, compared to the easier Warpig.

@@SnowboardRobot Have you had a look at the Twin Pig?

@@rogerpye1865 it's on my list to try, I like the sound of it having a bit of extra width, and decent camber. Hopefully I can try it in the next couple of months

Snowboard Robot Yep, it looks really good. Only concern is that os might be a bit soft.

I had a Deep Thinker a couple of seasons ago. Scratch any review of mine, because you already know how it rides. I also had a Skeleton Key at the same time, and despite coveting the DT (I mean, they're so hyped and so cool), honest, the SK was just more.... fun.
More forgiving flex, better taper for carving, you could wring the crap out of the last half of a carve by really driving into the board and tightening your radius. And somehow, it was just more "friendly" - I could be totally lazy on it, or I could go into destruction mode, and I never felt like it was not enough, or too much.

What can you say - is it good for carving? What about rocker nose?

    • @SnowboardRobot

Yeah it definitely is a good board for carving, the wider width, and the rocker nose make turns start easily and smoothly, it doesn't feel like a loose ride at all.

Hi, can you compare mellow vs nitro dropout and capita mercury ( ride, dampness, playfulness, stability, speed, pop, response, edge hold on ice terrain ) cause I got the best deal on nitro dropout 150 Euro less than on mercury ? Thanks

@@officialmcloven9950 It was the 155, and that would suit your weight and height, plus it is a bit wider as well.

is this the same as the liberty?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  4 года назад

They are pretty much the same - same camber, shape but the Liberty has a faster base and a different material for the topsheet.
