It was 600 miles not 6,000
Ohhhh good catch! That made it even harder for the customer to be able to know something was wrong.
I was wondering how it was still “New” with 6,000 miles on it.
@@erhodes352my grandpa bought several "demo" cars with 6k miles over the years. Hes gone but my grandma still drives their "new" one. An 02 Taurus. Ive buffed paint transfer off of it from every pole and parking block in town. Before that, a 97 or 8 mountaineer, 94 thunderbird, 92ish tempo and an 85 or 86 escourt.
@erhodes352 , most states consider it a new car sale even with 6000 miles. The car has not yet been titled, so it's legally considered a "new car" sale. That doesn't mean you get full new car warranty, though. Clock starts the day that car was put into loaner car service.
Depending on the price, a demo or granded loaner can be a good deal. It just depends on the details.
A "new" vehicle with 6000 miles isn't new to me...
it was 600 miles, 6000 was mentioned by mistake.
It had 600 miles, over $6000 in damage. Brandon got his numbers mixed up a bit
Oh well, I can only go by what is said... and 600 miles is STILL too many miles for a new vehicle ...
Even 10 miles on a "NEW" vehicle makes me cringe.
Chevy Dealership sold me a used Malibu that was previously wrecked where the carfax had no record of it being wrecked .
They paid for the damage out of pocket and didn’t turn it in.
It’s only on carfax if you report it. It’s a tool to help not to just trust blindly. A still gotta look at the damn car
One of our local Ford dealers has a relatively large rental fleet (roughly 50 vehicles). When it was hard to get f250’s they were shuffling them through their rental fleet to get them on the used side to mark them up. More recently, they put most of their existing rental fleet on the used lot and took most of the remaining 23’s as rentals.
I bought a used 16 corvette from a chevy dealer few years back it had a clean car fax and auto check.come to find out the car had 12k worth of damage(that they fixed in there bodyshop) due to a guy with a ax yes an ax smashing it up, not only that but the car sat at the dealership with the windows all smashed up in the michigan winter. Waiting on insurance to figure out what to do since original owner did not want the car anymore. Some how my onstar and the original owners onstar got linked and he told me the whole story on the car. When i called the dealer and talked to the owner he didn't deny it but i had already traded it in on a z06 so they told me i shouldn't worry about it.
This happened to me in 2012 at the Acura dealership when I got a demo sale lease car that was never registered but was in an accident. When I turned in my Lease, the inspection rep stated that the rear quarter panel was sprayed with new paint.
I bought a new Corvette 2016. 5 miles on the odometer. I still demanded the Carfax, it was clean🙂
With gas at 3 or 4 dollars a gallon it’s no longer feasible for the car lots to stay open they may as well close.
typical for car dealers. not surprised
That's ford for you
Question: I am currently seeing a Toyota Tacoma until September. I don't plan on keeping the truck. It's too small and it doesn't ride well. I've been doing a lot of research on the Ford F-150 lightning and with all of the incentives being offered by Ford, do you think it's a good buy? Thanks!
A truck that has 6000 miles on it. It's not brand new, it's used.
In addition to what Brandon said for why EVs are taking such big depreciation. The $7500 rebate isn't part of the difference in price between new and used. Take for example, I bought an inventory Tesla Model Y LR in January for $36,590 +fees. If I sold it now for $35000, that would be shown as a $47,990 car sold for $35,000 Huge loss in a matter of months. That's actually 23.76% loss.
You speak the truth. The depreciation that people talk about is not based on out the door pricing, it is based on MSRP. Just imagine a Jeep now :) That MSRP may be at 80k, but the sale price is 60k. Now trade it in with 5k miles on it and you will get 50k for it. People will complain that it lost 30k :)
Find a buyer for $35,000 for your Tesla .
@@jamesdallas1493 It is not that hard. KBB has the trade in value at 37k.
@@jamesdallas1493 I plan to keep it for many years, not interested in selling. Just numbers in an example.
