I got used to regular cleaning of my old Graves Mk 1 from the day I bought it (used). It had been in a barn for a couple years and was covered in "Pigeon Doo" and straw and gunk. So it needed a serious cleaning before I could even turn it on or use it. Plus I had a very difficult time finding relevant and detailed information (let alone ANY videos worth watching) that show how to make a Good Oxide Slurry. So I had oxide flying all over the place because I was using way too much. That required several, very messy clean-ups. I have since learned to make a suitable slurry but also now prefer Battstik's for Oxides. Way less mess. But I still like to keep my equipment as clean as I can. I don't need any other excuses for problems. Thanks for posting this Cliff. Many facetors will benefit from seeing this.
I’d like to see inside my Faceting machine. Not the motor which looks sealed but under to where the belts are. I would have to undo a screw underneath the very heavy machine. Do you have a video on different repairs to Faceting machines? I use a Scintillator. Thank-you Cliff
Cliff,Do you resurface your laps? I have seen some wild processes like scoring the copper lap with a razor blade , then they burnish the surface, rescore, reburnish...is that mandatory? I am %100 serious about wanting to learn lapidary work and have even just got some help with selecting stones througha shop out of thailand. Its an amazing world.
I only get me laps milled once every 2-3 years when I may get a issue with scratching. I like all my laps to be smooth no scouring. Scouring is a waste of time. The best cut gems that win competitions are on laps not scoured they are milled perfectly smooth that way get a sharp facet and you float the diamond between the facet and the surface of the lap.
Great video Cliff once again, I would like to send you a design to try on any 1.54 RI material i love this cut something different, just need an address if possible, Best Regards C
Great advice! Sadly, the advertisements disrupt the video flow. And with all the political ads we are getting double and triple dose of them. Ugh! Your content was great, as usual.
Thanks..RUclips has changed, these adds are thrown in automatically. I used to add a few in manually, but they have made the entire process difficult. I will endeavour to see if I can add them manually, but it is a pain. Also, if they are left unmonetised RUclipss algorithms make sure it wont show up in listings.
I don't know of course which browser you use, but Firefox makes it really easy to get rid of ALL advertisements. Install Firefox, get an adblocker add-on (AdBlock works great for me), and no ads whatsoever will annoy you!
@@nurettinburak4061 The protractor slides onto the shaft from the top. The entire protractor (faceting head) just can slide off so shaft can be also cleaned.

Oxide slurry is messy. That's I avoid it also if I can. I much prefer diamond grit on metal.
Perfect. Taking things apart is how I lean how things work. I never thought about this but now I understand the Machine so much better now.
Great video Cliff. I haven't seen anyone go into cleaning their machine. Brilliant !
I thought this video would help people...Cheers
Very useful advice, Cliff!
Thanks Kathy.

pył diamentowy też w cenie , może odkurzacz samochodowy a późnej ściereczką?
Hello, if the shaft is this shape, doesn't it balance when you rotate it?

I didn't understand your question....
@@VintageTimeGems Is there any gap in the shaft where you attach the divisor? So is it balancing when it turns?
