What they should have gone with: 1) Cybran - cheaper to build, but less durable. So if you set up a T1 PGen/T1MassFab array, it will be cheaper than other factions, but a single bomber will cause a cascade explosion taking out the whole array. So very fast to expand, but also very past to prune. The T2 shield means they can get full protection without needing T3. 2) UEF - more expensive, but also more hit points/armor. The T1PGen/T1MassFab array will need each item to be destroyed instead of a single PGen being destroyed and the whole array detonates. Fairly easy to upgrade Shield generators from T2 to T3. 3) Aeon - the 'quality' faction, but the units are 'focused' and you have to replace items to improve them. So if you want to upgrade the Aeon shield generator from T2 to T3, you have to reclaim the T2 Shield Generator and build the T3 Shield Generator. So Aeon that have a chance to build up will be very durable, but they will take more time and cost more resources. Example: Mass Extractor: Cybran: 10 seconds to build, 30 seconds to pay for itself, but popped with 100 pts of damage UEF: 15 seconds to build, 80 seconds to pay for itself, but popped with 250 pts of damage Aeon: 30 seconds to build, 120 seconds to pay for itself, and produces 2* as much resources as UEF or Cybran (actual numbers may vary, but this is to give an idea of what I mean. The Cybrans can create a new base very quickly, but a single gunship will be able to clear the whole base. The UEF require the gunship to loiter for a little bit, meaning AA units can try to kill it. Aeon are vulnerable for longer while being built, take longer to pay for themselves, but will be a very good resource production once complete.)

Really if you can hang on w/ them till the t3 they have a really good answer for every slot you could play.
I main Cybrans for the stealth and versatility, but I'd like to say that the Aeon do seem to have surprisingly good AA in low and mid tier. The Cybran SAM turret is the best, no question, but air rushing the Aeon is pretty hard.
Yeah, Aeon overall are the harder faction, but funny enough, I do like the faction and I finish the campaign of the first game by choosing them, I kinda like the challenge , seraphim are fun though,. I always like the alien vibe from them
I disagree with your rankings. Not due to the factions themselves but due to the criteria. Any faction has the potential to be the best faction if its on the right map and in the right circumstances. For example, on setons, UEF would easily be best for the front slot position or a naval position. Late game, UEF navy is unbeatable by any faction or in front position, their ability to turtle can overwhelm any of the other factions. Ravagers are insane. However, on a small scale naval map, cybran or sera would probably be best since either faction can overwhelm the UEF early game. Likewise, for the air slot on most maps, most people would say Aeon is best. Aeon have probably the best air of all the factions. Comparing them to the UEF though is difficult since they both are the best based on the situation. I can keep going for awhile with specific examples and honestly probably write a full essay on this. However, for simplicity sake, and IMO, for versatility alone, I think the ranking is Cybran, UEF, Sera, and Aeon in that order are the best.
I often think that Cybran at the front. U can put ur naval on ur cliff player side. Can then naval bombard ur mirror or march destroyers across the land bridge to help ur beach player. Sadly I’m just a spectator of this beautiful game. But I do love it.
I enjoyed your comments on he'd but having watching the top pros they will definitely beat other factions as uef all the time. You also have to think as the Percy is a t4 when in a group as uef
hi all, first day i tried playing this with friend. Got couple noob questions if any1 would be so kind and give out their wisdom: 1] how to make MEX places visible even when scrolling out? I think i modified it and i need to scroll really deep to see the yellow icons (so i am forced to use minimap to find them) 2] how to hotkey buildings? Do i need to use the template thingy for this or what would be default hotkey for power/mexs? 3] how many workers would you recommend building before switching and starting building army? I know this probably depends on scouting but in general...
First off, welcome to the greatest RTS ever :D. I've answered your questions below: 1) There's a toolbar under your resources that has a green globe. Select that and make sure the resources option is selected> 2) For hotkeys, I've made a video here on how mine (and really my whole HUD) are set up and how to set them up: ruclips.net/video/4-aeYDXr0Ws/видео.html&ab_channel=TheDuelist. Hotkey stuff starts at about 5 minutes into the video. 3) Lastly, I post my ladder and custom games on my channel and try to walk through what I build and why when I do it. I would also take a look at Jagged Appliance's channel as he is one of the top players and he will often post games that he plays. Hope that helps. My Discord and FAF handles are also in the description of my videos so if you need help or anything feel free to reach out to me there as well.