I see this a lot
A RESPETIVE DEALER WOULD BE UP FRONT!HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A CAR SALESPERSON IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH(THE MOUTH IS MOVING)JUST SAYIN
4ta
This truck ant right, maybe it's a Ford thing guess I'll buy a Chevy. WTF, scumbags. Glad they were caught.
plus why the hell would he take it Immediately to gm to trade it? why not just take it back to the dealer and return it? this is s stupid story snd he didn't deserve 100k
The rest of the world doesnt have the same return policy as amazon. Only Way to return it would be if Ford did a buyback voluntarily or through the lemon law if the state has it. it did not meet that criteria initially. he just didn't like the way it drove so he was willing to cut his losses and switch brands. that is when he found out it was previously damaged.
Gasoline station raises price = gouging. Dealer marks up a vehicle price = market adjustment.
Gasoline is all Taxes .
The largest stockholders in corporations are pension funds.
Gas stations isn’t the reason for high gas prices. At most they make 8 cents a gallon
@@CarnivoreCrazy-kx2lj Then why do I see a 45 cent variance as I drive around?
@@BillyBobDingledorf you don’t.
I m 60 years old. Have bought countless vehicles over the decades... for the most part, dealers suck. I have had a few good experiences, but overall, they just suck! The lies, cheating, manipulation, bait and switch, just the overwhelming dishonesty, frankly its just sad. Is this what you have to do to make a living?
For me this dealer needs to be shut down and all involved in this put in jail. This is my take on the new car dealers, for the last 10 years they have had the attitude that we will charge whatever the customer can bear and have been able to run amuck and even enter into areas that seem to scream of being illegal, but no one seemed to care as greed is a driving force that motivates many. Now that the price of new cars and the burden of the 84 months of brutal car payments have finally dealt a serious blow to the new car market, hopefully the consumer has finally woke up and is putting a stop to this. I have a relative who is now retired from car sales but he has mentioned that new car dealers are not your friend and don't ever think that that you got the best of them on a car sale.
Thanks to our elected officials, we have no choice but to buy new vehicles from dealerships. The FTC is trying to stop the dealerships from putting expensive/ worthless add ons on new vehicles. The Texas Automobile Dealers have appealed the ruling. Ripping the public off anyway they can.
Man that's a messed up thing for the dealer to do
Carmax did this to me !!!! I bought a Camry XLE with 5,000 miles on it and come to find out it was in a wreck as a body man pointed out….
That’s why carfax is only good as far as REPORTED accidents go. I’ve never trusted any of their “fax” as complete.
Car Max JB Byrider renamed, still doing their same tricks though.
We always can tell if it’s been worked on. Now I’m sure it’s fine but you definitely over paid for it
Guy at work ordered a new car, the body was damaged in transit.
He went to pick it up and was told not to wax it because the paint was fresh. ???
Found out that the body shop there had fixed it and wasn’t going to tell him.
He refused to take it and bought a car from another dealer.
This is quite common. I did deliveries to a body shop for years. The place had brand new Mazdas and Fords all the time. Minor damage to bumper covers and door dings, but enough to need repair. He was so busy he didn't accept o lot of major collision damage anymore.
How about all the brand new cars and trucks that were flooded in salt water in south florida, a couple years ago ! Buyer Beware !
I bought a Nissan truck from Faulkner Nissan in 2019. I noticed clear coat peeling near the gas cap, took it in for warranty paint work and the other dealer I took it too would not perform the work since it wasn’t an actual warranty issue… I fought with the dealer and Nissan for about 1.5 years and gave up by just trading it in. I could have sued them, but it’s not something I ever did and just let it go. Hindsight is 20/20…. BTW, the entire bed side was replaced and required the bed to be removed. Total damages were over 10k which is over the legal limit in PA that has to be disclosed.
