Cayenne yellow, Cayenne white, Cayenne red. The spicy power rangers.

Mexicans say the most craziest spice i use is blended carolina reapers with extra seeds
I stand behind the Indian Lady who could not identify Curry powder as a spice, because IT ISN'T ONE! Its a spice blend! Every household in India has a different blend. Some don't even create a blend, they keep individual spices and blend them fresh as per the requirement of the dish being prepared. SO don't worry, lady, you are good! You were not supposed to identify that one.
same I agree, it's definitely different from what she mixes and blends at home
Slight difference but there are always main ingredients in curry mix
Not even just that - actual curry mixtures sold in India are completely different from anything you get here (Europe in my case). None of the Indians I know can stand the "curry" powders sold here and some even refuse to call them such xD My girlfriend and I agree, the mixes we brought home from India make actual curries. Curry powder sold here can only go on fries or Currywurst if you're in Germany.
@@givememore4free Nope. If you go to a supermarket in India, you will never find a pack of "curry powder". Instead you will have blends which specify what dish its recommended for. For example: Chole masala (masala = spice blend), Pav bhaji masala, Mutton masala, Pani Puri masala, Biryani masala, and so on and so forth, each tasting wildly diffferent. Even within each blend,, you will have a different ingredients list by different brands. Your version of "curry powder" is mostly only found outside of India, which is a copy of a copy of a copy of what Indians actually use. The closest an Indian store will carry to "curry powder" is Garam Masala.
The same could be said for the chili powder as mixes will be different. I've found that curry powders (and chili) powder do have enough commonality that someone familiar with them should recognize it as being curry or chili.
Of course the Indian lady didn’t identify the curry powder. Indians don’t tend to use curry powder because we use the spices in different proportions for different curries and don’t use the same blend of powder for every dish.
Yeah, it's very much a British colonial invention. Why take the time to add all the different spices at the right times and in the right proportions when you can just chuck in some curry powder? :)
@@MCDexX eh because for different vegetables and meat different proportions of spices are required. So instead of that pre measured spices we tend to measure our own spices, its kind of like you people only eat curry on particular days but we people eat food with spices everyday. So if we don't play around with it, that's like eating the same version of curry everyday.
@@kiranmaji9395 - Sorry, you misunderstood. I am very much a "mix your own blend of spices for the occasion" kind of guy. The one-size-fits-all British curry powder is clumsy and gross.
@@MCDexX oh sorry for the bother then.
I learned about how curry powder is when i watched black butler(any fans out there)?

Racist
Nano Shinonome look up the meaning of the word and stop using it wrong thank you
Nicolaus Volentius correct that would be prejudice. Now go figure out what racist means before you take two Ls
“the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.”
Seems to fit the bill.

He's my fav level 1 chef
But he is dead wrong. It turmeric which stains ur hands, clothes counter tops etc not the "Curry powder". And curry powder is not even a thing in india. I came to know that there is something called Curry powder when I moved to America.