Usually go with Sera on Ladder, as it feels like a safe choice on every map. Just hate when games drag out to T3 with them, as their siege tank and the chicken are not great. Luckily the Ilshavoh closes out most games beforehand.
Yeah you can beat someone early with that. Late game you scratch your head as to how you will play the game. I think UEF may be better than Sera late game unlike what he said. Because it’s almost impossible to build the experimental nuke and the base creeping late game works well with the long range fat boy.
@@michaelsofinevery true. Fatboys got much stronger since they can build (shields & flak) while moving. Especially if SCUs are also building t2 shield structures nearby (to defend vs artillery). Late-mid game seraphim fall behind due to a lack of RAS SCU. This can be played around (fast ythotha), but generally it's a big racial disadvantage... And their advantages (ilshavoh) are often countered by overcharge. This is all 1v1 thinking btw - I don't play teams. (pa. Sniper bots make a big difference, but not as much as RAS imo.)
Cybran always telemazes. I’ve done this before with seraphim with gun upgrade but it works better with cybran because of stealth and has stronger gun. So late game players build t1 pd in their base and get nano or shield to counter this. Because you always see this play especially if cybran player is losing. Because it can instantly kill you and they can teleport out and do it again.
No real mention of navy? UEF navy is awesome with the Neptune and don't forget the bulwark ship. Really crucial unit. And the cruiser has amazing range and battleship is the best. Also percies are amazing. Cybran definitely have the best experimentals. Monkeylord is so quick with stealth and cheap, megalith has amazing dps and crazy high health and range and they get a t4 air unit and then artillery. Awesome.
I had the impression that he does not often play maps that need navy. He didn't even mention that the Seraphim have the best cruiser, by far. He also didn't mention that Aeon have lots of floating units which comes in handy on maps with smaller water areas. The only time he mentions float it's the Zhuey :p So I get it that he imply is no water guy ;)
cybran will take care and hold your hand UEF will teach you all the the basic Seraphim will teach you how to be smart Aeon.......if you like being abused and step on often then go for it!

Maybe in air but that is debatable, but in land they get owned by Cybran and UEF. In sea they have the second weakest navy. Their T4 is the second weakest after Seraphim.
for a good player i will say yes but for a noob i will say 1 cybran 2 FTU 3 Aeon 4 seraphim i love seraphim but i really don't feel like they are easy to play for a noob player i feel like they really are everything or nothing if you do a mistake you will not come back like other faction same for the exp awasha is good if you know use it well and ythota do dmg to yourself if he die in the wrong place and you don't have any engenering station or little commander with RAS upgrade
Seraphim is hard to play for new players in my experience, been one myself. T1 is tricky since the scout is bad and they have nothing like a lab. Mass t1 wars are hard with them. Seraphim Navy is also not so strong, Aeon and Cybrans t2 being better. That the Seraphim Destroyer can dive doesnt help much and newer players cant micro them well anyway. UEF for newer players and Cybran being the strongest faction is more realistic imo. Also the Hives would have been worth mentioning.
The key to seraphim scouts is thinking of them like you think of aeon tanks (aurora)... Selens out-range all other LABs, and if the selen is running away, it will kill other LABs. As such, you have to get into the habit of kiting with seraphim LAB vs LAB combat. Takes a ton of getting used to, but that's key to using seraphim LABs effectively - running away from advancing LABs, and attack-moving when you yourself are advancing.
The way my friend obliterates me every time with T1 Aeon is so infuriating. The difference in victory or defeat is a single second of micro, repeated perfectly each battle.
No, they aren't that bad but each unit is specialized. So you basically need each unit to cover yourself. If you go too deep with one unit you'll need to micro manage which as he said takes away from other things that need your attention. They are good as mostly on a per mass basis they win out. Many players use them and do very well. Sera is easier as they have less units which are good for multiple things. However the air isn't good, not bad but isn't good. Only 1 gunship at t2, and it is ok. Nothing really stands out on air save transport capability and t4 bomber.
