    Hello, I'm so glad your videos showed up on my RUclips. Also I was very surprised to find out you live in Calgary, same as me. Although I have no plans for soap making your videos are interesting. I plan to start making wax melts for myself and wasn't thrilled about choosing scents from online so I'm very glad you introduced me to windy point soap supplies. I think I will be making a trip over there soon. So thank-you

    With liquid dye you have more control and consistency of the color of the candles especially for mass production

  • @maryspringer9538
    @maryspringer9538 Год назад +1

    I use both solid and liquid dyes, both are great just depends on price and how much you use it. Be careful with liquid dyes you literally only need a tiny bit. I usually use a toothpick or small dropper. If you try. To dispense it into your pot you will have way too much! The liquid dyes last forever even the smallest bottles. I usually buy the liquid dyes in the colors I use the most . Solid for all others as they are so cheap. Usually a dollar at my local candle supply company here in United States..Aztec Candle Supply. It's so nice to save on shipping when you can go pick it up isn't it? Wax alone saves me 100.00 by picking it up as I buy it by the box which is 112.00 (50lb box) shipping is almost as much due to the weight! Have fun! Your dogs are so adorable 🤩

    I am a small candle business owner! I don't use that brand, and I have never used liquid dye, I have no experience with that personally. But something I've learned through trial and error with the solid dyes is that they can take forever to melt if you add them in with the rest of the wax! I put the color in first, and then I add my wax after the dye is liquid itself. I'm not sure what it is about it but the melting point seems to be higher than the wax and melting it first helps a lot! Another thing I have noticed is that if I get a color I like- I always add more. The color lightens pretty significantly as the wax solidifies and sets! I would recommend doing a very small wax melt test batch with color to gauge how much it fades. Also, for reference I use exclusively soy wax, and I'm not sure if this translates to all wax or not. Much love to you and all your videos, I might not be a soap maker but the advice you give translates a lot into candle business

    • @maryspringer9538
      @maryspringer9538 Год назад

      Yes I agree the color always lightens .test it out first by dropping a bit on white paper or wax paper so you know what color it actually is.

    Hi, since you have a mushroom phase: I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but you can actually make cold process soap with mushrooms, they have some great skin properties. Mushrooms & goat milk is an even more beneficial combo! If I am not mistaken, the nerdy farm wife has a recipe for a cold process mushroom soap on her website (I think with shiitake). Definitely worth checking out!
    Edit: the suppliers are all sold out because everyone is watching your channel and making beauty products at home 😂

    Erica if you “ blast”your baking soda the colors are more vibrant and pop up a lot. I am not sure if that is the right term, but basically I always add like a tbsp of water to my baking soda first . If you want to color your bath bomb since this are one color basically you can dissolve the color into your water portion and then add the rest of your ingredients. I hope you understand . Just came from my walk as well. It’s cold today in AZ

    I use solid blocks of candle dye depending on the color starting with a small piece and then gradually adding more. Use an old metal spoon to take some of the wax out and put it on paper when it dries that is how you will know your finished color.

    Fun fact: cremini mushrooms are baby portabella mushrooms 🤗
    Block dye is more user-friendly and you can slowly melt in the amount you want for your desired color. I recommend weighing it out on a very sensitive gram scale if you want to consistently achieve the same shade. Liquid dye is VERY potent and a drop will literally take you from dark purple to black. I recommend using a very small pipette and again weighing if possible to achieve similar colors each time. If you use the dropper the bottle comes with its way too easy to accidentally add way more than you wanted. 🤗

    Mushroom and leek lasagna is easy to make and very tasty if your looking for a mushroom dish to make. In the state I live in Australia we don't have a candle or soap supply store, I really wish I could go shopping in and smelling fragrances before I buy them, your so lucky you live near a supple store like Windy Point. You always look so beautiful makeup on or off. Stay safe to you and Kale and 4 legged babies.

    Liquid dyes are easier to work with, for me, in plant waxes because they evenly distribute and have left frosting (I think I remember you use mostly soy) - buuuuut the dyes get messy !! But I like that you can get paraffin free dye blocks