LOL! I saw a "white guy things" sort of video recently. One of the scenes was a guy cooking some fish and he's like, "I'm going to season this salmon with salt and pep--- oh wait, do you _want_ it spicy?"
😂😂😂
Racist
Nano Shinonome no it isn't.
@@NanoGamingGamer How is it racist if it actually happened?
Curry powder doesn't count. I was already thinking why there was turmeric 2 times.
curry isn't a spice, curry is a spice blend.
I guessed curry powder or a very fresh corriander powder but im wearing tinted glasses right now
Same for chilli powder though
I thought it was mustard powder. That one was the only one I got wrong and cumin was the only one I didn't have a clue on.
Neither is the chili powder. It's a blend. They just wanted to see if they could guess the basic flavor profiles.
I agree, it’s not like you make it with spice....
2:57 No that's Cheesecake Powder...
😂😂
Kfc should be hiring the noobs. They will never guess the secret spices even if they had to mix it with the chicken every day. 😂
*smells garlic powder * “salt?”
Girl HUH
Pretty sure she actually tasted that.
1:05 - Yes, cumin totally does smell like body odor. But in a necessary way.
I always thought it smelled like cheap tacos. It's the basic funk smell under the meat. Totally gross, but for some reason it tastes good. Definitely one of those 'less is more' spices.
@@Ilostmypick It's an essential spice in many types of Mexican cuisine, up there with chiles and oregano (which is an herb since it's from the leaf, but we'll count it). It's definitely highly present in ground beef tacos (probably what you mean by cheap), but it's also pretty common in many carnitas and tacos al pastor recipes. Carnitas, pastor and lengua are my favorite taco fillings, so that's like 2 out of 3. American style chili is not American style chili if cumin is not a predominant flavor. And it's common in many Indian dishes as well.
That's a lot of passport stamps for an ingredient believed to have originated in the Mediterranean.
I used to think white pepper was one of the worst things I'd ever smelled. Somewhere between bad breath and a well-populated horse stable. But once I started learning to identify it in some of my favorite foods, including many Chinese dishes and some fried chicken recipes, I found even the smell of the ingredient by itself kind of appetizing.
@Nicolaus Volentius So, do oranges smell like armpits to you? I've heard people say it smells like citrus before and I just do not get it.
weirdest coke party I've watched
Not really a surprise to me that the Indian-looking woman didn't figure out the curry powder since it's basically a British invention.
@Sturgeon no one uses pre made curry powder. We mix different spices in different ratios by ourselves.
Baurax just as I’m sure I wouldn’t get “taco seasoning” as white people call it, as a Mexican because there is no such thing
@@bambi7563 Here in Germany we got an incredible thing called "China" spice...
Baurax oh that’s probably 5 spice, which is an actual thing in China although plenty of Chinese people don’t use it, it’s made out of 5-7 spices that are typical in most Chinese foods, but it’s similar with the Indian curry powder where most actual Chinese people will instead just buy the spices separately to make it to their own liking.
That’s right we Indians do NOT use curry POWDER cause WE MAKE IT FROM SCRATCH!!!
Love how Stephen accurately identified curry powder based on how it stained his hands. Classic Stephen.

"tastes like dirt"
- guy with the cap
Oregano and sage are herbs not spices! Herbs are leaves and stems; spices are every other part of the plant!
Leaves also counts as spices dude don't know about stem though
@@TheDeathLove Herbs by definition is any part of the plant that doesn't produce a woody texture, so leaves, flowers, and stems, so long as they aren't tough, woody, and covered in bark, are all herbs, with the one exception to the woody rule being rosemary, though that's probably because no one uses individual leaves when they use rosemary. They just leave it on the stem. Even the curry leaf is an herb. Spices are barks, seeds, pods, roots, and whatever else isn't covered by herbs.
Tales of interest!
Well some leaves are considered spices like bay leaves, they add a different smell and taste to a food, which is a very important point for spices
@@TheDeathLove Nah man, bay is an herb (threw me for a loop for a little bit because I never heard of a "nay leaf", took me a little bit to figure out you meant bay) I have never heard it be called a spice

I think he had to wear the apron...because honestly, you don't really want a naked dude in your video.
where do they find these specimens.
"Im very worried that it's spicy... (tastes the spice) tomato?"
Her fear just gone silently 😂 followed by confuse
That man just called paprika cilantro... excuse me.
@Minnie Marie thanks! :)
I'm not even smelling them or touching them and I managed to get more than half correct. The last one was kind of a cheat, though. Curry powder is technically a spice mix which contains a lot of turmeric (which makes it look like the turmeric powder). I was hoping the producers would pick more single spices like allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.
0:05 she testing spices or cocaine?
Is it weird I knew every spice based on color?
I could get pretty close by looking at the color, but I wouldn't know for sure until I could smell them lol
No
I could somehow tell also, but I double guessed on the ones with similar color like the turmeric and curry powder. Paprika and cayenne powder also have similar colors.
I could tell 3/6 of them.
dodoxpizza no. It means you can cook and season your food

He's not naked...do you know what naked means? He has an apron on.
Every video he is in, he's at the very least competent at whatever the task is, and wearing that apron, potentially nothing else. I have so many questions.

