Hey Pete, you should do a video series on your trucks and trailers and how you keep everything maintained and running. Like where do you get your trucks, trailers, and how you would start to put together a setup. For those who want to start a business. Thanks Pete and God bless.
I hear ya! My Bermuda is well into dormancy due to the drought conditions. We have been getting some nice showers the last couple days here in east Texas due to the tropical storm coming in from Houston.
I’ve had no rain (PA) since 9/11, and it was about two weeks of no rain before that. I aerated and seeded 9/12. Still none in the forecast either. Gonna have a stellar water bill. 🤑

Hey budddy when we aerated and oversees here in middle Tennessee in Nashville with first scalped all the property with are aerating the next day. Usually I like to start dropping my deck like 3 before I scalp any of my lawns. Then I wait 3 weeks to ge it mow.

S W your perfectly fine doing it the way you did it as well. He actually did his own yard the way you did yours. Watch the video coming out tomorrow and check it out.
Hey Pete, have a question for you. Have a long established yard in Western Pa. (Pittsburgh suburbs) that hasn't had any type of care other than regular mowing in years. Looking to start caring for it and get rid of weeds etc. My question pertains to sequence. What's my first step? aeration, fertilizer/inhibitor? The yard is a mixture of weeds and grasses (I'm not even sure what grasses are growing).
For the bare areas, what do you recommend to keep the seed in place? Peat moss? Do you ever roll a lawn after seeding to make sure you're getting seed to soil contact?
Fair question..I would think it's better to feet after aeration so it can get into the soil better..I do it that way but obv Pete is the goat so I'll trust it doesn't matter
Pete, is there a reason that you put down the fertilizer before aerating? Also, don't you go around before doing anything and put flags at the sprinkler heads as you showed in another video? Maybe this particular property did not have an irrigation system.
I’ve toyed with my steps little. Last year. I seeded...aerated...starter. Figured plugs would cover some seed. You think there is a proper way for best germination?
Hey Pete any chance your new grass seed blend with Turf type tall fescue in Midnight kbg will be available soon in a 25 lb or smaller bags? Keep the great videos coming!
The aeration gives the new seed some loosened soil to put down roots in. A different question might be should you aerate if your soil is full of weed seeds. If you want to try then a solid tine aerator or an aerovator won't bring up plugs of soil that deposit weed seeds on the surface. Aerating is great for many reasons, not just letting air transfer but helping with drainage and allowing you to work good things deeper in the soil as well as loosening the ground.
GCI Turf Services how many properties does it take? Thx Pete I plan to cut my properties in half and keep the high end (well paying) stuff and only work for people who pay properly. Lots of people wanting lawn work in my area but do not want to pay what it’s worth.

I always wonder how the over seeding germinates because the mower just ends up sucking up the seed and blowing it around. 🤔🤔🤔. At least here in Michigan the mowing season isn’t done until early to mid November.
Took me some getting used to. If you’re not liking it, you might be pulling it too hard, pull it out about 5 inches slowly and then give it a moderate crank. Once I figured that out I didn’t have anymore problems.
If you search gci open a bag of grass seed it came right up for me. It’s a video he made about two years ago and it blew my mind. I had been doing it wrong for years.
GCI Turf Services Thank you so much for what you do sir! I’ve been in the industry for 11 years and branching out on my own and your videos have helped my wife and I out on picking the right machine for us.
Mine will be done next week (northern Indiana) been watering heavy and soaking for two weeks. Can pull a good 6-8 inch core about everywhere now, damp not wet (Indiana clay). Also have it cut down to about 2 1/2 inches so I can give it a couple weeks (hopefully) without mowing.
LOL...sure would...these machines are made for speed...the video of me plugging my yard is this saturday morning...we actually have 2 of these going full speed...they are made to do this
Clueless reply. Core aerator covers ground like a wheel. It'll go as fast as the operator cares to hang on and do just a good a job. He also specifically showed trimming out the edges, which is often skipped. Nothing in this video suggested a half assed, rushed job.
You can tell Pete is from Nascar country. Even the lawn machines are FAST!

Pete....do you ever skip the overseeding part on thick turf?
Do you do this in the fall or spring time for Bermuda grass

You want the fert in the ground dont you?

Should I still aerate if my lawn is full of weeds?
Yes. Also, go chiefs! Haha
@@mikerepmo Sorry, I need someone more credible than a Chiefs fan. You might be setting me up.

Aerating is great for many reasons, not just letting air transfer but helping with drainage and allowing you to work good things deeper in the soil as well as loosening the ground.
When over seeding is it necessary to weigh out the seed for square footage. I have no idea what my footage is.
measure length x width to get your square footage...
What is the cost per square on that job?
You have them water?
Why does that Turfware look different from the one I demoed?
What dictates whether core aeration is good enough or an aerovator is needed?
Aerovator is for bare areas and core aeration is for existing turf
Do you have the stihl Br 800