Sera may have best t2 unit but they can be countered by t3 unit. And then their t3 tank is slow does low damage and has lower health. UEF and cybran have stronger t3 units. Aeon has faster t3 unit and maybe just as strong if you they don’t power stall because like their t2 tank it relies on shields.
The big problem with ilshavoh is overcharge imo. Othuums line up pretty damn well against t3 bots, especially with sniper support. But overcharge to beat ilshavoh, combined with a lack of RAS SCU, makes seraphim very problematic in maps where their hover artillery can't score a free water win, imo.
in all seriousness though, I would say your ordering is spot on. depending on map type too, Aeon may fair better given their variety of floating units. many an aurora have i encountered whilst trying to develop navy.
@@aaronsmith3281 I hate that satellite. Even though UEF is one of my more played factions, that satellite infuriates me beyond words. The vision range is huge (but that's fine, it's a satellite), but in addition it does a very large amount of damage with area of effect and it cannot be targeted nor stopped (shields don't counter it, they will fall under its continued attack). The only way to stop it is to kill the control structure, however if it is say Setons, it is likely that Novax was built somewhere it cannot be reached. That means the enemy has a unit that deals high damage, provides extensive recon, and cannot be directly countered. If it were up to me, either the satellite could be targetable with ASF, or its damage would be drastically reduced (although I would probably give it a bonus VS shields, similar to the Absolver). I main Cybrans for the stealth and versatility, but I'd like to say that the Aeon do seem to have surprisingly good AA in low and mid tier. The Cybran SAM turret is the best, no question, but air rushing the Aeon is pretty hard.
Lobster in a track suit with a chainsaw. >< Made my day. Thx
Yeah, Aeon overall are the harder faction, but funny enough, I do like the faction and I finish the campaign of the first game by choosing them, I kinda like the challenge , seraphim are fun though,. I always like the alien vibe from them
At first I had UEF at number 2 but after reading the comments and watching the video I have them at number 2. Serpahim is the clear number 1.
I will still be the only sera or maybe one more half the time in a game
Anyone got any tips for someone who really likes turtle/swarm?
Before I even watch, Cybran for life! I'll fight all of you 😁
Can anyone tell me where do i get the UI numbers and letters for units mod?
I enjoyed your comments on he'd but having watching the top pros they will definitely beat other factions as uef all the time.
You also have to think as the Percy is a t4 when in a group as uef
can someone please tell me the song in this video ;-:
when i play uef i instictively started to turle from the tart
hi all, first day i tried playing this with friend. Got couple noob questions if any1 would be so kind and give out their wisdom:
1] how to make MEX places visible even when scrolling out? I think i modified it and i need to scroll really deep to see the yellow icons (so i am forced to use minimap to find them)
2] how to hotkey buildings? Do i need to use the template thingy for this or what would be default hotkey for power/mexs?
3] how many workers would you recommend building before switching and starting building army? I know this probably depends on scouting but in general...
First off, welcome to the greatest RTS ever :D. I've answered your questions below:
1) There's a toolbar under your resources that has a green globe. Select that and make sure the resources option is selected>
2) For hotkeys, I've made a video here on how mine (and really my whole HUD) are set up and how to set them up: ruclips.net/video/4-aeYDXr0Ws/видео.html&ab_channel=TheDuelist.
13:50 You Didn't Drop The Link
How i get the mini map on the top left??
It's in the little menu with the ping options under the resource window
Great work, thnx.
I wish this game don't freeze so much
cybran will take care and hold your hand
UEF will teach you all the the basic
Seraphim will teach you how to be smart
Aeon.......if you like being abused and step on often then go for it!
For Seraphim That What The Way mean 😁👍
Hey , bro I just got back into sup com. How can I play modded?
Do you mean mods in FAF or playing in FAF itself? Because technically FAF is a mod.
@TheDuelist really just faf and the mods it has to offer. Or even just the Game itself and installing mods. I'm so dumb with computers
@@austinstoner1988 There's a tutorial on this site that goes through how to link FAF to your steam or GOG account: faforever.com/play
For the mods within FAF, there are quite a few of them from little things like target prioritization all the way to entire game overhauls like the Total Annihilation conversion. To install them you just search, then click to add them to your account. It's pretty straightforward.
