I loveeee your channel I’ve just discovered it and is shocked u weren’t a channel with 50k subs (yet lolz), You’ve made me want to get back into drawing. Your tips are super helpful I hope u post more soon.
Extremely well put together drawing lesson! You nail it with the what to's, how to's, why to's, and because to's with such a welcoming and friendly manner. Reminds me of my high school art teacher, way back in the 1900's (1998) who really got me excited about being artistic. You have that same presence that I loved about her. Awesome job! Thank you algorithm for the recommendation! Instant subcriber 👍
This is so so kind, I am so glad that you enjoyed this video!! This is exactly why I made it/ started this RUclips channel, to reach out and connect with fellow artists on here 😌 Thank you so much for the encouragement and kindness!!
Drawing #1 can be improved on by pushing the values. However, this is not to say it went wrong, but it was finished early, i.e. it may be judged as being incomplete and as such it can be improved on. The point is: we ought to be mindful of how we use words - they affect our minds. Imo, to label your unfinished drawing #1 "wrong" is unfair criticism of an otherwise perfectly fine drawing. And who says a drawing needs to be finished? E.g. if we don't allow a drawing to go "wrong", training drawing will be a very slow and time consuming process since all drawings would needs to be finished in order to get it "right". And what if you don't have the skills and knowledge to draw something anatomically correct yet, are you drawings "wrong" then? Pushing darker value is part of the learning cure, and we should not make exceptions. Otherwise, our current drawing performance may mislead us to believe we don't have what it takes when we fail to to live up to our own expectations. If we want to improve we need to have expectation on ourself, but it is not helpful telling ourself "you did it wrong", but "here is were you still can improve". Notice the word "still" - that words celebrate every mistake as a positive thing. Our mistakes are something that can help us achieve our goal to become better at what we already are doing well at. In general no drawing is ever wrong. It is what it is, a drawing. Being a bad drawing is not a universal but always a comparison to a certain standards or expectations. Remove those expectations and a drawing will just be a drawing in its own right. E.g. we don't tell children their drawings are wrong or bad when they draw wonky circles and boxes, because we acknowledge they lack the motor skills and thus we don't have that expectation on them to perform. The same should go with any drawing with any person at any expertise level. In particular with yourself. Be kind to yourself.
@@laneydreams I'll ask you stupid questions related to art every now and then so please 🐻 with me, you see I'm bit of a mid tier wannabe artist but I want to improve, and thank you for your reply 🖖🏼🫶🏼.
