"I think it’s the same person" is a reference to a wrestling inside joke. According to Rami Sebei (the real name of Sami Zayn/El Generico), the official lore is that El Generico "retired" to work for an orphanage in his "home country" of Mexico and Sami Zayn is a _completely different person_ who was "trained" by Generico. The details change every so often, such as Zayn growing up in Generico's orphanage, Generico dying on the way back to Mexico, etc. but the one trait that stays the same is that Generico and Zayn are _completely different people and not the same person._ And everyone who watches wrestling as closely as Super Eyepatch Wolf and myself is in on the -joke- _completely real relationship between El Generico and Sami Zayn._

The moment the Bloodline turn on Sami and the "F*ck you Roman" chants are what every heel wrestler should strive for, that moment wasn't cheap heat or piped noice, is was the genuine investment of people in a story, the genuine reaction of the crowd.

A few important notes (parallels, info, updates)
    1) Rock went through the same issues Roman did. His dad and grandfather were wrestlers, so the company names him Rocky Maivia after both of their wrestler names. He was told to be smiley and happy. A true babyface. The crowd rew ted terribly and would chant DIE ROCKY DIE. On enight, when he was close to be let go, Dwayne Johnson (Rock) asked tl turn heel and tell off the crowd. He went off on the crowd, found his character, and became beloved. A legend.
Roman, Rocks cousin, had the same exact story. Just over a longer span.
    2) You misinterpreted part of the Tribal Chief gimmick. When he said "only he could do what needs to be done" it was talking about enduring the crowd. That nobody else could endure the cruelty of the crowd, even after recovering from cancer, like he did. By enduring so much, Roman thinks of himself as being better than anyone else. A martyr.
    3) Update on Sami. Sami won the tag belts that year from the USOs (with his buddy Kevin Owens). Sami then did some other stuff and became the Intercontinental Champion this year (the middle title). Sami funnily achieving his dream by cutting off another wrestler that was coming up and causinf THAT guys heel turn.
    4) A smaller wrestler named Chad Gable had a similar history to Sami. He was a literal olympian representing the US in actual wrestling. He got signed to wwe and was treated like a joke. He was in a tag team and everyone in management obsessed over his partner. They plmade Gable solo and used him as a joke guy. A gimmick where he was called "shorty g" and he was supposed to be the short guy who sometimes won and was supposed to be inspirational. Gable bounced back eventually with the gimmick of a serious sports coach who built up other losers. He had a feud for almost a year with this big Austrian monster leading an evil group of Germans and Italians (I know...) and he was just known as 'GUNTER'(in a caps). GUNTER beat Gable on multiple ppvs with Gable always getting close. They even used Gables family a few times to make the losses hit more. Gable saying he was doing it for his kid and that he wanted to celebrate with them. Then Sami gets a last minute big match with GUNTER, by beating Gable and taking his 'last chance away.' Fans were upset about this at first, but came around to support Sami again. Gable trains Sami and Sami is the first guy in over a year to beat GUNTER. Sami had his wife and kid there to celebrate, just like Gable had tried to do a few mo ths earlier. Sami gives Gable a match for that title the next week as a thank you. Sami wins. His wife is there again. Sami hugs Gable and then hugs his wife. Gable sneaks up behind and grabs/assaults Sami WHILE Sami is hugging his wife. And now Gable is the dark rejected heel. A cross between Roman and Sami - that Sami helped create.
    5) Roman kept his factuon with Jey uso leaving. Stayed strong for another year until he lost the belt to Cody Rhodes. The Bloodline cheated and cost Rhodes a win a year before at WWEs biggest ppv. Their superbowl (wrestlemania). Cody had a big arc spanning a decade and multiple companies. His dad was a legend. Not going to recap all that. But Rock came back this year and basically took over the Bloodline while SAYING he supported/followed Roman. Bloodline and Rock went to cost Cody again at another Wrestlemania and Cody got help from Jey Uso, John Cena, and the Undertaker. Cody beat Roman and ended his over 3 year championship reign.
Roman disappeared after losing. Rock left. Bloodline stuck around. Just solo sikoa and jimmy uso. Solo Sikoa took up the te.porary leader role, attacked his brother Jimmy Uso for losi g his wrestlemania match, and brough in two replacement members (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa - Tongan wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling whose dad was the tag team partner of the Uso's dad). This New Bloodline has no Usos. No Roman. The prediction everyone has is that Roman and the Usoa will come back as the heros facing this new/vicious/more serious bloodline rhat Solo and the Rock are running.

