Great job ! What a patience, I’m convinced we will come back to more serviceable designs in the future, I’m a bit of an optimist and your videos are surely very useful to help convince on that !
You are right, they are made to be not opened and attempted to be fixed. If you do get in, its made bad enough so most will give up. Truly a darn shame they went this way.
Hey Chris if it hot glue. U can turn can of compressed air upside down spray it and it freezes the glue and it breaks away. Cheers for interesting vid mate.
That was a nice fix especially when they don't make it easy... oh I just had a thought... how does the reading compare with your box of replacement capacitors? do they vary widely or are they pretty good? I can tell you're chuffed because you've finally justified picking up the selection pack!
Thanks Martin. I did check the new ones before installing them and they were all consistently well within spec. Of course, they may not have a long life in circuit as the selection pack was pretty cheap!
@@freedomfighter8958 Certainly not for any scrap value. And not worth saving for parts value - although occasionally I pluck one off an old board for a repair job if I don't have a new one in stock 👍
Yes, finally we get to do some necessary recapping. Good fix Chris. 👍
Haha, yeah - and this time that was all that was wrong! Thanks mate 👍
We see today (sadly) expiration dates, limited shelf life, planned obsolescence. You are a refreshing change! Keep it up.
Thanks mate. I think my shelf life is limited - but the expiration date is hopefully a long way off and luckily I don't need refrigeration! 😉🤣
Showing your skills and patience as ever 🙂👍
There's an upcoming repair that really tested my patience Sollers! Ever pulled apart an earbud? 😜
I know you aren't really in the repair business, but it is good to see the process and the results, even when you can't save them.
I do enjoy the repairs Rick - it will always be a big part of the channel! 😊👍
Great patience you have.
Thanks for your good video.
Many thanks for watching! 👍
Big effort mate. Well done. Wish I had your patience.
Thanks Glen. It's probably better characterised as stubbornness! 😜

Let's hope things change Retif! 🙏
Dodgey batch! Good save! 👍
It seems so Geoff! Thanks mate 👍
Nice job Detectives Chris 😃
Thanks Wayne! 👍😊
Brilliant thanks so much Chris, mum will be chuffed!
No worries Lyn, thanks for watching! 😊👍

Yep, very disappointing!
Great job. So glad it works.
Thanks! It was very satisfying to see it come to life again! 😊
Thanks Chris ...I would have tossed it. The amazing world of design obsolescence...it has to shift
Most people would toss it! Certainly not economical to fix in monetary terms! Let's hope things change!
They must have been grotty capacitors to heat up swell and go out of spec with no more than 9V! Well done, Sherlock 🙂
Yep Dave - quality seems to have gone right out of the window these days!

Cool thanks Graham, I'll try that next time! 👍😊

Buenísimo gracias!!!👋👋🇦🇷
Gracias por ver! 😊
Thank you
Thanks Cynthia 😊
How do you recycle the batteries? Can you scrap them?
I just take them to the local transfer station where they have a bin especially for batteries. I must find out how they deal with them one day!
My first guess was that the power button was faulty... 🤷♂️
You know, I didn't even consider that initially! If I hadn't of found dodgy caps, I would have checked the switch eventually!
How much do those capaciters cost?
They are very cheap actually. I think the whole assortment was only about $25!
@@TheUltimateRecycler true, so i guess not worth microscrapping them off boards