Also Epicurious people, there is NO SPICE called the Curry Powder!! Indian food doesn’t use “Curry Powder”... We got something called Garam Masala which is similar to 5 spices blend but it’s not the same and definitely not a Spice.
Garam masala is not spicy, curry powder is a yellow spice blend that has chilli in it. Im not sure if it is considered Indian because I've eaten some asian dishes with a similar taste.
Lol Gabrielle 😂
3:26 Safferon isn’t brown lmao nor would they give you that much with how much it costs....most expensive thing in the world sold by weight fun fact

4:50 fighting stereotypes! : )
Na it's cus curry isn't an actual spice
Or used in actual Indian cooking
salt is a spice... oh my white, as the salt itself. I am proud that I have all of these spices in my spice cabinet with garlic powder being the latest addition, since I usually use fresh garlic, but garlic powder is definitely nice for certain dishes. I just had my turmeric fried chicken with rice and soy sauce. Like the best simple asian meal on can eat.
talking about last addition, it took me 26 years to discover cumin.. now I put on everything
"The spice girls..."
Oh my.... She got me, she got me good
hahaha I tried my best 😂
The fact that I recognise almost all of these just by looking at them when I don't even cook tells me I watch way too many cooking shows
Garlic Powder isn’t a spice. Fight me.
I agree. And it doesn't even taste good. I just add some finely chopped garlic to my dishes or make some ginger-garlic paste in the blender. That just gives the food a much better flavour.
I agree.
But only if you agree that curry isn't a spice.
@@tychowozniaki9269 You`re right it should be called a spice mix rather than a singular spice.
what`s your reasoning, to begin with?
Personally I would agree that salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are not spices, but apparently any dried part of a plant that isn't leaves, flower, or stems (depending on how woody it is) are herbs and the rest are spices.
As a South Asian, I was able to identify most of these from the visual alone :')
Imaad Majeed woww I’m asian too but the craziest spice that i’ll go is salt hahahah
Same, Mexican American.
same. american
As someone who speaks German, I always found it funny that 'Paprika' only refers to the ground up spice in English alone. 'Paprika' in German just means the vegetable with that flavor, so the pepper bell 😂
IAmThe UsualGuy same with salt
In Hungarian, both the vegetable and the dried, ground version of it is called paprika.
What I find the worst is that the spice they call pepper in English does not come from the vegetable they call pepper. (they might be related in some way, but it`s like they are second cousins or something) Don`t they find it confusing? At least in French they have different word for each of these things, so that`s better.
@@csillakaszas7285 "Pepper" is the spice, "Green/Red/Yellow Pepper" is the vegetable. edit: yeah it's confusing in abstract, but in practice it feels very intuitive. I've not once been unclear on which pepper someone meant.

That was fun! I'm no cook, but I cook enough to have recognized at least 3 of them from sight alone! **pats self on back...awkwardly**

"That's garlic"
"That's garlic, I said it first"
Me: They are siblings ,100%.
You know what I won’t blame them here cause basic people only know pepper and salt as seasoning and these bunch are basic af.
I was able to identify them through my cell phone screen. Shouldn’t be too hard to place such basic spices and blends that are used in everyday American cooking.
I'm honestly surprised at what some people got based on what I've seen them do in the past

Paprika and garlic powder maybe, but turmeric, cuman, and curry powder are not used in everyday American cooking.

He means Tex-Mex as I doubt he would be considering mole
My mom's from Mexico and uses cumin in some Mexican dishes. What are you getting at? I'm confused.
They do use cumin a lot
Got turmeric, cumin, curry powder, and paprika right.
I guess my brown is showing lol
I also use all of those in everything I cook. Literally EVERYTHING!
The curry powder I bought is usually dark orange like the paprika spice colour because it contains chilli powder as well. There's also different type of curry blends for different meats. :)
I fell in love when the girl said 'sumak'

*hubris alert* I identified at least three of them by sight
“Oh well look at that”💀😂😂
I swear that lady in glasses and orange shirt knows everything and I mean EVERYTHING
I mean these were pretty basic. What would be hard is guessing herbs like tarragon or coriander or even thyme.
They aren't spices, they are herbs.
Now see, I'm the opposite. I could take a rough guess at the spices (but with just visuals, it was hard to tell if the curry blend was mustard or not). But I know my herbs inside and out. Tarragon and thyme would be so easy to differentiate even on visuals for me (leaves are completely different).
I got all of them right, except for the paprika... just from sight alone. ^_^
Not used to seeing other paprika powders besides smoked.