Sami didn't go away. In fact, he teamed up with Kevin to beat the Usos for the tag team championships at last years' Wrestlemania. Roman's on a bit of a vacation after this year's Wrestlemania, which was a crazy story as well. I'd be surprised if Super Eyepatch Wolf doesn't make a video about the road to Roman's Wrestlemania 40 match eventually.
Also, small note about this 50:15. The hand isn't to stop him from extending, he's slapping his thigh to create the sound of impact.

Not being sure if El Generico and Sami Zayn are the same person is just a meme. Everyone knows they are, but because of the mask it’s fun to play along with the idea that they aren’t. Steen actually played into the idea saying that Generico went back to Mexico to work in an orphanage and died saving orphans from a fire.

A fun detail secret I patch Wolf didn't point out when Sammy hits rowing with the chair. It's the exact way that Seth did it. When the shield broke up and Roman falls the exact same way. As I've seen someone else point out, Sammy didn't break Roman's body He broke roman's heart.

I actually got back into watching WWE back when Vince initially left in July 2022 (Most of the Sami-Bloodline stuff came after that, while the initial comedy part of it was prior to Vince leaving).
Seeing Triple H take over Creative was enough to get me back after I stopped properly watching in the mid-late 2010s. The Bloodline story and the White Rabbit Project WWE did that led to the return of the Late Bray Wyatt (pretty much my favourite wrestler due to me heavily relating to him creatively) got me hooked.

One way to describe the entire Bloodline story is CINEMA. Roman's title reign actually just ended this year at Mania 40. The entire reign lasted over 3 and a half years and is the 4th longest world title reign in WWE.
Mania 39 and Mania 40 in regards to Roman's title reign was heavily compared to Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame (even down to the colour scheme). The last several minutes of Roman's title reign was just pure catharsis.

I've heard Reigns's theme, Head of the Table, and it's really good.
It's a final boss choir track with some hip hop beats mixed in.
El Generico retired from pro wrestling and went back to Mexico to _totally_ take care of the orphans, and Sami Zayn coincidentally just uses the same moveset as the former.

"Would they risk The Rock in this kind of set up?"
You need to react to Cody Rhodes' story after this for the full context, but the short answer is that the Rock was all for the Bloodline and this direction for Roman. He even got involved as a heel alongside Roman. And since he's irl one of the major shareholders of WWE's parent company, he can get away with a lot more, and allow others to get away with a lot more than most others would be able to without sponsors and the like getting in the way. Like swearing, or beating a superstar bloody on camera for the first time it's been done in over a decade, just to name a few examples.
So yeah, the course of the quality in WWE is looking up more than it has been in a long long time.

  • @VeggieGamer

Haha, this was great, dude!! Glad you appreciated the Tribal Chief character!
Fun fact! - I am one of the pixels on the second level at 16:46 ! The music that starts there is also his new heel theme music! No joke, his entrance at Clash of the Castle was my highlight of 2022! XD I was the only person in my section cheering for him!
Sami joining was a master stroke, because at this point, The Bloodline were getting cheered just because of how awesome they were, so having the 'golden retreiver' join and tease it all going wrong brought them right back into the hated heels category. The 2023 Royal Rumble (when this video ends) genuinely felt like a HUGE moment in wrestling. Don't worry, Sami is still doing great in the WWE! Oh, also, there is NO way WWE would have plants to try and get the audience to swear (they often mute the audience for swearing), so it was a completely genuine reaction to the Bloodline's actions.
Oh! Btw, the hand on the thigh when superkicking is actually to make a loud slapping noise on the impact. It is really affective when there is audio. Either way, great reaction! Was really looking forward to this as Reign's heel run has been an amazing distraction the last few years, and is the reason WWE are seeing a boom period after a very long drought.

For an older wrestling fan who no longer watches the weekly shows but still hears what's going on through friends and pop culture, this video was such an amazing gift.
I understand that there's a lot of "playing fast and loose" with the specific events depicted here. SEW will reveal key details when it's most beneficial to the story he's telling. I've been told the depiction Roman's absence and return, and Kevin Owen's conspicuous absence till the end, are particularly "off" to the people who were watching this as it happened.
And I don't care at all. This story, as SEW told it, is better than any movie I've seen in the past year.

