I heard its really good for somatic tinnitus but not much for trauma. But Big Bro Ben is covering just about every remedy on tinnitus from a professional standpoint he really cares.

For me it has provided a reduction, it certainly helps with stress. I find it very helpful for many things, muscle relaxation, improved sinus function, and it help with left over energies from all the work I have done. We are all different, sometimes a little of A, a bit of B, and a dash of C does the trick. Still waiting for my magic combo, but I am getting better. Wishing you all silence.

Dr. Ben, you should do a video warning tinnitus sufferers about the dangers of Lysinopril. My tinnitus was made much worse by taking this drug (obviously on my doctor's advice) for a period of one year. The doctor obviously never even looked at my chart or he'd have seen "bilateral tinnitus" noted. I found out later that Lysinopril is one of the most ototoxic substances you can take. There are plenty of other blood pressure medications you can take that don't degrade your hearing. I had so many flare ups and spikes while taking Lysinopril and when I finally stopped it took four days for my tinnitus to return to it's normal "baseline." I now use meditation and a low-sodium diet to control my blood pressure and I'm very cautious about any prescription drugs I'm given.

Hey Ken, I'm sorry that happened to you, thats pretty shitty. I'm glad you realized to be more cautious about taking drugs. I've learned and realized over the years that some doctors just should not be doctors. Just like ANY profession in the world, you are going to have a few that should not be there, but they are. Lots of doctors prescribe drugs willy-nilly, and situations like yours, and sometimes worse happen. Plus, big pharma is only there to make money, the more they keep us on drugs, the more money they make, how many billion did they make last year? A Ridiculous amount, money normal people we can't even fathom. I'm just glad you woke up. Meditation, and lifestyle changes, as you first hand know, can make a world of difference. We don't always need drugs. Yet they are always pushed on us. Take care.

I linked my tinnitus to use of a hair loss product, it was a compounded pharmacy mix of finasteride and minoxidil applied directly to head and rubbed in. After about a week of use I noticed the ringing on my ears, I didn’t realize it at first until a couple weeks later. So I quit taking it and after a couple days it started to decrease and eventually is almost gone. Hopefully this may help some one

Wow, is this exactly what I'm still going through. 3 years ago I tried acupuncture as one of my first treatments, didn't work. I was going through ALOT of family stress and went to full blown 24/7 tinnitus March, 2020. I still have it and like your example, some high-pitched hearing loss (minimal) otherwise good hearing. It got to the point I had to get my eustachian tubes inflated due to blockage in my right ear. That worked but the T remained. The fact that I'm still languishing in the habituation stages, still boggles me. I know I was very stressed and usually "worry" about everything, unfortunately. I've got tinnitus maskers that I used very infrequently only because they're a pain. When I started using them and took them out before bed, the "T" was there going gangbusters. So psychologically, they didn't appear to be helping. I've been on Prozac for the past 8 mos with decent results. I just wish I would have more days at a 1-2 vs a 5-6. Thanks for your podcasts and helpful tips!

I had acupuncture for my tinnitus and it did nothing for me. All that it did was leave sore spots afterwards that took a few weeks to go away. The only thing that has helped is time. It's now been about 6 months since I developed tinnitus and the only time it bothers me now is when I'm fatigued. Otherwise I don't hear it most of the time. I also used hearing aids for tinnitus, and that helped for a little while but eventually I didn't need them anymore. If I get a spike in my tinnitus, I just listen to podcasts of really anyone speaking or teaching and it seems to go right away. At night I just have my wife rub my ears and then use a cold pack on my head and I don't have a problem falling asleep.

I’ve read it can as it changes your focus on the noise. There are a few self hypnosis vids on YT and several on EFT/‘tapping’ for tinnitus which can help.

Great video, this is great advice, specially from a doctor. You are not stuck on one method, and you are accepting of acupuncture as a possible tool. Love your open mindedness here, Doc.
Refreshing to hear this kind of advice from a doctor. Accepting of your patients to try other methods. We need more doctors like you, and your mindset. Thanks!! But I agree, from what I've seen, acupuncture is definitely not the cure all for tinnitus. If it even does anything, I am going to try it because its covered under my insurance, so why not. Because the ringing in the ears is due to the damaged or lost hairs in the ears? How is acupuncture suppose to fix that? BUT, I'll give it a shot. I'm not at the point where I need to try any other interventions other than using fans in my house. I cannot be in a quiet room, I will want to kill myself. Recently I dropped a pan and the ringing got louder, its been about a week and the ringing has slightly gone down. I'm hoping it returns to baseline soon, if it will.