Learn from my mistakes and get them to put in writing with a signature that no prior damages were repaired prior to you buying.
dealership could have fixed it in house, skip carfax, and then no one would know about the wreck
Nothing surprises me anymore about, well about anything but for a Dealership to sell a Truck as new . That has been wrecked just baffles my mind. For a Company with its name to me would bankrupt your dealership. Because anyone and everyone should know that they are crooks that don’t give a crap about nobody, but that almighty Dollar. That’s like you doing this at your car lot. Your name means everything. If you get a bad name for being a crook and deceiving the public would put you out of business. I will never understand. I was raised So different. Your word means everything that explains why I don’t understand because I’m not like those people. Thanks for the great content today. Keep it up. Put your wife in front of the camera more often. I know that y’all are a great team.
There's a buy here pay here lot down the street from me. I went in and was interested in a 15 year old 4x4 Ford Ranger in 2019. Found out it had 267k miles on it, and they wanted $6800 for it. I just laughed and walked out. 2 years ago I went back interested in 1996 Toyota Corolla with 167k miles. They wanted 5k. You'd think they be out of business, yet they stay in business cause they prey on people with bad or no credit.
Their Lobbying Group in Washington DC preventing real reform
100% Correct!
Interesting about service loaners...I've always suspected since they are the latest model that they are to "motivate" a driver to upgrade the next time their car needs to go to the shop. (tin-foil hat) they jack up the price of the following services.
Unchecked corporate greed got us here
not just corporate - it takes two to tango. We are just as guilty. All we had to do as buyers is say, "no I will not pay over MSRP."
I like that point and agree, at the same time banks should not be allowed to green light loans like that to begin with, that’s what got us the the house market crash in 2008
Stupid buyers fueled the fire. Why would anyone in their right mind pay any kind of market adjustment?
@@mr.shelly1812the hell with that, we need to say “we will not pay msrp,it’s too high so we will pay UNDER msrp”. I remember those days, they need to be brought back, this is the right mindset!
@@mr.shelly1812what do you mean we? I played no part in paying for overpriced cars
Ford is one of the most unstanderdized vehicles ever ! They leave no stone unturned making everything different and unique year after year model after model ! This is why gm is the better choise ! Doint fix it unless its broke ! Thats how ferd makes there millions ! Buyer beware !
I bought a new Jeep Liberty CRD, and the salesman accidentally pumped gas instead of diesel. They found me another Jeep, and after cleaning the gas out the other Jeep it was back on the lot. Im sure it didn't hurt it, but Im also sure the next buyer was never informed about the mishap.
Terrible. The Libertys are the worst vehicle made as it is. No way it will ever run right.
I'm sure it was good as new ;-)
Who tf would pay $120k for a Sequoia with all that cheap ass plastic on the inside? The new Tacoma is terrible on the inside. Cheapest bidder plastic you can find.
Its a used truck with 6000 miles so yes run a car fax!!
being a body guy.. ive fixed hundreds of brand new under 10 mile cars.. swapping hoods, doors you name it ive done it
My wife and I retired from owning a used car dealership in 2015. We have known many honorable dealers over the years…..however I can understand the displeasure folks endure trying to purchase an automobile, just tell them upfront they have 30 minutes to provide any information you require, then leave. Do not allow yourself to be jerked around. It’s up to YOU!
Long time ago I worked at a Jeep Eagle Dealership in Canada. They had a New Jeep Grand Cherokee that had transmission issues and they sold it New and customer and drove it to Florida for vacation, half way there transmission Failed.
I've seen Grand Cherokee Rear bumpers fall off as soon as they drove it off the lot. 😂.
Dealer would send used vehicles to Quebec, to have Odometers turned back as not illegal there.
Sad.
No offense Brandon but car dealerships are the worst scumbags on the face of the earth. What they do is criminal.
Same thought here…6000 miles is definitely not new. That’s used.
Resourceful; adjective, having the ability to just screw your community!
A used car dealership that has been in business in my town for over 40 years just went belly up last week.
Lying, cheating, stealing=resourceful?
Police report was filed. Makes you wonder why the dealerships body shop didn’t make the repairs
Insurance dictates where the vehicle gets fixed. If he had wrecked it without another party being involved it would have been fixed at the dealership.
@@thystaff742 the consumer decides where the vehicle gets repaired not the insurance company!
@DollarBill01984 Doesn't work that way in all states. They have designated repair shops they contract with that you have to take the vehicle too.