Whats awesome about this whole bloodline story, almost a year after the Sami Saga ended its STILL going.
Also it wasnt shown in the video but Kevin Steen/Owens came to wwe not long after Sami did and has done pretty well for himself, he has a clean win over John Cena, has multiple title wins including the world title The WWE Management trusted him enough to bring Stone Cold Steve Austin out of retirement (had to retire due to risk of Paralysis from neck issues) and have a match with him after him not having one in 20+ years.
If theres a video out there I highly recommend you look into the Kevin and Sami rise up through the indies, such an awesome journey those two have been on together and both have had awesome careers so far!

Yes. It's more common than you'd expect, and actually is related to one of the most notorious moments of a person getting a real injury during a match in the company's history, iirc. Basically, someone landed wrong and genuinely broke their neck.

As a nice epilogue to this story, the last ten months since Super Eyepatch wolf did this video have been wild to say the least. Without spoilers, the Bloodline story came to a head over the past two Wrestlemanias and culminated just this past April. And yes, your prediction about The Rock? Oh. Yes. They did risk having him get involved in it, adding now just wrinkles to the story but insane layers too (especially considering the well-publicised real life crimes of Vince McMahon), as WWE has legit been sold and merged into a new company with the UFC. After the allegations about Vince came out, The Rock stepped in as a new CEO of that holding company and inserted himself into the story. Just incredible!! But I'm hoping all of this has ignited enough curiosity that perhaps you'll give watching the product itself a go if you want to see how it ends.
As for the behind the scenes management info you've desperately craved across all of these wrestling videos, there are plenty of documentaries, podcasts and tv shows which delve into almost all aspects of the backstage of the wrestling biz. It's a rabbit hole which only ever gets deeper!!

I don't know why, but when Roman slammed his palm against Sami's face, it just felt more disrespectful and emotionally painful than slaps. There's just something so... wrong about it...
50:15 Also, the hand is to help with limiting Jimmy's leg from extending too far, but also, if you watch it at normal speed, he's actually slapping his leg to make a "hit" sound.
It's something quite common in wrestling. Because that kick at Sami's head is not powerful, it's not going to be loud. So just, plap, a slap to add sound so the hit looks like it's carrying more power than it really is.

The thing that changed to let Sami do the Bloodline storyline is pretty simple. The man you don't want to name had to step back from creative and Triple H, who was in creative control of NXT (which Fans loved) got creative control of WWE creative overall. And Fans love Triple Hs style of creative management. Triple H resonated with the Fans. The man who you don't want to name has control issues. He thinks he knows what's right or wrong better than the Fans, while Triple H is willing to listen to the Fans and the WWE Locker Room. He doesn't think he knows best and is willing to take in ideas and tries running with it. In an interview he said that he likes to say yes and see if it works most of the time to see what works and what does not. He is more willing to pivot than the one not to be named and that is crucial, while at the same time looking at the bigger picture. Where does he want it to go in 6 month, a year and how do we get there. Can we use what the Fans like to get there and how can we do that. Triple H is doing great Longterm storytelling, while the one who ius not to be named just abandoned stories that did not work. Triple H doesn't abandon them. He adjusts and is good at that.

WrestleMania 40 was really good. The Rock came back as a part-timer and has the moniker The Final Boss. Both nights of Mania he was in the main event. For weeks they had been playing up The Rock harassing and attacking Cody Rhodes(the younger son of WWE Hall of Famer dusty Rhodes) leading up to Mania.
After Roman lost the title on the second night of Mania to Rhodes, he hasn't been seen. People have been speculating on what's happening with Reigns and the Bloodline. A lot of people are saying that Roman is following his cousin into Hollywood to start making movies. A lot of people are speculating that there's going to be a Bloodline civil war where Rock and Reigns are going to be going head-to-head for control of the Bloodline. But all we can do is speculate until Roman returns.
Currently Solo Sikoa has been on this insane rampage, both Uso brothers are now out, the Tonga brothers have joined(the sons of Haku, a former WWE wrestler who is also Samoan) and Paul Heyman stands around looking flabbergasted and powerless as the Bloodline is going full rampage mode on everybody. It feels like the Bloodline has transitioned from mafia movie to gangland movie.

This man at one point had The Ultimo Dragon, an international superstar known in both Japan and Mexico who's held so many titles there's a picture of him wreathed in titles...
And Vince mad him a mid-carder to help make some of the talent he wanted to push, and even got the man real-life injured because he had him put with an unsafe wrestler who was inexperienced.
And that's the least of how he's squandered talen because they weren't built like Jack Hanma.

