Brian Moore's commentating was always like poetry, miss that man's voice and descriptive narratives so much.

Defreitas 1st goal offside, his 2nd handball. Williams goal was off side too....VAR would've completely re wrote history here

What a game shame we got relegated in 2012

I remember playing at a kid's six-a-side tournament when this game was playing, and we heard it was 2-0 to Reading even with a missed penalty, as we got into the car home. Caught the last 25 minutes or so on our return...as a side note, good job the net was there to stop that Jimmy Quinn goal or it would still be orbiting the planet

Any other season Reading would have gone up automatically as they finished second that season.
Unfortunately that was when the leagues were being streamlined so there was only one automatic promotion place that year.

Doubtful. Wanderers only blew second spot when they drew their last game of the season, with Middlesbrough’s First Division Champions status having only been secured (following Bolton’s challenge, not Reading’s) after the conclusion of their penultimate game.
Bolton had nothing to play for besides a “better” playoff birth (though they were already guaranteed a home game in the second leg) and had been very consistent at home over the course of the season. Had there been a second automatic promotion spot available (for that season) Bolton would’ve gone all out in their final league game - with their ground packed and the fans in full voice - and likely secured the second spot.

Why didn't de freitas just pick the ball up and throw it in the net for Bolton.

Brian Moore nearly spoke too soon, Bolton hadn't quite won it when he said they were home and dry, dangerous to talk like that!

Not the best highlights, reading also missed a pen in the first half to go 3-0 up

Agreed. Also didn't show the first part of the move for Bolton's 3rd goal in getting the ball to McAteer.
