I saw Kingfish in concert at the 2016 Portland Blues Festival. Impressive. I also saw Samantha Fish there who is fantastic singer and guitar and an acquaintance of mine from Kansas City.
I agree two of the greatest out there right now. I've seen them both several different times at different festivals never a bad show. Along with Marcus King.
Just an FYI, Jimi was one of many great blues guitarists to cover Hey Joe. As it happens someone just introduced me to Kingfish the other day. The young man has incredible talent and will go down as a blues great. One of my favourite covers of Hey Joe is by the late, great Alvin Lee.
Alvin Lee's Ten Years Later's version is amongst my favourites along with Hendrix's. I also encourage people to check Deep Purple's version off their first album. Jon Lord's keyboards are beautiful.
Great cover, The original is actually by Billy Roberts not Jimi, There are lots of other great versions too, My favourite's are by "Wilson Pickett" and "Love"
I went to go see him live a couple weeks ago he was awesome not just him but the entire lineup Kingfish, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and The legendary Buddy Guy over in Bethel NY for any blues fans would have enjoyed it
You guys need to watch the Roy Buchanan cover of Hey Joe. That's one, if not my favorite cover of Hey Joe. Also if you guys can watch Hendrix's live performance of this song at Monterey 1967
Kingfish is a first time for me.👍🎶The whole band are bad moe feauxs. Not much on the reggae transition though. He reminds me of BB King when he's doing his solo.
Actually the original version was by a band The Leaves in 1965, a year later The Byrds did their version, the Hendrix version is the best known but not original. Based on a true murder in 1962.
King Fish is a serious player and did play a excellent version of this song but imo... Best version next to Hendrix was done by none other than... Roy Buchanan... Please react to that and see what I'm saying. Can't wait! Peace and love
You Probably won't react to this, nobody does but if you want to hear the BEST TRIBUTE TO JIMI you have to do RED HOUSE BY GARY MOORE. UN-FRIGGING BELEAVEABLE. 😁❤🤘
Hey Guys I’m really glad to see you reacting to KingFish. If you get a chance check out his song “Empty Promises” live.He absolutely kills. Also check out “Samantha Fish”” I put a spell on you “cover live she is bad as hell too.Enjoy Guys!!!!

Hats off to the venue... the Blue Canoe in Tupelo. Check out 'I Put A Spell on You' by Samantha Fish feat. Kingfish.

I love the bass player he has, see him in all his video, and the drummer, he's in the King Fishes pocket.
The power is called Telepathy which is the power to communicate with your mind
Kingfish is a bad man.
Thank you!!
Sick!hats off to that man!

@@kurtschau5768 I had forgotten about Deep Purple's cover. I'll have to circle back and give it a listen. Thanks! I also like Roy Buchanan's version.
Lol, I missed "cover" in the description. Thought wow, Jiminy put on some weight.
Guy's pretty good.
Lol
Saw Kingfish at a small venue in Portsmouth NH. Great show.
A little known group, Frantic, did an absolutely amazing cover of Hey Joe. You can find the song on RUclips.
Awesome!
Hell yeah! Nobody loves Jimi Hendrix more than I do but I could listen to this all day long.🎸
King Fish!
Love his “Outside of This Town”.

The Kingfish is so damn good

I like this. The Marmalade did a great version of Hey Joe in 1969
This is crazy to me that you are aware of this. I saw this somehow a few years ago and it blew my mind.
Hendrix's version was not the original verion. these guys took the song back to it's blues roots. good job!
My favorite rendition is by the band Love, check out their song 7 and 7 is.
'hey joe' wasn't a hendrix original ... its by 'tim rose' ... many things aren't as they seem ...
Kingfish is a first time for me.👍🎶The whole band are bad moe feauxs. Not much on the reggae transition though. He reminds me of BB King when he's doing his solo.
Another brilliant live version of this song is by Gary Moore with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell
Another great cover of this to check out is by Buckwheat Zydeco.

Best cover - Roy Buchanan
Don't Let the Devil Ride and Empty Promises are even better than this! Kingfish is awesome!
Jimmy wasn't the original player on this actually kingfish kept it closer to the original then Jimi Hendrix did.
You do know Jimi was also a cover right.
1/10
