As someone considering engineering and having to do all the maths/physics pre-requisites - I liked Mat's point about them only being tools and I am hoping it becomes more practical as the degree progresses. Thank you
Thx for this collaboration , could you make a video about some students who finds difficult in college but still love construction, in other words comparisons between college and real life , thank you so much ☺️
Facts on paying more in construction 😂😂 in college I interned for a major GC on the mainland after interning for a civil engineering design firm the year prior, aside from the pay I loved how dynamic the day to day was. It took me a few years working to switch to the government side (surprisingly to pay much better than what I was making on the construction side minus sacrificing work life balance lol). The burnout in construction was real, the mobility requirements were challenging but the growth, travel opportunities, and experiences I had were invaluable. I worked mega projects and smaller projects, I loved the smaller projects cause I got to touch a variety of scopes and positions unlike the mega projects where like Kienen said you tend to get pigeonholed in one scope path (usually superintendent vs “engineer”) . Even though I’m no longer directly in the construction engineering side, I still always advocate younger engineers to give it a chance because I was even surprised that I would’ve liked the work or stayed as long as I did. It also has given me an edge now on the government side cluing in my peers on how to most effectively work with contractors. Great content as always Kienen !
I’m a geotechnical engineer but I’m about to change my mind because of you two haha I love your channel!!☺️ …Specially ‘cause I can’t find channels for geotechnical engineers as good as yours 🥺 Keep it up!!!! You guys are amazing and inspiring!!!👏👏
Could you make a video talking about internships? Like when to start looking, what knowledge you should have, and the different types possibly? That would be super helpful! And thanks for coming back!!
Huge fan of your videos Kienen, I’ve learned a lot from watching your vids. I was hoping you had online courses or do individual sessions with people, I would love to have a chat and ask you some questions
Hey Kienen, so glad you’re back! I have a question that might be a first for you. 😅 Might sound kind of dumb. 😅 So I’m a high school senior aspiring to be a structural engineer and I know that they have to take the FE and PE and even in some states the SE. A lot of tests. 😅 But I was wondering if say a structural engineer who wanted to understand more of the building process should study and take the PE exam for construction. I remember in one of Mats videos how when structural engineers study and take the PE/SE exam for structures it helps to fill in any technical knowledge and I thought maybe the construction exam could do the same for someone whose in the design side of things. BTW: I’m also a carpenter. 😅 So I have a basic knowledge for how things are built. BASIC. 😅😅😅 Thx.
MY TWO FAVORITE RUclipsRS COLLABING 🤩🤩🤩 legends
Thanks!!
PART 1!!!!!! How many parts do we get the pleasure of watching?? You guys should make this a series!
Maybe 9?
Waiting for this type of content Kienen. Currently a construction engineering student major! ♥️
Nice!
So Apt!!! What he said about Statics and Dynamics. I didn't take them seriously because they seemed so abstract, regretted it later on.
nice one. thank you so much kienen love from philippines
Appreciate it! 🤙

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Well said 🤙
I love mat’s tip on the communication skills! Lots of people have the technical skill without the people skills but it’s so important!
Agreed!
