You are very welcome Annie. I feel it doesn't do your soul good to keep secrets... by giving everything you open up more to new insights from the universal energy which drives us. Thanks for watching... much appreciated 💕🙏
You are so welcome MT! thank you for your wonderful feedback... all the very best with your Grandson's portrait. Thrilled you found the video helpful. 💕🙏
That’s super helpful Dave thank you, I’m just starting out with pastels 🥴. You’ve produced a photo realism style on the right but the one on the left still has its merits of being a nice impressionist style I’d say☺️
One of the few tutorials I see use Caran D'ache pencils. I have the Faber Castell pastel pencils and have avoided the Caran D'ache because they don't seem to be as popular or have as good of reviews. But watching you here I can see how they have real value in skin tone. I am not surprised, my Caran D'ache Luminance are my favorite skin tone colored pencils.
Hi KR... thanks for the message. My next RUclips video will be 3 brands 3 reviews on how they are used for skin tone. I am reviewing three different studies of the same image... CarbOthello v Pit Pencils v Caran d'Ache... it is my same technique... I explain the change of application for each brand... so be sure to keep an eye out for it... hopefully will be on end of this week. 💕🙏
@@DavePortersArt I will definitely be looking for it, I have CarbOthello and the Pitt Pencils and many pan pastels (about 40 in all with all the basics). I am moving into more fur and skin tone portrait projects so I can not wait to see this ;)
Thank you... Thrilled you are learning a lot from my videos.... this is my own technique developed form how I do Oil painting. All the very best... thanks for watching my videos. 😊🙏
Learning so much from you Dave. Do you know if there is a cheaper equivalent to the Clairefontaine Pastelmat? Just getting to grips with colour and would feel a little pressured using such expensive paper.

You highlight such things which plenty of artists keep in secret or just don't explain so pedantic, thank you!! 🙏

It's a joy to watch you at work, Dave.
Do you think you could explain the glaze and tint part sometime? I'm not 100% clear on the process.
Pleased you are enjoying watching my videos. Will add that to my list of videos to do thanks for the input... appreciated 💕🙏
It looks like a photo. I learn a lot of your videos. Now I know how to built up the colours. Have you learn it by yourself or did you have lessons?

That's great to know Wayne... thanks for watching. To be able to do my technique you would need any sanded paper or board. All the very best 👍
Thank you, this is very helpful for a beginner. Can you explain for me what you mean by chroma? Thank you.
You are welcome... thanks for the great feedback Audrey... Chroma means how much a colour glows. All the very best! 💕🙏
👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 😍 😍 😍 😍😍 😍💗 💗💗💗 💗
💕🙏 thank you so much!
Is there a way to “fix” the don’t side?
Best to take the excess pastel off by dabbing with a Faber Castel Kneadable Eraser. Then add less over the colour🙏
😊🙏👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much Kouassi! 💕🙏
Even the "don't" side doesn't look that bad! It's impossible for you to do a poor painting.
😊 you are very kind Elizabeth... thank you so much for watching the video 💕🙏