@@thystaff742 hey buddy you need to know your insurance rights. The consumer has the final say on which shop performs the repairs.
$40,000 over MSRP, Right when You may have more money than Brains, Also my wife bought a Brand new Honda Civic Sport with only 193 miles on it, This Car was Never Titled by anyone except us, But we Knowingly bought it with a Repaired Branded Title, But we also paid close to half price of new, , It's Been a Great Ride so far, But If someone sold it as a Clean Titled Car I would have been Way pissed, That Ford Dealer should Know better, How DARE You for sure 😁.
Covert Ford in Austin, TX off 183 would wreck/damage brand new vehicles… won’t even document it so they won’t suffer on the backend….
This wouldn't have to happen if car manufacturers were allowed to sell direct to consumer. No mark-ups, no BS, configure it and just buy it.
Way back in 2006 I bought a new Ranger from Paul Miller. They had a bunch of vehicles that had hail damage. They took $5,000 off the price of the Ranger. It was covered with little dents but It was a good deal. I still have it and it's going to pass 300,000 miles soon. I wish they were still made like that.
You'd have to be out of your mind to pay 120k for a Toyota Sequoia. That's ridiculous.
Anything over 100 miles is a used vehicle period
My local GM dealer gives you credit for your trade-in after the total cost of the new car. If you don't know tax rules, you'll be paying too much in taxes.
It's like living through the "True Coat" scene in the movie Fargo.
Years ago (before CARFAX) as a young loan officer at a bank I financed a late model used truck my customer was buying at the local Ford dealership. When the bank got the title it was a salvage title. Turned out the Ford store bought it wrecked and had their body shop repair and never told my customer. When the Ford store finally admitted what they did they offered to buy it back but at the price of a salvage titled vehicle instead of at the retail price they charged my customer!
I ran a Dodge dealership for 20years, we had behicles come in off the transport carrier with 20-30k in damages, brand new the lot guys for the transport carrier smashes em and they still go out
You would think they would have remembered Chrysler’s pain in the mid eighties for selling cars as new that were wrecked (rolled over). Did not end well for them.
U put new units in your “loaner program” new vehicles usually cant be sold over msrp and if so is subject to chargeback
This just makes me happier that I will not be buying my next car from a dealership.
I literally had the same thing happened to me with a infinity Q50 that I bought from Beverly Hills infinity and it was on manager special. I had a random light go off while I was on a road trip and pulled over to an infinity dealer close by off of the 5 only for the tech to point out that there had been damage to the vehicle. Otherwise I would have never known long story short. I ended up suing the dealership. They had to pay back all the money I paid on the car plus damages, but turns out they ended up doing that to so many people. They ended up paying over a million dollars in damages and fees. And fines, and they had to shut that dealership down. It's insane how dirty these dealers are and how. They will lie straight to your face. Because this dealer created a fake car facts and presented it to me as if it was real. Sorry about punctuation. I'm using voice to text
that's not going to look good on a resume.
Would one of these Cheating Dealerships by in Atlanta!!! We see alot of these practices here😮
Again, what these Dirtbag Dealers fail to recognize is that life is cumulative and that there is always exposure before judgment... there just seems to be a lot of deception ramping up in the auto market today, and, with thar, there is going to be a big price to pay for it tomorrow..
Absolutely :)
Good morning / afternoon / evening , if a vehicle has 24 miles on it, but it is a 2021 on the dodge lot, could they still call it a new car ? If that is the case, does the age have anything to do with the status of new car vs used car, or is it strictly based on mileage ?
I once had seen a car which was over 10 years old where is was marketed as new since it was never registered or had been titled. I think that is a bunch of crock since the same scenario can show up or something similar like storm damage, or even damage during transportation to dealership.
Years ago i sold a new vehicle or so i was to believe. Had 20 miles on it. New owner comes to dealership a week later and was wanting to beat my ass, i told the sales mgr what was happening, he shut his door and told me that the car fell off the hauler and landed on the roof. They put a new roof on it and put it on the lot.🙄
don't forget about transport or lot damage. Vehicles on occasion get damaged while in transit to the dealer or get damaged at the dealer's lot. Dealers will get these vehicles fixed and put right back in line to be sold.
the word you are looking for is "FRAUD", not deceptive in my opinion.