@TheDuelist damn that seems pretty easy. I just want more units for each faction, better balance, total mayhem, orbital wars, experimental wars, brew lan etc. And every now and then nomads faction. I watch a lot of gyle casts. I really wish he'd show a match with nomads so I could get a good feel for them
@@austinstoner1988 Unfortunately, I believe that a lot of the team working on the nomads faction moved on to different projects so as far as I know, that faction isn't getting new updates. It is available to be played in FAF though.
My personal ranking:
1. Cybran
2. UEF
3. Seraphim
4. Aeon
I agree. I rate Cybran for the amount of ways they can win.
you forgot to add a timestamp for seraphim
Cybran For The Win. Cybran Superior UEF, Aeon And [On A Good Day] Seraphim Most Inferior
Aeon have by far the best Lategame
True. Back when I played I main'd Aeon and my main priority was to get into T3-4 ASAP yeah.
Maybe in air but that is debatable, but in land they get owned by Cybran and UEF. In sea they have the second weakest navy. Their T4 is the second weakest after Seraphim.
for a good player i will say yes but for a noob i will say
1 cybran
2 FTU
3 Aeon
4 seraphim
i love seraphim but i really don't feel like they are easy to play for a noob player
i feel like they really are everything or nothing if you do a mistake you will not come back like other faction
same for the exp awasha is good if you know use it well and ythota do dmg to yourself if he die in the wrong place
and you don't have any engenering station or little commander with RAS upgrade
No tier list :o ?!
UEF Is Good.
If You Can't Lose Then Eventually You Will Win.
Right?
doesnt drop a link zz
RUclips converted links to icons a while back. Check again.
I think Cybran is the most used faction and is probably done for a reason
The key to seraphim scouts is thinking of them like you think of aeon tanks (aurora)... Selens out-range all other LABs, and if the selen is running away, it will kill other LABs. As such, you have to get into the habit of kiting with seraphim LAB vs LAB combat.
Takes a ton of getting used to, but that's key to using seraphim LABs effectively - running away from advancing LABs, and attack-moving when you yourself are advancing.
Cybran is the best if you want your friends to hate you lol
I agree with you
Specially in the fact that AEON is a faction for cowards who retreat all the time
The way my friend obliterates me every time with T1 Aeon is so infuriating. The difference in victory or defeat is a single second of micro, repeated perfectly each battle.
Just learn that the cybran pd don't destroy reclaim cybran best faction?
Is aeon really that bad?
No, they aren't that bad but each unit is specialized. So you basically need each unit to cover yourself. If you go too deep with one unit you'll need to micro manage which as he said takes away from other things that need your attention. They are good as mostly on a per mass basis they win out. Many players use them and do very well. Sera is easier as they have less units which are good for multiple things. However the air isn't good, not bad but isn't good. Only 1 gunship at t2, and it is ok. Nothing really stands out on air save transport capability and t4 bomber.
@@skidmoda thx for the info. Do you still play?
Absolutely not. Due to their units being specialized you need to play like an Aeon commander, Play like a uef commander and you'll fail.
@@mikeg8564 hell yeah. Thanks for that. Makes a lot of sense.
I disagree with the main point. Why?
I'm angry.
not really though, great vid
in all seriousness though, I would say your ordering is spot on. depending on map type too, Aeon may fair better given their variety of floating units. many an aurora have i encountered whilst trying to develop navy.
Give uef a flying experimental. And that's enought
one of the only things 2 did right in terms of units was the flying fortress
Tanky T3 transport. T2 fighter bombers. T2 gunships with underhooks to transport a unit. I’m not keen on the satellite but UEF are ok in the air.
The reason for this is because the satellite should be used to eliminate enemy mexes and economic structures. The current build however can do whatever the hell it wants to anything not in the air or underwater.
@@cairnarunir Shields are rather effective against satelites. With 2 satelites you can't break through 3 shield generators that protect eachother.
@@Vincrand if that is the case for the current FAF balance, then my information is out of date. It could be, I haven't tested the satellite in quite a while. However, the last time I tried, it shredded anything it wanted to on the surface
Aeon tech 2 is the best t2 land
Cool vid, thanks
UEF Percival spam.
BUFF AEONS (AGAIN)
Stop microing, start playing.
