Whitennouji Temple was founded by Prince Shotoku who spread Buddhism in Japan. Prince Shotoku was the biggest influencer to form the Japanese moral since Japan started.
Buddhism arrived in Japan from Korean Peninsula just before Prince Shotoku born. So, Buddhism was already popular at least among ruling families. A powerful ruling family was against Buddhism and another powerful ruling family was pro Buddhism. "another" is Prince Shotoku's relatives. "another" finally won the fight against "one". Anyway, Prince Shotoku got to know Buddhism directly by his family or relatives or indirectly while he was growing up.
@@japansajapansa1908 thank you so much for replying! That is so interesting. I was just wondering about where he learned about Buddhism because when I watched a "history of Japan" years ago it said that some hipster brought Buddhism to Japan and I was wondering if shotoku had grown up with it or adopted it later.
Very interesting! Who originally showed prince shotoku Buddhism?