The dealership's insurer may have heavily influenced the dealer's decision.
The attorney got $73,000. That's the real crime.
okay, how can it be sold as NEW if it had 6K miles????????????
Imagine. A crooked new car dealership. Tell me it’s not true. 🤣
they are getting desperate and sneaky. do not sign your contract on a digital screen, only paper. they can manipulate the contract or add your signature to unsigned forms, only sign paper contracts.
Cheaters never prosper -
UNLESS you're talking about New Car Dealerships - then they prosper TWICE.
How do you buy a new car with 6K miles, a demo vehicle cannot be sold as new.
Dealership that price gouge can keep their vehicles let them rot on the lot. They rather take unsold vehicles to auctions then give a customer a fair deal.
I didn't like that Mike guy's answers/ideas.
My understanding is until the new vehicle is titled the dealer does not have to disclose anything about the vehicle other than it is being sold as new, meaning never titled. Auto's have damage from transport from the manufacture all the time. These things are fixed without the consumers knowledge all the time. The whole industry is very shady when it comes to disclosing damage to the vehicle before selling a new non titled new vehicle to an unsuspecting consumer. All buyers BEWARE!
The EPA regulations prevent car companies from selling Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris and Chev. spark.
Even with 600 miles, that car is not new anymore.
Vehicles get damaged all the time at the factory or in transit and I bet most of them get repaired and sold as new
If this doesn't underscore WHY people hate car dealer ships and car salesman I don't know what does. This is like going to a restaurant and finding out someone in the kitchen dropped your food on the floor scraped it up off the floor put it back on your plate and served it to you.
Just as an fyi, through a window I once observed a cook drop a utensil unto a restaurant kitchen floor and continued to use it w/o it being washed.
A car listing a vehicle over 1000 miles is considered used
You said it had 6000 miles. A used POS.
6k mile truck is definitely not new in my opinion….
Why would a customer not want to see the original MSRP sticker??
Then you would know if there’s a market adjustment or not
I did not hear you mention this😊
These F 150’s
Carfax shows the msrp sticker on the carfax itself
also 600 miles demo isn't new either, and lots of times actual new cars get damaged in shipping etc, happens a lot they are usually fixed at port or dealer but not done with insurance
Paul Miller Ford for those that missed it.
Hertz was charging a premium for EV rentals. That is one reason they had fewer rentals. And Hertz foolishly decided to sell parts of their EV fleet after 2 years when a Tesla will last much longer.
It's not a Ford problem, it's a dealership problem
I know Ford dealers where titling Bronco's and selling them as used to not get penalized by Ford for price gouging.
Permian Ford in Hobbs NM has a BUNCH of 6,000 mile 2024's. You have to call for "Special Pricing" from the used car team.
That's crazy. Great info. Trust nobody.

Take a paint depth gage with you to look at vehicles.
Paint depth should be uniform on panels that have NOT been repainted.
Any anomaly in thickness is highly suspicious of having body work done on it
True. Tho I’ve fixed cars that had factory repaints and the mil was off But yes easy tool to atleast pin point a issue potential
The big battery stack have a warranty. It’s a 100% warranty, for the first 36 months, after that it’s a prorated warranty. If your battery stack requires replacement at 6 years, you’ve used up 6/8 (=3/4) of the warranty and your out of pocket becomes 75% of the replacement cost. There’s a reason the prorated warranty expires at 8 years, because at 8 years a battery’s ability to be recharged becomes less efficient.
Even a hybrid battery stack has an 8 year prorated warranty.

You would be surprised how many new vehicles have had paint and body work done. Those trucks are a tight fit on transportation trailers and get damaged a lot. 80k for a truck thats had the roof repaired. Interior, sunroof, doors removed to repair and paint. Corvettes get a LOT of bumper damage. Source: was a collision tech in a dealership.
