There were maybe 150 people at this show, and now over a million have seen this video. That is absolutely wild to me. I had never filmed at a show before and any audio I had ever tried recording sounded like death. The fact that this came out so well is a miracle. I'm glad so many people have seen this and, in turn, have supported Kingfish's music by buying an album or concert ticket. I wouldn't say soul. His voice is too pristine to be soulful, those old blues singers sound rough and raw and hoarse. He just sounds like your average American idol contestant or church singer

I was thinking the same thing. I know a lot of people are coming on his guitar playing and is singing, but just a drummer and bass behind him! They are not getting enough credit by the people. That drummer is on fire and like you said the basement is on point. They are right in the pocket
@@jaimeastin I find it personally so much better, as far as a listening experience goes, and much more pleasing when you can follow all the instruments at once. That bassist has the magic touch, in the background when he needs to be, and loud and proud when he should be. Tone is amazing, and just sonically in tune. I could listen to that all day. And I mainly listen to METAL. As a guitarist myself I generally don’t focus on the guitar in the song too much, but what’s behind the lead that makes it sound extraordinary.

@@mankypancakes not note for note, but they made it thier own. I had to scream "and I gave her the gun!" On 'Hey Joe' but the singer totally came through. Cult was damn near note for note. Good stuff, my guy!!

The NFL does not allow any actual musicians to perform, all super bowl performances are mimed / faked. Red Hot Chili Peppers talked about this back in the day…they wanted to play but had no choice.

I like a band that can improvise. Played with tons of bands that were so caught up in playing the songs note for note. This man is a legend. His guys do a great job of backing him up. Props to them.
I love finding newer videos of songs kingfish has already done just to see how much hes progressed and how spicy the tunes have become. When he started jamming redbone and old town road I just started laughing, this kid is something special.
In another video I have "Love Ain't My Favorite Word" he plays the old Nickelodeon theme and I about passed out laughing at that. He said he throws that in every show in hopes that someone asks about it

Seeing that Les Paulecaster (?) in the thumbnail got me. Had to watch the vid just to see what kinda info I could gleen about that thing. Then homie just melted my face. I don't know why the algorithm chose this specific video to suggest, but I'm fucking glad it did.
My guitar teacher told me once that people were not "better" than others, they just practiced more. He was wrong.That was 20 years before this kid was born, and 40 years later, can't even touch this in my wildest dreams. Kingfish has pure innate talent that I'll never have. Every note was perfect. Not just played perfectly, but it was the the note that HAD to come next.
@@BobMobber Ascribing this guy's skill to some inherent "talent" robs him of any agency in the chops he worked to build. Just because you've played longer doesn't mean you've practiced for more hours or more effectively. The guy worked hard to sound as good as he did - don't take that away from him just to reconcile why you're not as good as you want to be.

Beast of a band, incredible guitar playing, singing, kick ass bassist and everyone is just going with the flow like true musicians. Takes serious talent do a song like this justice and put your own spin on it and absolutely murder every part. Probably one of the best covers of this song since Hendrix himself played it.

I've consumed a LOT of content over the history of RUclips, a great many of which being talented guitarists. Trust when I say you've definitely got the stuff man. Technique is always good to have but your sense for intonation is absolutely killer. The only reason you haven't blown up is chance. I have no doubt that you will.
The only way to make it in the music industry is to sell your soul. All famous music legends are in the club. This guy is better than that, he doesn’t need that. If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay right at the bottom. You don’t want the fame, I promise you that.
Blues is not as popular with this generation as it was years ago.

I’m all about metal….BUT, I grew up in New Orleans and know good blues when I hear it and this kid can jam. He feels it…I haven’t been home to Louisiana in a long time but live in another blues town up the Mississippi….I’m sure a lot of you can figure out the city.