Since Roman lost after a 1300+ days reign against Cody Rhodes, the Bloodline story continues as the remaigning members are kicking eachother out, trying to become the new tribal chief. One of the best story lines in WWE.

Okay, you asking if anyone has climbed the cage before, i feel safe suggesting this: you need to watch the video on undertaker and mankind's hell in a cell match at King of the Ring. It's a 25-minute documentary retelling from all of the people involved, both of the wrestlers, the referees, and the guys backstage. If you want to see just how real "fake" wrestling can get, that's about the best thing you could watch.

The Rock did get involved. It started with him going after roman but fans didnt want that so he joined roman as the final boss and he went full villain

Idk if theres a good video about it, but yes, the rock is now involved in the bloodline, and it has been extremely entertaining and interesting. There is a meta narrative about the Rock now actually being on the board of WWE for real, so he is having a kayfabe and possibly real feud with the head of creative (the guy who makes the storylines), and he will likely feud with a babyface Roman too.

I would recommend a video about the CM Punk vs MJF feud called "better than you", it has 3 million views. Its very much in the similar vein in terms of integrating reality. Basically the story of a hero unintentionally turning a fan into their biggest villain.

You’ve gotta check out OSW Review. They review wrestling pay-per-views (from the Golden Era, the 80s, to present day ppvs) and give context to how matches were planned and the aftermath of each show. Their commentary is really funny, but you get a lot of insight of behind the scenes if you’re new to wrestling.

If you’re interested in more wrestling stories I highly recommend Outside Interference on RUclips and his The Good, the Bad and the Elite series and his Better Than You video. They’re not in Eyepatch Wolf’s style. Instead they simply play the relevant clips from the TV shows with some editing and some background music. You can get months or years worth of storylines in about 2 hours.

41:52 it's definitely because Triple H became head of creative at the time, and I think Vince was on his way out, cause there is no way Vince would've let Sami Zayn get this push, cause he hates making the fans happy

Samy Zayn just have beaten the longest reigning "big evil" Intercontinental champion Gunther for the title so he is not only sticking around but he is an upper midcard, beloved by everyone and IS the current Intercontinental champ. :)
Thank goodness Vince isn't in charge,he gave us the greatest moments in the 80s and 90s but also the worst era of wrestling ever (the PG era).

  • @THENAMEISQUICKMAN

Essentially Sami Zayn is like what would've happened in Persona 5 if Mishima ended up part of the main group. This genuine goofball loser trying so hard to be involved in some kind of cool kids club, probably really just out of a pure desire for someone to accept him, when it's clear that nobody really wants him there. And you're right that this storyline would've never worked in the past in WWE. WWE, from the 80s, through the Attitude Era, to the first Roman era, was *not* known for caring about deeper storylines that other more niche wrestling companies would be willing to tell like New Japan Pro Wrestling. WWE has always had this fear that if they demand their audience think deeper about something than the surface level, it won't work. They're too big and mainstream for that, that'd be like a Michael Bay movie having a Stephen King written storyline. And for the most part, that is still true. The Bloodline story has been the one real big example ever seen in the history of WWE.

I really hope he makes a new video cause even after the betrayal you still had this trailing storyline of Seth and Cody first enemies but now confidants. Cody went through hell on earth to write the closing chapter of his big time AAA video game like story getting fucked over by Brock Lesnar who he thought be a great guy to help him turns out to use him but still respected him after the match. Jey Uso leaving the family and tagging with Cody and holding tag teams championships together until The Judgement Day try to bully everyone at the end of the day this goes on for a while until War Games a steel caged like figure with 5 members of each team weeks ago Cody is trying to convince Randy Orton to return from a neck injury as his former partner Matt Riddle was Released from the company in the time of his absence. Seth had a fued with Seth that he made fun of his abandoning of his family (Slight Kayfabe IRL he dates adult actresses and has a bad relationship with weed and acahol) but anyway The match happens and they win but as soon as the night is coming to a close CM Punk Returns a person who walked out of another company due to a altercation with another talent was waving down the person who went on numerous interviews about not liking him so much (even though it was kayfabe doing f bombs and middle fingers) This fued doesn’t last long as Punk would be injured in the rumble but Cody is still determined to finish the story and win the big one so he conquered it all becoming a 2 time rumble winner but oh what’s that Seth is trying to convince him to cash in on him but Cody is thinking it over and one random week in Colorado Mr Rock is in town for a Football Game and is looking for some trouble and drops Should I sit at the head of the table causing everyone to panic and I’ll just save it there 😂❤
