I saw this movie when it first came out (1994). The soundtrack was spectacular and I find myself appreciating it even more as I grow older. No other soundtrack has stayed with me nearly as much as Stargate.
David Arnold thought he was just composing something for a movie. He ended up creating the theme of my childhood for one of the most imaginative tv series ever. Stargate SG1 will forever be something special to me. The people behind that show took the idea of the movie and made something so much bette out of it with a ''limited'' tv budget.
Honestly David Arnold did for Stargate what John Williams did for Star Wars, this soundtrack takes the movie to the next level. And like Williams it is totally listenable on its own.
Its so good they retained this theme for the SG show :) Even though with slight changes. And while they used the 0:40 - 1:10 part for the main theme, they still heavily used the 1:10 - 1:50 for emotional moments. That's good :)
Well you must come from another reality. In this one It didnt, It was another theme (in fairness, the movie ost was used extensively in the first season)
This first time I saw stargate on VHS back in 1997 i think, i heard this opening music, and i was like, this is david arnold isn't it (I had already seen independence day) and then, his name came up in the opening credits and i was like, bam, i called it
Stargate a été une révolution du genre. Mélanger extraterrestre et mythologie égyptienne, duo gagnant. Fait partie de ma playlist de films et musiques.
Beautiful theme since when I remembered it! The best movie in reference to egyptian and full of beautiful variety of race of actors! I'm always hypnotized
30th anniversary. That is a mind-boggling thought. I can't believe it. I know it's a fact, but I still can't believe it. There is no way this movie can be 30 years old. What's wrong with the universe? A permanent glitch in the matrix? LOL I remember seeing Stargate when it was new (1994 / 1995 winter season). I loved the movie even though it had its flaws. The soundtrack was flawless. It also appears to be timeless. When I listen to it, I lose track of time and place. The glitch in the matrix intensifies. If you told me today is November 2014 I would believe you. If you try to tell me today is November 2024 (whaaat!?") I would laugh at you. "Nice try, but I ain't falling for that. It's not April Fools Day yet. Try again five months later."
Remember back in the 90s when movie companies used this theme in teaser trailers and main trailers for different films, jumanji is one that I can think of the top of my head
This movie is amazing. Literally the pure effort the designers and director put, along David Arnold’s Compositions. Easily one of the best sci-fi movies, even relating to this theory of the aliens creating pyramids and being gods in the ancient times. Sadly the series didn’t really hold well with the other movies. But hey, this movie will always hold itself even rn.
Don't Forget, all you people who comment on this amazing score, When October 28 comes this year, play and listen this to this score to honor the 30th anniversary of the 1994 film.
A friend bought it for me as a birthday gift on VHS. I had never seen a trailer for it, let alone heard of it. It sat around unopened for a good 6 months until one day i finally got curious and popped it in. I sat enthralled for the next 2 hours or so and eventually wore the tape out from watching it so much. I've since bought it on both DVD and Blu Ray. I'll always have a copy of it around.
Easily one of David Arnold's best scores. Masterpiece.
He should do another big movie.
Sad its no longer available to buy.
David Arnold is criminally underrated as a film composer.
This movie is what made me become a writer and composer. Its a masterpiece
Wow, that's awesome!
I saw this movie when it first came out (1994). The soundtrack was spectacular and I find myself appreciating it even more as I grow older. No other soundtrack has stayed with me nearly as much as Stargate.
Same 🙂
Same, I saw it in October 1994 with my sister. Brings back so many great memories.
Gotta love David Arnold
@@SylverTalonIt's a shame he doesn't do much nowadays 😔.
Star Gate the best

Meh. I prefer the movie to the TV show.
@@Duragizer8775 great you again. You’re like a plague.
I always found the TV show very boring and visually bad
@@morganshibby8941then you just have bad taste because the tv show was the best. Up there with Star Trek and Star Wars. That’s a fact.
ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER IN THE UNIVERSE !
David Arnold was 32 years old when he composed this masterpiece.
Composers always do their best work when young.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Easily imo the most underrated scifi movie of all time. Even if there is love for this movie out there, it's not enough....
The love for the series is way more!
The first half is amazing. It kind of falls apart in the last act. Still a good movie.
Agreed. But I still love this movie. It was rushed on the second half. @@jasonjansen9831

Stargate Ra mummy
This song is extraordinary
I remember hearing this theme in the opening for every episode of Stargate SG1.
I really like this theme. It's very catchy.

Star wars, Indiana Jones, and Star gate have the best soundtracks. They were all done by possibly one of the best composers ever
Star Wars and Indiana Jones were done by John Williams. Stargate was done by David Arnold.

Great soundtrack for a great movie.
David Arnold is a really good musician. I found a used copy of his ID4 album in a record store.
I hope the new Dune movie has a theme like this.

It's Hans Zimmer so no chance. Get ready for sound design trash.
