Pretty interesting how you got a dream where someone sang that particular song, uh two questions: what gender are you and what gender is the person who sang that song? Because pretty much if I'm wrong, that person could've been your future bride or groom.
I wish Disney made more songs like these, non-auto tuned singer(s) just filled with talent, with an orchestra playing in the background, and a beautiful sounding chorus
That said, it helps that the orchestral elements were composed by Tchaikovsky for his Sleeping Beauty ballet. How many living composers would be capable of making something similarly impactful?
This is my absolute favorite Disney song! It makes me so nostalgic. It’s so beautiful and magical sounding. Everything I love about Disney wrapped up in one song.
I know you! I walked with you once upon a dream I know you! I remember when I was little, I was in love with Aurora and the movie. For some reason I felt a connection with her that I didn’t feel with the other Disney princesses and I didn’t know why. When I got a bit older I found out why. I found out that me and Aurora like to daydream. Whether it be about a random boy we’ve never met or anything else. Even till this day, she is still my Number 1 princess.
Same... I thought it was just because her dress is pink (younger me loves pink) and the way my dad/mom call me sleeping beauty before going to bed or her physical traits, the fairies etc... But now I know why, every time I sing this,my voice is more fitting in Once upon a dream(because my voice kinda sounds like for opera(?, But more quiet, because I don't really sing much in the past) just need a little more practice), every time I take the 'which princess are you, quizzes she's always at the top, and we kinda have some similarities (not physically) like some of her hobbies..(and I love her dress, from both her as Rose and her as princess aurora) (Sorry for some bad Grammar)
This movie was one of my favorite movies growing up. I absolutely love this song. So beautiful. Mary Costa’s voice is angelic and I love the chorus at the end with all the singers. It really is very dreamy
Yesterday I was holding my grandson and he wouldn't quiet down. Other songs weren't working and then i remembered this one. I began to sing this song to him. I sang it as if I was telling him the story of my dreaming for him. His cries soon ceased & he just watched me and listened as I sang to him. It didn't take long before he was fast asleep. I think I'll call him my little "Sleeping Handsome" from now on.

Okay but like both Aurora's and Phillip's voice are amazing. Ya know it is really hard to hear a disney prince sing especially in that era so I was really suprised. And Aurora's voice was really different from Snow White, Cinderella and a lot of princesses that came before and after her but I really love it. It has a uniqueness though I love other princesses' voices. Mary Costa and Bill Shirley are legends.
The version in Maleficent is nice, but this one sounds more cheery. Maybe that's why people like the other one better, but I like songs like this too. Still, they both rock.
the reason lana sang this in maleficent so darkly and eerily is bc it was from maleficent's pov. of course it wasn't gonna be cheery bc maleficent wasn't happy. i don't understand why people don't get it.
@@hayis4horsesxx170 Her version isn't dark, it's lacking in any emotion at all. "Vesti La Giubba" from Pagliacci is dark and depressing, but it still requires skill to perform and still conveys the anguish of the singer. Lana Del Rey's version doesn't require any particular skill to sing.
Just feel like pointing out she doesn't actually marry him in the film, she just dances with him. She does however, get annoyed when people try and marry her to someone she hasn't met at all haha
Why do people have to compare the two? They simply made a darker version because Maleficient is a darker story of Sleeping Beauty. They weren't trying to make a replica so it's not fair to do that to Lana.
I guess because people keep praising Lana's when her singing was actually rather flat and not a very good choice in comparison to Mary Costa's magnificently trained opera singer's voice. The music also isn't very good, though catchy and certainly dark, next to the Tchaikovsky music here.
You're still missing my point though. They're not trying to have anything to do with Mary's, really. You even used the word 'comparison' in your comment. They chose Lana for a reason and I think she delivered what they needed. They just wanted something dark and brooding to match the mood of the movie. This isn't the story of Aurora, this is the story of a villain and you can't expect everything to line up perfectly, especially the music.
Miss Reytona Apparently Angelina Jolie chose her specifically for it. I didn't know that she was that involved in the movies production. I agree. It is inappropriate to compare the two.
This song keeps on getting stuck in my head. This is one of those songs that lives in your head rent free for a while after hearing it and just stays in the back of your mind afterwards.
I absolutely LOVE this song. I used to make my daughter dance around the living room with me to this song when she was small. She will be 40 next year, and I STILL love it!
Actually the music is not from Disney. The music is from Tschaikowski. The song is from the ballet "The Sleeping Beauty" whose music is from Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowski, it premiered 1890 and the title of the song is "The Garland Waltz". I've seen this ballet as a child before I've even seen the Disney movie. I cannot really say that I'm a big fan of ballet, my grandma took me there, but this production was quite a spectacle (great stage sets, lightning effects and up to 30 dancers at once on stage; it left an impression on me as a child).
Ever since I was a little girl I have been singing and dancing to this song, now that I'm almost 17 I still do it's fun, Disney has given me so many wonderful memories, that I hope to share with my children someday
I have to say this is probably my fave of the classic Disney fairytales. Mostly cause Prince Phillip is my fave Disney Prince.
